From the moment you walk in, the home has been beautifully decorated to create the feeling of an elegant, welcoming family home rather than a traditional care setting. What truly stood out to us, though, was the warmth and kindness of every member of staff.
The love and care that Rita so clearly shows, not only to each resident but also to their families, is truly something special. You can feel that the residents are valued, respected and genuinely cared for.
There is a wonderful sense of peace that comes from knowing someone you love is being looked after as though they are part of the family. We left feeling incredibly reassured and grateful to know our dear friend is in such caring hands.

Have visited several times a friend's husband who is staying for 2nd time at Ashlar for respite care. On all occasions he has been calm and happy and has displayed none of the distress & agitation he often shows. He has dementia. All the staff I met were warm and welcoming and clearly enjoyed their work. The facilities at Ashlar seem excellent and there seems to be a high staff resident ratio. Friend's husband was clearly enjoying his food (unusually) and was happy to participate in activities (again, this is unusual)

Our friend has been a resident at Ashlar House since the end of May 2026. It has taken him a while to adjust to the loss of his independence due to his frailty. My experience of Ashlar has been positive from cooks to senior members of staff. Everyone is so welcoming and engaging. The resident is very happy too. He talks of staff as being so helpful and approachable. Even on 'bad days' he will make comments such as 'you can't offend them, they take my abuse'. Obviously we ask him not to try and offend anyone - he says that he doesn't and apologises for his words and grumpiness. I would recommend Ashlar wholeheartedly. I'm grateful that I have peace of mind knowing he is happy and cared for and safe.

Our friend, despite mobility problems, continues to benefit from the care and support from all levels of staff.
We cannot comment on value for money as we have no involvement in our friend's finances, however, the care she receives is priceless.

Supporting each person to feel valued, connected and safe is at the very heart of what we do, and it is wonderful to read that she found such kindness and companionship here.
It brings us great comfort to know that in her final weeks she was able to remain in the room she knew, surrounded by familiar faces and people who cared deeply for her. That is exactly the compassionate, dignified care we strive to provide every day.

The resident is very happy with her care, her room is comfortable with her personal belongins around she feels its home from home. She enjoys the classes for mobility but sadly she is now on end of life care. The staff are amazing treating the lady with dignity. Other residents I see on a regular basis all seem very happy. I have nothing but praise for this wonderful care centre.

Rita liaised covertly with friends and family to arrange a wonderful party for Graham and myself, with balloons, cakes ,bubbles and wonderful entertainment!!!. Off duty staff came in to help celebrate, which shows the care and attention the team give every day, not just to the residents but their families as well.
It was such a suprise and the happy memories will be with me forever.

At mealtimes you will find me in the dining rooms, chatting with residents and managing the dining experience. I am always interested in feedback and looking to exceed resident expectations. I particularly love supporting the Activities Team with food related activities, especially Pudding Club!

Hello, I'm Yetunde and I'm a carer.
I have worked in healthcare for many years and feel proud that I have made a real difference in the lives of the people I've supported.
I know that my heart is in care and I will work to enrich the lives of our residents for the rest of my career.
Supporting the vulnerable older generation with kindness to enjoy life in our home is a very rewarding job.
We aim for our residents to enjoy days full of laughter and fun, and to be cared for individually by a wonderful team.

Hi, I'm Ramesh. My passion lies in providing person-centred care, ensuring each individual's unique needs are met with empathy and understanding. I find immense fulfilment in accompanying others on their journey through their later years, cherishing every story and memory shared with me.
Beyond the rewarding realm of caregiving, I find solace in the simple joys of life. Whether it's strolling along the seaside with my loyal companion or indulging in the tranquillity of assembling jigsaw puzzles, I relish every moment spent unwinding.
I'm thrilled to be part of the Barchester family, dedicated to enriching the lives of those we care for with warmth, respect, and dignity.

Hello, my name is Maricela and I have lived in Epping for years I am proud to work at such a great care home supporting the local community.
I am a chef with several years of experience, with a great sense of humour, and I love working with our kitchen team. In my spare time, I love to try new recipes and research new dishes to bring to the home.
