Overall Experience

My stepfather went into Brendoncare Knightwood in May 2017 until his death in March 2019. During that time he was very contented, well looked after in every possible way and actually enjoyed being part of the community within the care home. The home is, in my opinion, on a par with a five-star hotel - immaculately clean and with extremely capable, caring staff. Not once did I visit him to find him in any state other than clean, well fed and happy. I couldn't have asked for him to be cared for any better.

My father spent the last two weeks of his life here. The care and compassion shown to him was immense.
The staff showed a care way beyond "just a job".

I can't put into words what that meant to my mother and I and indeed my father. I can't put a price on what it meant. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home to other people.

Brendoncare Knightwood is an excellent care home made even better by the people that work there.

The genuine care, warmth, attentiveness, compassion and kindness of the care staff, both day and night. The enthusiasm of the activities coordinator, the support, reassurance, interaction and willingness of management to engage and assist, the thoroughness and commitment of the cleaners and laundry staff, the friendliness of the maintenance and kitchen staff, the warmth of welcome at reception, the excellence of the volunteers, all go to make Brendoncare Knightwood an excellent care home.

Overall Experience

After a fairly serious operation, in my early nineties, I came that first night at home from hospital with the realisation as a widow that no way would I be able to cope with the house and garden. My daughter found this care home and I was fortunate enough to have the last room. Since that rather traumatic move, I have found all the staff friendly and kind making me feel that here is indeed my home. Brendoncare Knightwood Court is small in number, every room occupied and we are made to feel a family inasmuch we and staff are one. We mostly dine together in small tables with fresh flowers on our tables, regular music played daily on our music centre - we all love jazz as well as soft sleepy love songs - I think the staff also enjoy it!

Should any problems arise the door to the Manager's office to the staff room, the door is always open.

I have been here now for almost 2 years, friends and family are always welcomed as are visitors dogs, who always seem to know where the best treats are found.

My mother was impressed with the warmth, friendliness and professionalism of all staff. She was well looked after. She has had short stays at Knightwood for the last 10 years and this facility has helped mum to enjoy time with her family nearby.

I can't speak highly enough of all at Brendoncare Knightwood - it is very well run.

Overall Experience

During her last years my Mum lived at Brendoncare Knightwood Court where she was, without fail, treated with thoughtful and dignified care and respect by all staff, day and night.

Care, housekeeping, maintenance and management staff consistently showed patience and friendly interest in their dealings with her, and genuine concern that she was content. They made her feel secure and well cared for every single day.

Her room, with its view of, and direct access to, the garden, enabled her to continue her lifelong interest in watching the birds and squirrels, from the comfort of her chair, when she became unable to use the lovely garden pathways.

The little touches such as colourful modern artwork in corridors, flower arrangements, and clean linen on dining tables helped make the atmosphere as homely as possible.

This summer our whole family benefitted from the sympathetic support provided to us by all of the staff in Mum's final weeks, and we will be forever grateful.

Mum was living at Brendoncare for nearly nine years and from day one until the end she was extremely happy there. Socially, she was involved until her latter time there and the care from everyone involved with her was first class. Nothing was too much trouble from first thing in the morning until the last thing at night. We, as a family, cannot thank you all enough.

Overall Experience
Knightwood is an excellent care home and I would be happy to live there. The staff interact with my mother with care and respect, and I have never seen them treat her like a child. In my experience, Knightwood diverged from Excellent in April in only 2 categories. Lunch one day was not so good - the roast beef was tough and difficult to cut for some residents. Sometimes the menu can change at short notice, but overall the standard is between good and excellent.
I have given Security a score of Good because the other day I was able to enter the home with nobody in reception and I am not sure anybody saw me though I would have been on the CCTV. Also on another day, somebody opened the window while cleaning my mother's room while we were at lunch and left it open, which I don't think was a good idea because her room is on the ground floor.

These points apart, I'm very happy my mother is in Knightwood and I do not worry about her at all.

Finding the team at Brendoncare Knightwood has been like meeting an 'angel' in time of need and they have helped transform our lives. Supporting elderly parents to maintain dignity in later years is a challenge that is hard to prepare for, and Knightwood has helped us all make the transition and start to rebuild a future during times of great insecurity and uncertainty. The warmth and care in a beautiful, clean, bright and intuitive surrounding has been incredible and a great source of comfort. We cannot thank you enough.

All the staff are kind and helpful and they treat my wife more as a family member than a patient. Sometimes staffing problems, because of sickness, does mean agency staff are not as good as the permanent staff. The rooms are spotless and the food is very nutritious and of a high quality with plenty of choice. No complaints at all.

My father became a resident here in December 2016. Unfortunately, he is now on palliative care and Knightwood, as a team, led by the Manager have been brilliant. We could ask for no more as they think of everything and more. The hospital where my father was were very impressed by Knightwood. They didn't say they would have him back, they said it was his home and they wanted him back. The support for my mother and the rest of family have been second to none.

In respite for two weeks. Overall excellent.
The senior staff were superb, but the junior/younger ones could do with more training.
Frankly, everyone leaving hospital should be able to have the use of this kind of facility.

Thank you so much.
