We never cease to be impressed with Ashlar House!
Always clean, well maintained, with a truly warm atmosphere where involvement in activities is encouraged by the hardworking, friendly staff.
Our friend, despite mobility problems, continues to benefit from the care and support from all levels of staff.
We cannot comment on value for money as we have no involvement in our friend's finances, however, the care she receives is priceless.

Thanks to all!

My aunt was cared for in the residential wing of Ashlar House for over two years where she was encouraged to be as independent as possible and established friendships with her carers especially Jane and Tundy. Rita was also involved in her activities and trips out.
Finally her years caught up with her and in her last 6 weeks she was able to stay in her own room with her friends and carers around her as she faded, dying peacefully in her sleep.
Thank you so much to all at Ashlar House for giving her a loving peaceful passing.

You were all terrific. Thank you xx

My husband has spent 6 weeks in the home recovering from an ankle operation. The home has offered all the help he needed for the 1st weeks when he was 'no weight bearing'. It has been a delight to visit with the staff so caring and friendly. Our dog has been made so welcome too and so lovely for my husband to still be able to see him. Perfect choice for us.

I have been visiting and taking a resident our for over a year now. I was welcomed by the then manager, the staff are aways polite to me. The resident is very happy with her care, her room is comfortable with her personal belongins around she feels its home from home. She enjoys the classes for mobility but sadly she is now on end of life care. The staff are amazing treating the lady with dignity. Other residents I see on a regular basis all seem very happy. I have nothing but praise for this wonderful care centre.

The biggest "Thank you" to Rita, Activities co-ordinator and the team at Ashlar for making our 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary a very special day.
Rita liaised covertly with friends and family to arrange a wonderful party for Graham and myself, with balloons, cakes ,bubbles and wonderful entertainment!!!. Off duty staff came in to help celebrate, which shows the care and attention the team give every day, not just to the residents but their families as well.
It was such a suprise and the happy memories will be with me forever.

Thank you to everyone at Ashlar for taking such good care of my beloved husband.

Ashlar House is a wonderful house with a real sense of community and care. There's nothing the staff wouldn't do for those under their care or even anyone visiting. They have a full programme of exciting activities but also work with the residents to allow them to find a rhythm of activity that works for them.

Looks like it is going to be a lovely Christmas at Ashlar House. Decorations really bright and they have spent a lot of time and trouble. I am looking forward to the Xmas, jumper party. We will all be dressed up and my mum, who has been here nearly 6 months, is having a happy time enjoying all the activities. Many music afternoons, and we can all join in dancing. She loves the painting, and I like helping. All the staff are lovely, caring people, always willing to help.

Mum has resided in Ashlar House for a month & the manager was very knowledgeable & supportive with her new placement following discharge from hospital.
The atmosphere is always very warm & welcoming. The staff are calm, kind & experienced in managing residents with a variety of conditions. The home is spotlessly clean & Mum is always made comfortable by the attentive staff.
The facilities & lounges are bright & well fitted with comfy chairs, decor, activities, televisions & cosy ornamental fires. Visiting entertainers, hairdersser & chiropodist.
Meals are varied, home cooked & tasty & you can join your relative for a meal! The cafe in the reception area where visitors can have a hot drink, homemade cake or fruit - a lovely gesture.
The building is on one level, built with internal garden courtyards that give residents a nice view from their rooms.
Rooms are cosy & well equipped with en-suite toilet and basin for personal care.

I cannot recommend Ashlar House enough for 1st class care

Ashlar House always gives a Calm Homely Feel, that has staff that understand the importance of caring and apply it to their work on a daily basis.
The care home alway's has clean facilities both around the building and within the Bedroom's. The staff make a point of customising each one to the Residents Needs.

Inspiring Activities virtually on a daily basis which is attended by Most Residents mean that the staff must be doing something right. I always liken Ashlar House as a Holiday Resort rather than a Care Home for my Mother. Good Work.

My mother has been a resident for almost a year and we are very grateful for the warm attentive care of the numerous staff, the welcoming atmosphere for both new residents and their family, and for the clean, tidy rooms and lounges. The staff put on lovely entertainment every day which is fantastic! There are TVs as well as radios, but they are not disturbingly loud. The food is well prepared and plentiful. The staff also wash and groom residents who need help. A wonderful place.

Every time I visit my mother, I come away feeling at peace, happy and so very thankful that we found such a wonderful home for her. Throughout her life, my mother has always been very particular and had exceptionally high expectations, so finding a home that she would be comfortable in was a huge challenge. Ashlar ticks every single box for her, and for my sister and I. The amount and variety of activities Ashlar runs, ensures that every resident can engage to whichever level they wish or are able. My mother enjoys sitting outside in the beautifully colourful, sensory courtyard garden, particularly during this sunny weather - it's her happy place! More than just a care home, Ashlar is a real family environment. The staff are so loving and caring to all the residents, you can tell it's more than just a job to them. She's been there now for two and a half years and she is the happiest I've seen her in many, many years. Thank you, Ashlar family!

My aunt asked to go to the toilet and had to wait an hour before she was taken. This is not acceptable. While I was there another lady asked to go to the toilet and she had to wait over two hours. It was only when I made a complaint to one member of staff, in particular, was she then taken. The member of staff said she had to wait as other nurses were seeing to other patients, but she was just doing office work and could have taken her. She was very unhelpful and said her work in the office was more important. Surely patient care should be the priority especially as they rely on the staff for everything. It is a basic human right to be able to go to the toilet and not have to wait atleast an hour to be taken.

Due to the distance involved, we visit our friend (of over 50 years!) about three times a year. Each visit varies in timing - sometimes morning, sometimes afternoon - but we have always found the staff to be engaging with residents in a positive and warm atmosphere. Our friend has certainly benefitted from this experience and has, despite some mobility problems, happily involved herself in all activities. Thank you.
