My dear Mother has been living at the Ashlar care home now for some time and my visits are often. I couldn't be more happier with my Mothers care. Ashlar is a very happy home to many residents and their families.
Family afternoons with song and music take place regularly, these afternoons are very
pleasant and I have enjoyed being part of them.
My Mother's care is superb and I speak very highly of the home and all the staff there.
The food is very tasty, the home is always clean and warm and during the different seasons, the home is decorated accordingly. (Easter/Christmas/Mother's Day, and so on).
I have great pleasure in submitting this review and am very happy to share my views of Ashlar.
I would highly recommend Ashlar to anyone's relative.

My friend and I timed our visit for the afternoon and we joined in a 'music and movement' activity. The resident we were visiting enjoyed this activity very much, smiling, tapping his feet and clapping to the songs. It was a great thing to witness his engagement and very obvious happiness.
Staff were
attentive and thoughtful, definitely taking pleasure in going the extra mile.

My dad is always looked after by very caring staff who treat him with respect, dignity and compassion. We always feel they treat him like a member of their own family. They are always friendly and show respect towards the family and listen/act on any concerns. The nursing staff are vigilent to his medical
needs and let us know of any changes. The domestic staff work tirelessly to keep the home clean and tidy to a very high standard. A fantastic new activities coordinator has brought a breath of fresh air to the care home and endless smiles, hugs, fun and entertainment which my dad can now be part of. We would definitely recommend this home to others looking for a member of their family.

My husband has been in Ashlar House for about 16 months and seems very comfortable in there. The staff are very friendly and helpful and it became a second home for me as well. The home is very clean and never smells like some places do. The residents get fed very well in there as well. All in all,

Three of us visit weekly and have been friends of our resident pal for 60 years. Whilst our friend is unable to talk and is incontinent, the staff treat him with respect and compassion. They encourage him and provide for his needs. They are friendly to visitors, and the home has a good atmosphere, given
the difficulties in providing care for patients with memory loss. We have singalongs with visiting musicians and it can be fun.

My mother has been a resident at Ashlar for more than 3 years and she has generally been very happy there. When she was able to articulate, she would always say that it was a lovely place and would comment on how clean and tidy it was. Sadly my mother cannot communicate in this way anymore but I know
that the standards are high and the care from the staff is second to none. They are always so kind and considerate.
The food is excellent too and there is always a choice. There are many areas to walk around and there are three gardens, two lounges and a dining room. Activities take place in the lounges frequently or on a one to one basis, but residents can retire to their rooms if they wish. I would not hesitate to recommend Ashlar House.

My grandmother is extremely settled at Ashlar. She has been a resident for over 3 years and although her dementia has worsened, she is always treated with respect and dignity by her carers. Her individual needs are addressed and activities are planned to fit in with her interests.
Ashlar has a wonderful
feel about it. It is bright, clean and airy and the atmosphere is always positive. I honestly don’t think that my grandmother could be in a better place.

This care home has been caring for my friend for almost three years. He had also been in short time respite on two previous occasions. Along with two other friends, we visit the home almost every week and note continually the hard work, caring attitude and friendly atmosphere despite the challenges
of the 'guests'. I commend all the staff on their compassionate care in looking after my lifelong friend and others in the home.

Barchester Ashlar House, Epping, with extremely efficient staff and facilities. My dad had a very happy, active time where every member of staff was very friendly, very professional and Dad felt as though he belonged to another family.
The activities kept Dad happy and active. I am very grateful Dad
spent time at Ashlar House as his time there was very memorable. The food was excellent too.
I can not thank ALL the staff enough for making Dad's time so very special. Definitely a Care Home to be recommended.

When my mother first arrived in Ashlar House from hospital she was able to sit in a wheelchair, have her hair done, eat her meals at a table and do her makeup.
She was treated with the greatest respect and care by all staff - the manager, nurses, carers and caregivers. Now sadly she is bedridden and
was no will to improve as she wants to join her husband in gods kingdom. The treatment she is receiving is the best you can get in my opinion. All staff are kind and caring at all times. I'm so impressed with the whole set up at Ashlar House and feel we could not better it.

My mum was admitted to Ashlar House Care Home for end of life care. The care staff, nurses and management treated her with such kindness, warmth, dignity and respect. You would have thought she was actually a member of their own personal family. Nobody was too busy to give me an update on how my mum
had been that day and all the time I was away from mum's bedside I had no worries that she was not being cared for because she was. Mum's bedroom and bed linen was always clean and tidy and mum's personal care was outstanding. Unfortunately, my mum passed away but I would not have wished her to pass anywhere else than Ashlar House Care Home. Thank you, everyone, for taking care of my lovely mum.

My mother spent 18 months in Ashlar house. The last 10/11 months she was bed-ridden and totally dependant on staff for every need. The staff showed great care and compassion and mum responded well to their efforts.
The way mum's passing was handled was very comforting. Ashlar House cares for those
with Alzheimer's disease and I have nothing but admiration for the staff there. All facilities were clean and food excellent.

Head Chef is the best job in the world and Ashlar House is the best care home in the world, so I am able to enjoy every day. As Head Chef I lead the kitchen team to provide delicious and nutritious meals, as well as a tasty array of cakes each day!


I meet with all new residents to find out what they like and dislike, and I also work closely with the care teams to ensure I am supporting the resident's health, diet and nutrition on an individual basis.


At mealtimes you will find me in the dining rooms, chatting with residents and managing the dining experience. I am always interested in feedback and looking to exceed resident expectations. I particularly love supporting the Activities Team with food related activities, especially Pudding Club!
