My mother is a resident at Blomfield part of Colonia Court. It was her decision to relocate there after a stroke 3 years ago, something very welcome as I live some distance away as does my sister.
My mother is very content in the home and we are so lucky to know she is well cared for.
The staff
are wonderful because they really do care and are a stable team. Mum has developed a good relationship with them all and enjoys the banter and interest they take in her. I enjoy visiting and am made to feel welcome . I am always impressed by the frequency and creativity of the activities which mum can choose to join in. The option to see photos of Mum during activities is really welcome , especially if you are not in a position to visit as much as you would like. Not everything runs perfectly all the time but that reflects life. The motivation and the care is there and that's what's important. Whilst I praise the staff credit should also go to the management and teams behind the scenes too
Reply from Natasha Burns-Leigh, Customer Service Advisor at Colonia Court Care HomeThank you for sharing such lovely feedback. We are delighted to hear that your mother has been so happy and settled with us over the past three years. Knowing that she feels well cared for, has built strong relationships with the team, and enjoys the activities on offer means a great deal. We are also pleased that you feel welcomed when visiting and find the activity updates reassuring. Your recognition of both our frontline and behind-the-scenes teams is truly appreciated. Thank you for your kind words and continued support.

After visiting this home for over a year I can definitely say that my brother is cared for in a safe and clean environment, he is well looked after by staff who put his dignity and support foremost, everyone is friendly that we have met and pays interest in not just my brother (Stephen) previous life
but the family, so it all fills me with confidence.

My daughter has been a resident of Colonia Court Care Home for almost 3 years. In that time, my wife and I have only seen love and care shown to all the residents. Everyone of the staff show a level of care which is second to none, sometimes in very challenging situations. The unit at Amber Lodge is
led by a very caring and experienced manager. We would highly recommend this care home to anybody who is looking for a safe and caring environment for a loved one.

After a very upsetting stay at a previous home, we are delighted with the care, attitude, help and friendliness from all the staff in Paxman house, since my mother in law moved in a few weeks ago. Everyone we have spoken to, from the reception, and office staff to all the care and nursing staff has
been so helpful. The food is lovely, and nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. The cleanliness is good, and the facilities are also good. My Mother in law has just had her hair done in their salon, and was so happy after it. She is back to enjoying her food, and just generally seems to be in a much better place, than she has been for a while. They also have great activities for the residents to take part in, if they wish to do so. It also seems a safely run home, and seems to be secure at all times. We attended a meeting yesterday for Residents/visitors etc, and again were very happy with the way everything was explained to us by the staff, would recommend to anyone.

Not an easy form to complete.
I visit my friend twice weekly and find most staff very pleasant. I think they are getting to understand my friend now, being unable to move unassisted, she can get very frustrated and has been misunderstood in the past! However, 4 months later, all seems to be fine and
the staff dismiss that now and are really kind. I found the food/drink difficult as I have never seen the meal; she is on a S.A.L.T. diet.

My mum was admitted to Colonia Court for an initial four-week stay, which has since been extended while her ongoing needs are assessed. From the start, the day staff have been wonderful - kind, caring, and respectful towards mum and also myself and my sister.
Even though she is only a temporary resident,
she has been encouraged to join in with activities including themed cultural days, playing bingo and board games and a Rock and roll themed party. She has also been taken to the café at Waitrose.
The attention and care she has received have made a noticeable difference to her health. Simple things like eating and drinking regularly and having her hair done have helped her feel brighter and become more engaged. She now spends her days interacting with other residents and participating in activities, which has improved her quality of life.
I am very happy with the care she is receiving and have peace of mind that she is in a safe and supportive environment.

We visited the care home on 20th August 2025 to take part in a small celebration for my sister's 90th birthday. Both my wife and I thought that the staff helped to make the occasion special. Guests attending the party were made to feel welcome and comfortable. Teas and coffees were made throughout the
event and help was on hand with passing round the sandwiches and cakes provided by my niece. Our experience on the day reflects the feeling we have had on a number of visits to Colonia Court that the staff provide an excellent level of care to my sister and to my brother-in-law who is also a resident, doing so with good humour, compassion and professionalism. Thank you.

A big concern of ours when we made the hard decision that our dear mum needed proper permanent care. We could not have wished for a better place for her (Mumford House) the staff are great and so good with mum and she is well looked after. The food is also good and tasty and served at regular times.
Her room is comfortable and safe, and she is slowly settling in after a couple of months. It puts our minds at rest now knowing she is safe and well cared for every day.

Care staff are great. Stretched at times, but not to detriment of residents. The unit (Mumford) looks tired + they need more sensory stimulation + activities in the garden. Garden needs work - uneven + pagoda rotten.
Biggest issue: laundry, lost/ruined clothes. (20 odd socks at last check!) trousers
shrunk, jumpers, etc stretched/unironed.

My Auntie was admitted to Colonia Court Paxman House 4 weeks ago with terminal Cancer. I can not put into words the excellent care she received. The love shown to her each time the staff walked into her room was amazing she loved them all. All the family also received the same love and support always
making sure everyone was eating and drinking and taking rest whenever they could and even a hug when they could see it was needed. We as a family will be forever be gratefull for how they made the last 4 weeks of her life so much better. How do you thank them for that.

A lovely atmosphere, very friendly and welcoming. There was a routine so residents were able to work out what would come next. Although it was flexible so individuals were able to do other things. On a negative note the TV in the main lounge was very intermittent, on the main channels, only worked with
films. I had a problem which I mentioned to the management which was instantly solved, and addressed and put in action for my husband, the resident. I would recommend this home for friends and family.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.691)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.691) out of 10 for Colonia Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.691 for Colonia Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (254 Excellents x 5) + (69 Goods x 4) + (16 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 340 Ratings = 4.691
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Colonia Court Care Home is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 123 registered maximum number of service users is 24.6, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews.
