Colonia Court offers nursing, residential and dementia care, as well as having a dedicated unit for people living with Huntington’s disease. It can also offer a space for people to rest, relax and recover with short stays too. It could be a few weeks to experience living here, an advanced booking if you/ your loved ones are planning a holiday or break, a month while recovering from an operation or a more long-term move. Whatever the reason, their doors are open.

Situated in a pleasant, leafy suburb, Colonia Court offers residents a modern and purpose-built home surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens. Just a short bus ride away, the home is within easy access to Colchester. There are also shops nearby for residents to visit that are within walking distance.

It is important for residents to feel at home, so it creates a friendly environment with an individually appropriate balance of care and independence. Enjoying food is an important part of life. The chefs create well-crafted menus made with the freshest ingredients and try to cater for all ethnic groups. My mum has been a resident at Colonia Court Care Home since May 2022. The staff are fantastic and are kind and considerate of Mum's needs. My mum seems content and happy when we visit. Her room is light and airy and has just been refurbished along with the communal area which is bright and clean and
always warm which is very comfortable for Mum who dislikes the cold. We are always encouraged to visit Mum and made welcome. Mum is encouraged to join in activities and the carers are very patient and kind. I am confident that Mum's needs are being met which is very reassuring and I would like to thank the staff for looking after the residents with such dedication.

My husband has been resident in Amber Lodge, Colonia Court Care Home for three years. At all times he has been treated with respect and kindness by the wonderful, caring staff.
Visits are now able to be made at short notice and my husband is always clean and comfortable.
Amber Lodge specialises
in the care of those with Huntington's, a cruel disease which requires close supervision of all residents to ensure their complex medical needs are met. The staff are trained to anticipate possible difficulties and are always alert, quickly acting should emergencies occur.
Family members are always made welcome and are part of the community of Amber Lodge.

My mum has been a resident at Blomfield House since April 2007. If there have been issues at any point they have usually been addressed and sorted out once I have spoken with staff/management. However, my mum has been rather poorly recently and the home has done really well but the difficulty has been
with the GP surgery! It has been extremely challenging and I have not found the GP surgery very supportive either to my mum or Colonia Court Care Home. I strongly feel that this is something that should be looked at in order for the home to look after their residents.

The staff are very caring and helpful, Mum really enjoys staying here, she loves all the staff. She says she is really comfortable there. She really enjoys the food, she loves tea and cake, it will be great when we can sit and have a cup of tea together, Mum often asks when we can have a drink together.

My mother recently passed away having spent a little over two years in a Mumford dementia bungalow. During that time, my mother was treated with care and dignity, right up to the end. I live abroad; however, whenever I contacted Colonia Court in order to arrange a visit or speak to my mother, the care
home would bend over backwards to assist. Colonia Court was the family's first choice of care home for my mother, who was unable to choose herself due to having dementia, and we have no regrets!

Colonia Court comprises a series of individual, long, modern, bungalow type, brick buildings in a green, traffic-free environment, with mature trees.
Blomfield House has well-kept lawns, garden areas, shrubs and trees. Accommodation comprises clean, well decorated, furnished rooms (although, some would
wish for more wardrobe space) private toilet room, washing area with basin, together with constant hot and cold water, mirror, tv point, double glazed window and central heating radiator.
Blomfield House has a comfortable, homely feel, with constant care provided by friendly, well-trained teams of dedicated carers. Various activities are provided by an energetic, imaginative activities coordinator.
Food is excellent with ample, well cooked, varied meals and alternative dishes available to individual choice.
The dining room comprises 4 seat tables, which provide flexible arrangements and long tables for main mealtimes and group activities, smaller arrangements for alternative uses.
The lounge has comfortable, although well-worn armchairs, a large terrestrial/digital tv with an online music system.
There is a full laundry service with a seven-day cycle.

Staff very kind and helpful. Meals varied and adequate. I've settled down nicely and am with my brother which I wanted, so I couldn't complain about anything.

I was admitted to Colonia Court Care Home in 2019. At that time I was somewhat apprehensive and nervous about what lay ahead for me. I was entering an environment which was very unfamiliar to me and I well remember the feeling of anxiety from within me as the ambulance arrived at Colonia Court.
My
fears were soon dispelled though as, from my first day there to my last, every single member of the team made both myself and my family so welcome and I found it very easy to settle in to my new surroundings.
In Blomfield House, the unit manager and his magnificent team, without exception, treated me and my family with the highest levels of care, dignity and kindness at all times and for which I will never be able to repay them enough for everything they did for me.
A "clap for carers" seems such a small expression of my gratitude but, from me, they all deserve a "standing ovation".

Mum moved into Paxman house just over five years ago. All the staff have been very kind, considerate, caring, giving a high level of dignity. During her stay she was happy, enjoying and joining in with the entertainment provided. I would really praise all staff, nothing was too much trouble and their
caring attitude was fantastic. Towards the end, Mum, me and my brother were given the utmost attention to which we are extremely grateful. Thank you so much for caring for my mum in the last years of her life.

My step mum and Dad have been in respite for a few weeks, we are so happy as a family to know how well looked after they both are. My Dad can be challenging at times but their care and patience is second to none thank you everyone on Mumford.

I would just like to say how welcoming Mumford House has been to my Dad who has just been given permanent residency following an initial 8-week stay after a period of ill health which has made living alone impossible. The staff have shown great care and respect and have been very supportive to our family
during a stressful and unsettling time. Dad always looks clean, well dressed and is enjoying the lovely meals. We especially enjoy seeing photos taken by the staff of him taking part in the numerous activities which will enable him to thrive and provide vital mental stimulation for him. We look forward to being more actively involved as restrictions are eased.

I required some post-operative care following major surgery for cancer. My sister located Colonia Court for a three-week stay. The home was very good explaining the terms of referral and Covid requirements. They liaised very efficiently with the hospital to arrange my admission. The staff without exception
were very kind, diligent nursing care. A very comfortable and positive experience that helped my recovery.

Our family’s experience here was very negative. We had to make formal complaints to both CQC and the ombudsman. Please check on your family member regularly if you choose to leave them here. We would not recommend this home to anyone looking for somewhere for their loved ones to stay.

Regrettably, there was an isolated incident last year that involved a member of your family that did cause distress and for that, we are sincerely sorry. Please know that have fully investigated the matter and dealt with those involved at the time so we will avoid any repeat occurrence and thankfully nothing such has happened again. We have always had a genuine regard for all of our residents and will continue to do going forward. My son has a smoking fixation. I was worried that this might be very stressful. I contacted a nurse, someone who over the years, with a doctor has been very helpful when looking after my son at home. She assured me that Bupa's staff were all trained to high standards and carer to a patient ratio. This
has put my mind at ease.

What can I say, the home is so welcoming and the staff are lovely and my husband is so well looked after and content. We have been married 60 years and never been apart, so to see him like he is makes me feel better. Thank you Colonia Court keep up the good work, and also all the staff in all departments.

I find the home excellent. The staff are very good but so busy all the time but will help if asked. All very good. If not I would not let my wife be with you. The only worry is at night on their own as I love my wife very much.
