A beautifully refurbished home, Ashlar House makes the most of pleasant grounds in the beautiful Epping Forest and a stunning interior to provide top quality nursing and residential care, with professionals available round-the-clock and also skilled in care and support for physical disabilities and dementia.

From the moment you walk through the doors of Ashlar House, you know that your loved one will be in good hands. The dining area is always clean and bright with a menu for the day on show and seasonal flowers and decor on display. There are always members of staff engaging with residents with lots of
laughter and chatting - it's so lovely to see. The manager is always on hand to offer help and support as well as all the members of staff. From the start of Mum's stay members of staff were so keen to get to know her, knowing this would help her to feel safe and secure. Unfortunately Mum has now passed away but I know that if she had been in better health she would have loved the full programme of lovely things Ashlar provide for their residents. All the members of staff were so attentive and gave professional compassionate care to Mum and to us as well. I can't thank them enough for their kindness.
Our father has not long been at Ashlar House. We have found that all members of staff are fabulous. They are thoughtful, kind and professional, giving him attention with compassion and kindness. If we need to discuss Dad's care someone is never too far away to help and all staff are totally understanding of his needs. I can't thank everyone enough for all the support at this time.

Mum came to Ashlar House with advanced dementia and other health problems. She was very poorly having spent the past couple of weeks in hospital. She was receiving end-of-life care. It was a particularly difficult time for her but also for the family. We found all the staff - without exception - to
be extremely caring, compassionate, professional and friendly. We couldn’t have wished for better care for Mum. We were particularly thankful for the care they showed us too. Thank you Team Ashlar!

Excellent care home. Staff are extremely helpful and caring. As a family, we know my father is receiving the best possible care and the food is five-star. They go out of their way to make sure my father gets his cornflakes, which is his favourite.

My mum and I could not be more thankful for the care given to my dad while he was at Barchester Ashlar House Care Home. The kindness shown to him and the support given to us by every member of staff was immeasurable. It's difficult thinking about a loved one going into a nursing home, but the first
moment we stepped through the door we knew he was coming to the right place. Welcoming, professional and caring. You couldn't ask for me. Dad's passing was as dignified and compassionate as it could be. Thank you for making a difficult time for him and his family as comfortable as it could be. We felt included at a time when one is completely helpful.

The staff and carers have a tough job with the people who stay at the care facility here but from seeing things myself over the past three weeks, they do a fantastic job. they must be a special type of person, because I know I couldn't do it! Well done!

At Ashlar House, the staff are considerate and kind and go out of their way to make sure the residents are safe and comfortable. I have witnessed several acts of kindness and patience in feeding. When I leave at the end of my daily visit, I feel assured that my husband is in good, gentle hands.

Ashlar House Care Home is a very well-run and managed home and our family member is extremely settled and comfortable. The carers are all very professional and caring and there when needed. It can't be easy looking after people who have problems and we as a family have always found everyone very compassionate,

I couldn't be more appreciative of the staff. So helpful, patient, hardworking and caring and always has time for the families. The manager, despite her heavy workload, will always give her time and does a great job. The nurses are fantastic and the rest of the care staff are pure gold. I am so grateful
that they take such good care of my mum.

All staff, from cleaners, carers and medical, were so kind and friendly, which made the home so welcoming and safe. There was always someone around to talk to. The resident and their family have no hesitation to use this home again.

In my opinion, Ashlar House is very well run by its excellent manager. She pays as much attention to the relative's well-being as to the patient himself. My wife has Alzheimer's and is now immobile following a catastrophic fall at home and many weeks in the hospital, becoming increasingly morose.
I was very relieved when Ashlar House Care Home agreed to accept her as a long-term resident. She had 2 respite stays there previously, so I know how good
it is. Just how good, I've now discovered. When you enter Ashlar House Care Home you feel surrounded by warmth and not just the temperature! I immediately felt at home, warmly and inclusively welcomed.
The managers and staff are amazing. Managers' doors are always open. And if you need anything, there's always a staff member close by. Chefs, cleaners, carers, nurses, whatever you want, ask anyone and they'll fix it. It's my belief that these kind and positive attitudes are the basic elements that explain why Ashlar House Care Home is so outstandingly good and why my wife is now smiling a lot and is so much happier than she's been for a long time.
If you're looking for a care home in the Epping area, look no further.

Our first visit to our Great Aunt and we were made to feel welcome. It was obvious our Great Aunt was well cared for. She was chatted too affectionately and had a steady supply of drinks bought through to her. The photographs taken and printed as a memento from our visit was an unexpected and thoughtful
touch. Our Great Aunt expressed that she was happy in the home - high praise!

Our 93yo Mum moved to Ashlar House in June 22 from another Essex care home where she had been discharged for assessment, from hospital. Whilst she was cared for to an extent, it was not meeting either mum's needs and expectations, so she asked us to move her. This was the best move we could have made!
Ashlar is just lovely, and exactly what the whole family had envisaged 'Residential Care' should be. There is an atmosphere of calm professionalism, understanding, and care all within the beautifully decorated rooms, the dining/sitting room, etc and all of the staff are so friendly, kind and respectful, whilst providing the best possible care they can. Mum is truly happy to be there and enjoys everything about the care, the staff, facilities, meal times, and enrichment opportunities.
Personally, I could not recommend Ashlar more, and I would encourage anyone researching care for relatives or themselves, to visit Ashlar and meet the staff, and view the facilities.

Head Chef is the best job in the world and Ashlar House is the best care home in the world, so I am able to enjoy every day. As Head Chef I lead the kitchen team to provide delicious and nutritious meals, as well as a tasty array of cakes each day!


I meet with all new residents to find out what they like and dislike, and I also work closely with the care teams to ensure I am supporting the resident's health, diet and nutrition on an individual basis.


At mealtimes you will find me in the dining rooms, chatting with residents and managing the dining experience. I am always interested in feedback and looking to exceed resident expectations. I particularly love supporting the Activities Team with food related activities, especially Pudding Club!
