Absolutely wonderful care and attention was given to my dear grandmother during her stay at Ashlar House. My Parents, Uncle and I cannot thank them enough for the support they provided us with during this very difficult time. I would always recommend Ashlar House to family and friends.

I visited a resident of Ashlar House for the first time while renovations are taking place, the staff were so welcoming. I was very impressed with the layout and decor of the home. The corridors are wide and everywhere appeared bright and airy. My friend was out of her room so a member of staff went and found her. Although not a large room it was bright and clean with nice furniture. We were (I had a friend with me) impressed with the variety of daily activities which are arranged for the residents and the staff were very complimentary to our friend in her engagement with them. I haven't commented on all of the points listed and I have only experienced or observed.

My mum came to Ashlar on 6 January 2021. She was quite poorly after being in hospital for a few months. Within 2 weeks of being at Ashlar, we saw a difference in mum. She looked so much better. She has now put on weight and looks so much better. She is happy, feels safe and is well cared for. The staff laugh and joke with her and make Ashlar a happy place to be. Thank you, everyone.

When my Mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer in September, we quickly realised that Mum would not be able to go home as she needed round the clock care, we moved Mum across from Kent into Ashlar House so she could be near us, she settled in really well and although Mums decline was rapid, the team got to know her quickly ensuring her needs were met and her tea was made properly!
There was always someone for us to talk to and Mum was treated with dignity and respect especially in her final days as were we also.
I will say that the activities coordinator ensured Mum ticked off a couple of her bucket list items and she kept her entertained as much as possible, Mum was going to be a VIP guest on Remembrance Sunday but unfortunately passed 10 days before. We attended in her absence and was proud to support Ashlar House.
Although our time there was short I would always recommend them.

Thank you all at Ashlar House for supporting my Mum and family through her final weeks.

My mother has received the best of care following an accident elsewhere earlier in the year. Ashlar House is clean, well staffed and comfortable. She couldn’t be in a better facility, and despite being bed-bound has round the clock care.

Our neighbour has been in Ashlar House since August 2021. When we visited she was in bed in a light airy room, she was warm and comfortable and her hair had been done nicely. She has dementia but seemed relaxed and peaceful. The staff were able to tell us that she is eating and drinking well and that her responsiveness varies from day to day. We found the home warm and clean and in our neighbour's case, we felt it offers good palliative care.

Ashlar House is without question the best care home in the district. My husband was a resident there for just over 5 years. All the staff were so friendly and kept me in touch with what was going on day and night during the lockdown. In the last week of his life even though this was in the middle of COVID, they gave me unrestricted access to be with him. I will always be thankful to the staff that allowed me to spend the last few days of his life, (after being married for 51 years) with him. Thank you Ashlar House.

As soon as I entered Ashlar House I felt it would be the right place for my mum. Its friendly, caring, committed staff make the place it is. I think that all the staff do a fantastic job and have managed to continue to do that in extraordinarily challenging times. The home is always very clean and well presented and has a good atmosphere. Nothing is ever too much trouble and they are very responsive and open to suggestions and ideas about the care of a relative. I feel that my mum is in a very caring environment and I am grateful and glad of it.

My relative has resided at Barchester Ashlar House Care Home since January, after a long stay in hospital. The staff have always been very helpful, caring and patient. Communication between management and relatives is excellent. Queries have been dealt with quickly and efficiently. Despite lockdown, activities have still been organised to entertain the residents. I am very pleased and reassured by the care my aunt is receiving and I would not hesitate to recommend this home for a loved one.

My dear mother has been at Barchester Ashlar House for a few years now and she couldn’t be in better hands. It’s helped us with this lockdown knowing Mum is better well cared for. We as a family can’t thank the staff enough for being Mum's family when we weren’t able to see her.

Thank you all so much.

Our father was admitted into Ashlar House in late February 2020. Since his admission, and to date, we have been very pleased with the standard of care he has received. We found our personal contact with the staff at the home to be always helpful and understanding of our own and our father's needs. He seems to be extremely well cared for and is happy and content on most occasions we visit him. The staff that look after him do an excellent job and we are pretty sure he feels this and appreciates the care he is receiving. We would like to thank all the staff at Ashlar House for the excellent ongoing care they provide for our dear father.

I went to see my dad yesterday for the first time since he left hospital recently, and it was such a good experience. When I entered Ashlar House I was blown away at how lovely the staff are and how lovely the home itself is. How the home has enabled family members to see their loved ones in the special pod is just brilliant and just what we all needed. My dad looked so well and cared for it was brilliant to see. The carers really know him already and there is a level of trust and respect that oozes from them all. Please keep up the fab work.

My Father suffers from dementia and when he went to Ashlar House he had come from hospital where he was very confused and weak. With the superb care that he got from day one, he looks not only healthier but happy in himself and more alert. When I went to see him I could not believe the improvement in him and because of the stimulation and the one to one care he actually recognised me and although couldn't have a conversation was very inquisitive. I cannot thank the superb staff enough for what they have and continue to do for him.
