A caring, patient staff in a welcoming atmosphere. Well furnished, varied activities and atmosphere more like a hotel.
Abbotts Barton is a very friendly home. You always get a warm welcome from the front desk staff when you visit and they are always helpful when you phone. Each resident has a dedicated staff member and it is great to speak to them, either face to face or on the phone about a resident's care plan or any other issues. Staff are always friendly, helpful and happy to help. Many staff - both nursing and housekeeping have been with this home for several years which is a strong indicator of loyalty and being happy in their workplace. I am kept well informed of any issues regarding my mother's care and wellbeing, there is always good dialogue. Recent 'churn' in home managers did lead to some instability but the return of a previous deputy as the new home manager will provide a strong sense of continuity. I was delighted to hear of her return as she is a 'safe pair of hands' with a nursing background as well as an experienced manager. We are very happy with the care and attention my mother receives.
I came to stay for 10 days following hip replacement surgery in order to regain my mobility and confidence before returning home, where I live alone. I was visited in hospital by Head of Care to ensure that all aspects of my stay were appropriate to my needs. On arrival, all staff from the Manager down were immediately attentive to my requirements. The home is particularly well designed with central lounges and there are stairs and a lift on each floor with access to the garden through the lounge or dining room. The gardens are maintained and it is a pleasure to walk around the pathways. The laundry service is very efficient. There is a daily programme of activities in the lounge. The meals are nutritious and well presented. The dining room staff are courteous and obliging to cater for particular needs. The nursing staff are available day and night to assist in medication and care. The home is ideal for short or longer term residents who are content and cheerful.
My mother moved into the home following a medical error in Southampton. We spent months looking for a care home and discussed dozens as unsuitable. My mother has been in the home for over eight years now and I and the family cannot speak too highly of Abbotts Barton, management, care staff, catering and domestic. My mother is happy, well cared for and liked by the staff.
Visited by senior nurse and newly appointed care manager prior to respite stay. Very thorough. Interest shown in my husband's interests, needs, medication etc. Very well located room. Very clean and prepared for my husband's stay. Helped to settle him in by staff both ancillary and nursing staff. Helped my husband to be involved in activities where appropriate. Taken into garden several times. Visiting friends reported back - good care, respectful staff. Looked well kept and well fed. A well run and caring environment for vulnerable patients.
I cannot recommend Abbotts Barton more highly. The staff are totally dedicated to seeing that not only the patient but also their family are looked after as if they were their own. Nothing is too much trouble, and whatever they do, they smile and put the family first, be it providing family meals, comforting for grieving family members, or just bringing tea and coffee. Thank you everyone at Abbotts Barton. We were so lucky to get a room at your wonderful care home. My husband was looked after so very well.
This is an outstanding nursing home that we have and will continue to recommend to friends.
My mother spent 3 weeks at Abbotts Barton and was very well looked after by all the staff. She had a very nice room and enjoyed the daily activities, meals and facilities. We would highly recommend Abbotts Barton to anyone seeking a safe and happy home for their elderly relatives.
I was made very welcome by everyone and had excellent care all round.
Due to illness at Christmas across the home, it was closed as a precaution. The home kindly re ran Christmas lunch for all residents and there guests. It was a fantastic event and nice for me to have two Christmas dinner within a month.
My husband and I attended a late Christmas lunch. Held to compensate for Christmas blighted by D&V which resulted in my mother being confined to her room and unable to spend Christmas with us. The lunch was well organised, the food was very good and the service excellent. We enjoyed meeting other residents and their guests. All in all I would say it was a great success.
Enjoyed a fun "delayed Christmas" celebration at Abbotts Barton. The full Christmas meal was delicious and the room was full of chatter and laughter, with gentle music played by an excellent trio in the background.
Clean, good food, excellent care with attention to detail. All staff are very pleasant and cheerful and caring.
I found the care "I needed" excellent and only had to ask should I need anything. I was here for 2 weeks after a hip operation.
