Colonia Court offers nursing, residential and dementia care, as well as having a dedicated unit for people living with Huntington’s disease. It can also offer a space for people to rest, relax and recover with short stays too. It could be a few weeks to experience living here, an advanced booking if you/ your loved ones are planning a holiday or break, a month while recovering from an operation or a more long-term move. Whatever the reason, their doors are open.

Situated in a pleasant, leafy suburb, Colonia Court offers residents a modern and purpose-built home surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens. Just a short bus ride away, the home is within easy access to Colchester. There are also shops nearby for residents to visit that are within walking distance.

It is important for residents to feel at home, so it creates a friendly environment with an individually appropriate balance of care and independence. Enjoying food is an important part of life. The chefs create well-crafted menus made with the freshest ingredients and try to cater for all ethnic groups. Soon after a resident arrives at Colonia Court, staff discuss their personal preferences and dietary needs with them.

I cannot praise Colonia Court enough especially Bloomfield House, the staff and the atmosphere are wonderful and mum is so happy.
Her's and our lives have been transformed and she made friends immediately. It is like one big happy family with lots of activities and merriment. We cannot thank everyone
who looks after mum enough.

Since my mother became a resident in Colonia Court Care Home in September she has received excellent care and also compassion. Never having had any experience of care homes we were unsure of what to expect. However, we are absolutely delighted as is my mother with every aspect of her life.

My father went into Blomfield House in August after a fall. From the day he arrived, he has been treated with respect and been well looked after. The staff are welcoming and friendly and keep us updated with any problems when we visit. Any medical problems that have occurred have been promptly sorted
out with the GP or nurse. Most importantly my father has settled and is happy to be living there which the best indicator of the good standard of care and the kind attention of the staff.

The staff at Blomfield Lodge have always been professional, friendly and caring. They continue to be so as they care for my mother through the last days of her life.
They treat her with dignity, gentleness and affection, as a person that has feelings which matter to them.

All the staff are warm and friendly. The carers and nursing staff are compassionate, kind, understanding and efficient.
Rooms are clean, food is good and varied. The general standard is excellent.
I would recommend Colonia Court/Catchpole House to anyone.

I went to Colonia Court from 10th to 24th June for two weeks respite care. I found Bloomfield House very welcoming and the staff were absolutely brilliant.
The food was really good and drinks were good too.
In fact, I can't fault anything about the experience in any way.
I came home feeling a bit
better and ready to look after myself for a bit longer.

My mother has been in this dementia unit for more than 2 years and I have always found the unit manager and all of the staff caring and considerate at all times. They genuinely care about all of the residents. The staff take the time to know each resident and their individual needs and always assist
with feeding and drinking where needed. I find it so reassuring to know my mother is so well cared for and I am kept informed at all times.

I was not looking forward to my mum going into a care home at any time but found that as my mums dementia got worse, I could not cope. I looked around quite a few but found that Colonia Court was best for location. The staff are kind and nothing is too much trouble. My mum is well fed and usually looks
clean and well cared for. She has put on weight since being there and seems quite content and is always happy. She likes to help a little at the home but the staff see that she doesn't overdo it or attempt something beyond her capabilities.

Having been badly treated by his previous care home, my dad was admitted to Colonia Court Care Home in October 2015. He has been treated with kindness and great care. All of his medical and mental health issues have been sorted out. He is happy to be in a clean, bright and pleasant room and very much
enjoys the food he is given. The staff keep me well informed about his progress and are extremely helpful in every way.

Very pleased with mum's care. All the carers and nurses are lovely to her and she always looks clean, tidy and well fed and content. Any illnesses are dealt with quickly by a lady that runs the dementia unit with enthusiasm and efficiency.

All the staff that we see are friendly, pleasant and caring. Residents are treated with respect and every effort is made to make them feel at ease. The only thing that could be improved is the entertainment although we realise that it is difficult and expensive.

Dad came to Paxman House in April 2016 from hospital. From the time he arrived until he passed away the staff were amazing showing him and us great care. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you again for making dads last few months comfortable.

Wonderful, caring staff in this specialist care home for Huntington's Disease. Standard of care is excellent. Staff are a good team - qualified and unqualified staff work together to promote a caring, calm, loving environment. It has a real family feeling and relatives are always included in care planning
and always made welcome. Managerial staff are satisfactory but it is those on the coal face who are real heroes. I just wish they had greater recognition for working in this challenging environment.

Making the decision to move a loved one from their home to a care home is often distressing. We visited over 20 homes in S.E. England to find the right one for mum, seeing the beautiful gardens, bright modern interior and pretty en-suite bedrooms made BUPA's Colonia Court easily the best. Actually
moving mum in has also been a pleasure thanks to the amazingly wonderful staff, from management, administration and carers nothing has been too much trouble. I cannot express enough my gratitude for the incredible support and kindness everyone has shown. Thanks to the staff, it took just a couple of hours for mum to happily settle in, and we can now return home to France knowing that we have done our very best for her, and that she is in the best place possible.
