I find Ashlar House a very welcoming atmosphere. The staff are very committed and the food is outstanding, the activities are varied and challenging. I would recommend Ashlar to anyone thinking of coming here.

My mother has been a resident at Ashlar for more than 3 years and she has generally been very happy there. When she was able to articulate, she would always say that it was a lovely place and would comment on how clean and tidy it was. Sadly my mother cannot communicate in this way anymore but I know that the standards are high and the care from the staff is second to none. They are always so kind and considerate.

The food is excellent too and there is always a choice. There are many areas to walk around and there are three gardens, two lounges and a dining room. Activities take place in the lounges frequently or on a one to one basis, but residents can retire to their rooms if they wish. I would not hesitate to recommend Ashlar House.

My grandmother is extremely settled at Ashlar. She has been a resident for over 3 years and although her dementia has worsened, she is always treated with respect and dignity by her carers. Her individual needs are addressed and activities are planned to fit in with her interests.

Ashlar has a wonderful feel about it. It is bright, clean and airy and the atmosphere is always positive. I honestly don’t think that my grandmother could be in a better place.

This care home has been caring for my friend for almost three years. He had also been in short time respite on two previous occasions. Along with two other friends, we visit the home almost every week and note continually the hard work, caring attitude and friendly atmosphere despite the challenges of the 'guests'. I commend all the staff on their compassionate care in looking after my lifelong friend and others in the home.

Barchester Ashlar House, Epping, with extremely efficient staff and facilities. My dad had a very happy, active time where every member of staff was very friendly, very professional and Dad felt as though he belonged to another family.
The activities kept Dad happy and active. I am very grateful Dad spent time at Ashlar House as his time there was very memorable. The food was excellent too.

I can not thank ALL the staff enough for making Dad's time so very special. Definitely a Care Home to be recommended.

When my mother first arrived in Ashlar House from hospital she was able to sit in a wheelchair, have her hair done, eat her meals at a table and do her makeup.

She was treated with the greatest respect and care by all staff - the manager, nurses, carers and caregivers. Now sadly she is bedridden and was no will to improve as she wants to join her husband in gods kingdom. The treatment she is receiving is the best you can get in my opinion. All staff are kind and caring at all times. I'm so impressed with the whole set up at Ashlar House and feel we could not better it.

My mum was admitted to Ashlar House Care Home for end of life care. The care staff, nurses and management treated her with such kindness, warmth, dignity and respect. You would have thought she was actually a member of their own personal family. Nobody was too busy to give me an update on how my mum had been that day and all the time I was away from mum's bedside I had no worries that she was not being cared for because she was. Mum's bedroom and bed linen was always clean and tidy and mum's personal care was outstanding. Unfortunately, my mum passed away but I would not have wished her to pass anywhere else than Ashlar House Care Home. Thank you, everyone, for taking care of my lovely mum.

My Nan came as end of life patient. The care she received was the most amazing any family could ask for. From the general manager to the carers to the cooks all did this home so proud! My family and I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant experience in such a hard and difficult time. Thank you so much.

My mother spent 18 months in Ashlar house. The last 10/11 months she was bed-ridden and totally dependant on staff for every need. The staff showed great care and compassion and mum responded well to their efforts.

The way mum's passing was handled was very comforting. Ashlar House cares for those with Alzheimer's disease and I have nothing but admiration for the staff there. All facilities were clean and food excellent.
