A beautifully refurbished home, Ashlar House makes the most of pleasant grounds in the beautiful Epping Forest and a stunning interior to provide top quality nursing and residential care, with professionals available round-the-clock and also skilled in care and support for physical disabilities and dementia.

Where do I start? What an amazing place. From the staff to the facilities I knew my nan was in the safest hands possible, nothing was ever too much. Even when looking after my nan they always checked on her and me. The staff always took the time to talk to me and reassure me. You should be very proud
of your staff.

The home was fantastic, so clean and has recently been modernised, all the staff were so friendly and I cannot thank them enough for the superb care they gave my Dad when he recently stayed for respite care, they treated us like family, highly recommended

Absolutely beautiful facilities, spotlessly clean and the care as far as I can ascertain very very good.
Both the residential part of Ashlar House as well as the nursing part is airy and open whilst retaining the privacy of the residents.

My father was recently admitted into Ashlar House, as he could no longer care for himself.
This is a wonderful care home and has a nice caring, relaxing and safe atmosphere. The staff cannot do enough for the residents. Nothing is too much trouble. They plan lots of activities and you can tell that
the staff are not only dedicated to their work but also love what they do.
I can rest easy knowing that my father is in the best place.

My mother has had end of life care since February so she had not moved from her bed or room. She is always clean and tidy and I feel she is always treated with respect and dignity by the excellent staff. Her room is very small and is awkward when two people visit together, she is at the end of a corridor
which I feel she is quite isolated from the goings-on of the rest of the home. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ashlar House.

I visited a resident of Ashlar House for the first time while renovations are taking place, the staff were so welcoming. I was very impressed with the layout and decor of the home. The corridors are wide and everywhere appeared bright and airy. My friend was out of her room so a member of staff went
and found her. Although not a large room it was bright and clean with nice furniture. We were (I had a friend with me) impressed with the variety of daily activities which are arranged for the residents and the staff were very complimentary to our friend in her engagement with them. I haven't commented on all of the points listed and I have only experienced or observed.

My mum came to Ashlar on 6 January 2021. She was quite poorly after being in hospital for a few months. Within 2 weeks of being at Ashlar, we saw a difference in mum. She looked so much better. She has now put on weight and looks so much better. She is happy, feels safe and is well cared for.
The staff laugh and joke with her and make Ashlar a happy place to be. Thank you, everyone.

When my Mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer in September, we quickly realised that Mum would not be able to go home as she needed round the clock care, we moved Mum across from Kent into Ashlar House so she could be near us, she settled in really well and although Mums decline was rapid, the team
got to know her quickly ensuring her needs were met and her tea was made properly!
There was always someone for us to talk to and Mum was treated with dignity and respect especially in her final days as were we also.
I will say that the activities coordinator ensured Mum ticked off a couple of her bucket list items and she kept her entertained as much as possible, Mum was going to be a VIP guest on Remembrance Sunday but unfortunately passed 10 days before. We attended in her absence and was proud to support Ashlar House.
Although our time there was short I would always recommend them.
Thank you all at Ashlar House for supporting my Mum and family through her final weeks.

My mother has received the best of care following an accident elsewhere earlier in the year. Ashlar House is clean, well staffed and comfortable. She couldn’t be in a better facility, and despite being bed-bound has round the clock care.

Our neighbour has been in Ashlar House since August 2021. When we visited she was in bed in a light airy room, she was warm and comfortable and her hair had been done nicely. She has dementia but seemed relaxed and peaceful. The staff were able to tell us that she is eating and drinking well and that
her responsiveness varies from day to day. We found the home warm and clean and in our neighbour's case, we felt it offers good palliative care.

Ashlar House is without question the best care home in the district. My husband was a resident there for just over 5 years. All the staff were so friendly and kept me in touch with what was going on day and night during the lockdown. In the last week of his life even though this was in the middle of
COVID, they gave me unrestricted access to be with him. I will always be thankful to the staff that allowed me to spend the last few days of his life, (after being married for 51 years) with him. Thank you Ashlar House.

As soon as I entered Ashlar House I felt it would be the right place for my mum. Its friendly, caring, committed staff make the place it is. I think that all the staff do a fantastic job and have managed to continue to do that in extraordinarily challenging times. The home is always very clean and well
presented and has a good atmosphere. Nothing is ever too much trouble and they are very responsive and open to suggestions and ideas about the care of a relative. I feel that my mum is in a very caring environment and I am grateful and glad of it.

My relative has resided at Barchester Ashlar House Care Home since January, after a long stay in hospital. The staff have always been very helpful, caring and patient. Communication between management and relatives is excellent. Queries have been dealt with quickly and efficiently. Despite lockdown,
activities have still been organised to entertain the residents. I am very pleased and reassured by the care my aunt is receiving and I would not hesitate to recommend this home for a loved one.

Head Chef is the best job in the world and Ashlar House is the best care home in the world, so I am able to enjoy every day. As Head Chef I lead the kitchen team to provide delicious and nutritious meals, as well as a tasty array of cakes each day!


I meet with all new residents to find out what they like and dislike, and I also work closely with the care teams to ensure I am supporting the resident's health, diet and nutrition on an individual basis.


At mealtimes you will find me in the dining rooms, chatting with residents and managing the dining experience. I am always interested in feedback and looking to exceed resident expectations. I particularly love supporting the Activities Team with food related activities, especially Pudding Club!

Hello, my name is Maricela and I have lived in Epping for years I am proud to work at such a great care home supporting the local community.


I am a chef with several years of experience, with a great sense of humour, and I love working with our kitchen team. In my spare time, I love to try new recipes and research new dishes to bring to the home.
