Colonia Court offers nursing, residential and dementia care, as well as having a dedicated unit for people living with Huntington’s disease. It can also offer a space for people to rest, relax and recover with short stays too. It could be a few weeks to experience living here, an advanced booking if you/ your loved ones are planning a holiday or break, a month while recovering from an operation or a more long-term move. Whatever the reason, their doors are open.

Situated in a pleasant, leafy suburb, Colonia Court offers residents a modern and purpose-built home surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens. Just a short bus ride away, the home is within easy access to Colchester. There are also shops nearby for residents to visit that are within walking distance.

It is important for residents to feel at home, so it creates a friendly environment with an individually appropriate balance of care and independence. Enjoying food is an important part of life. The chefs create well-crafted menus made with the freshest ingredients and try to cater for all ethnic groups. Soon after a resident arrives at Colonia Court, staff discuss their personal preferences and dietary needs with them.

My son has a smoking fixation. I was worried that this might be very stressful. I contacted a nurse, someone who over the years, with a doctor has been very helpful when looking after my son at home. She assured me that Bupa's staff were all trained to high standards and carer to a patient ratio. This
has put my mind at ease.

What can I say, the home is so welcoming and the staff are lovely and my husband is so well looked after and content. We have been married 60 years and never been apart, so to see him like he is makes me feel better. Thank you Colonia Court keep up the good work, and also all the staff in all departments.

I find the home excellent. The staff are very good but so busy all the time but will help if asked. All very good. If not I would not let my wife be with you. The only worry is at night on their own as I love my wife very much.

The staff and other visitors have always been kind and considerate towards my mother who is very happy here. My mother is always clean and well dressed. The staff contact me if they have any concerns over my mother's health or wellbeing. My family and I are always made very welcome.

As a family, we felt very strongly, that even though this time is hard for us, it was extremely important to say a massive thank you to all the staff of Paxman House at Colonia Court for the care our mother received whilst there recently.
Mum was made to feel very welcome and treated with the utmost
respect by every member of staff that met her. Special thank yous have to be given to one member of staff in particular, who made sure mum looked her best, even in her final hours.
It is, at this moment in time, very painful to realise our mother is no longer with us, but the memories we have of her and the staff at Colonia Court will help us during our process of grieving and healing.
So once again thank you so much for everything, your efforts meant the world to us all.

I am very happy with the care I have received so far during my time in Blomfield House and I am very impressed with the staff who care for me, however, they could benefit from more staff as I feel they are stretched beyond their means which can sometimes leave them very tired and stressed. I cannot
fault anything they do and they always do their best to fulfil my needs, but the home would benefit from a higher staff to resident ratio.

My mum died peacefully, in her sleep on 20th September 2019. She had been at Blomfield House for five years. She said on many occasions that she was happy in her home, that she had some very good friends and that the staff were kind and helpful.
We are very grateful for the level of care, the dedication
of the staff and the cheerful environment of the home during Mum's stay.
Our sincere thanks go to every member of staff that contributed to her experience.

I can only speak for Blomfield House. All the staff work so hard, especially the carers who not only look after the residents but the relatives as well. You are always made to feel welcome whatever time of day.
There is a special events organiser who arranges outings, entertainment, craftwork there
is something for everyone who wishes to be involved. Nice gardens to go out in. There is always someone available if you have any concerns.

Mum has been residing at Blomfield House for just under nine years and has made many new friends along the way. She respects and appreciates every staff member and claims she has "no complaints, whatsoever". The food is good and wholesome and the kitchen always goes out of their way to make sure she
enjoys each meal. The staff have learnt her routines, likes and dislikes and always have time for a chat with her; even the gardener and caretaker/handyman keep her up to date with weather forecasts and news!


Although Mum prefers to stay in her room, the Activities Organiser always lets her know what is going on in case she decides to join in. The activities within Blomfield are outstanding.


The room is small and the home is dated but Mum has said she wouldn't change a thing. Mum feels safe and extremely well looked after and the staff working in Blomfield are exceptional. Thank you all for looking after Mum so well and for being such a reliable team - well done to Blomfield's Manager:)

My husband was very happy and contented for the 6 weeks he was in Colonia Court Bloomfield House for rehab after his stroke. The staff were very good and patient. The atmosphere was very welcoming and friendly. The activities were very good for all the residents and fun. Excellent care home all round.

My mother stayed at Colonia Court for 4 1/2 years until she passed away. She suffered from dementia. We will always be grateful for the welcome we received as a family and also for the excellent care she received. She was always treated with respect, sensitivity and genuine affection.

My mum's care is very good. Mum is treated with respect if we have any issues we know we can see the staff and they will sort everything out. Cleanliness is a bit of an issue as think one staff is not enough to clean all of Colonia Court, feel sorry for the cleaners. Staff wise always made to feel welcome.

It's difficult to put into words the wonderful care and compassion shown to my husband and residents in Mumford House. My husband is so relaxed and happy.
Nothing seems too much trouble to the staff who create a calm, happy atmosphere to all in their care, residents and visitors alike.

I have been very happy with my husband's care at the home.
The last 4 months or so there appears to be a bit of a shortage of staff which worries me but I guess this can be a problem in a lot of care homes.
The food always looks good and my husband eats well, but it is often only a bit warm by the
time they get it.
I do not think the cleaning is always very good.
Cannot fault the staff.
They do their best.
Management will always see me.

Overall the staff at Colonia Court are really very good. The activities are excellent, always something happening including trips out. It is a shame that there are no activities on Wednesdays. We have no real complaints.
