Overall Experience
My mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer in the summer of 2023. In October she was no longer able to live at home and so moved into Highclere.
Sadly she died in early February but as a family, we feel so very lucky that she was able to spend her last days at Highclere. We have nothing but admiration and gratitude for all the staff who cared for her as if she were a member of their own family.
We always felt Mum was receiving the best care possible – from the manager to the nurses and carers and everyone else. The staff were also extremely welcoming to us as a family as we became regular visitors. In fact, we have all said how much we're going to miss everyone there.
We also have the nurse to thank for calling us back in late one night when she saw Mum take a turn for the worse. Thanks to her we were able to be with Mum in her final hours.

Overall, we cannot thank the staff enough for how they treated Mum and us as a family. Really top class.

I can't speak highly enough of the staff. They went above and beyond when looking after my mum for her last few months of life. They got to know her, took time out of their busy schedules to talk to her, paint her nails and did everything they could to maintain her dignity and comfort at a difficult time. Our family feels so lucky and grateful to have found Highclere.

The staff at Highclere looked after Mum with such love and kindness and when we came to visit, we were given the same love and kindness.
We never had to worry whilst Mum was at Highclere and for that, we are so incredibly grateful.

They became our friends and we will miss them all dearly.

A very nice, clean, friendly home. By far the best that my wife has been in during the last thirty-plus years. I can thoroughly recommend Highclere Care Home.

My aunt was in the care home for nine years. She was well cared for during this time. the staff were at all times, kind and respectful to her as she found it difficult to adjust. As her health deteriorated she relied on more and more help which she received. In her final days, the kindness and care that she received were wonderful and her last days were very comfortable and stress-free for everyone. Thank you to all Highclere staff for making a sad time more bearable.

My mother has been a resident at Highclere for over 5 years. During that time, she has received excellent care for the vast majority of the time, enjoyed the activities provided, and been treated with dignity and respect. Added to that, the carers and nurses genuinely care for the people they are looking after. It is not just a job for them. She died this month, July. I was quite overwhelmed by the genuine concern and support shown to her and the family. There was nothing I could say to the staff or management that was not taken into serious consideration. It felt like we were a team together, as one of the nurses said to me and it was true. My only reservation is the cleanliness of her bedroom at times. Overall, we are hugely appreciative of the staff and management at Highclere and would recommend it to any of our friends.

I didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised.

The accommodation was not suited to my condition (dislocated left shoulder). The grab handle and toilet roll were on my left-hand side. My bed was difficult to get out of. I would have preferred the hand basin in the bathroom, so I could wash my hands after using the toilet.

Sadly, Dad was only at Highclere Care Home for three weeks but I could not have wished for anywhere better. The care he received was second to none. There were nurses and attendance 24 hours a day. Everyone was so friendly, caring and professional. The home had a lovely atmosphere. The rooms were spacious, encouraging you to bring in all your home comforts. I would not hesitate to recommend Highclere to anyone.

My father moved into your nursing home for the last seven weeks of his life. Your nursing staff were excellent. Very caring, professional and always kept me up to date with his health. The care staff were helpful and friendly and treated him with dignity and the right amount of personal friendliness. All in all, it was a very positive experience, under difficult circumstances. My father said he was in the best place and felt cared for.

My wife has suffered with advancing dementia for several years but I was in hospital when she was admitted to Highclere Care Home. I therefore didn't have much control over events. I found my fears groundless, however, when I saw her. She was treated with consideration and kindness and couldn't have been better looked after anywhere. Thank you Highclere.

My mother came to Highclere Care Home for respite care due to having a fall and fracturing her pelvic bone in two places. The staff have been absolutely wonderful to her. Mum is hard of hearing and being 102 years old I was concerned as to how she would be cared for. I had no need to worry, all the staff involved caring for Mum have treated her with the utmost respect and kindness. Mum did not want to leave when it was time for her to leave. That's how good it is.

Just wanted to pass on my mother’s thanks for her treatment while recently at Highclere.
She, unfortunately, had a nasty fall and had to be transferred there after being in hospital before being able to go home.
She is 96 and has Leukaemia so rather frail but still bright as a button!
She told me all the staff - nurses, carers, cooks, physiotherapists and cleaners were all lovely and very helpful and kind!
So although she is very pleased to be back home - her stay was made as pleasant as possible by the staff

Thank you again.

My mother came to Highclere Care Home for palliative care after a short stay in hospital. Sadly she passed away only two weeks later but the care she received was exceptional. All the staff were compassionate, kind, professional and efficient. Everything was always so neat, tidy and clean and the food looked and smelt wonderful. It was an extremely difficult time but they showed the family so much support and care too. Thank you so much to all at Highclere.

The staff are extremely competent and caring and kind. The home is very well run. A great deal of thought has gone into making the residents feel at home and providing them with interesting and stimulating activities. My mother has particularly enjoyed pet visits. eg. the shetland ponies.

My mother who is 91 came to Highclere Care Home for rehabilitation post 6 weeks in hospital a year ago. Highclere offers excellent care and was so good she has remained here, On research of care homes in Milton Keynes it is one the best. Excellent manager nurses and staff. Very good Covid protocols, compact size with 40 residents. Would highly recommend.
