My mum was a resident of Canford Manor Nursing Home for just over 2 Years. During that time, throughout Covid, she was cared for with great kindness and dedication. This was particularly apparent during her last days. Not only did the staff, whatever their role, look after and care for her, but they did the same for her daughters too. We could not have been in a kinder place in which to spend our last days and hours with Mum. I cannot praise the staff enough. The care was exemplary. Mum could not have been in a better place. I would recommend Canford Manor to anyone who is looking for somewhere for their relative to be treated with kindness and respect.

My mum, who has recently died at the age of 98, was a resident at Canford Manor for two years. Throughout her time there, the care she received was excellent. The staff are all so kind and caring, whatever their role is and build wonderful relationships with the residents and their relatives. The facilities are excellent, and the staff work hard to keep the residents active and stimulated. During Covid and lockdown, they did everything possible to keep the residents in contact with their relatives and to allow visitors in at the first opportunity. The kindness shown to those of us visiting Mum towards the end of her life was amazing; the staff cared for us as well as Mum, something we will always be grateful for. I would recommend Canford Manor as an excellent nursing care home.

Very impressed with the staff who are attentive and friendly and don’t talk down to residents. Great staff continuity. Rooms are a reasonable size and have large windows that open. The care home smells like a normal home, which is very good and also unusual.

My mother has resided at Canford Manor Care Home for two years now, through thick and thin, Covid included. I cannot fault the cheerful, professional staff or the facilities and my mother has been cared for to the highest standards. Highly recommended to anyone looking for residential care.

My dear mother was in Canford Manor Nursing Home's care for six-eight months and we found out in June 2021 that this was the place where she was going to spend her end of life. All the staff were kind, caring and patient: one member of staff was our main point of call and she was very kind and gentle, as we were constantly calling from afar as Manchester and overseas from New Zealand, where we had to arrange lots of things - ordering a fridge for her room; translating a lot of things from English to Chinese and they gave us permission to make her room beautiful, decorated with photos and colourful paper fans. Another member of staff was extremely patient and compassionate when it came to agreeing her end of life care plan and deciding how we made her final days as comfortable and pain-free as possible. One nurse was there during my mum's final hours and was extremely comforting to our family. Another nurse was there after our mother died and she gave us the time, respect, space and dignity to grieve and be with her. A wonderful place filled with love. Thank you.

All the staff were lovely, very caring and supportive. I was given accurate and helpful updates about my father e.g. what medication he had. I was always made welcome and staff appeared skilled and sensitive. It was such a comfort to know my father had the best quality care at the end of his life.

My mother-in-law was not in Canford Manor for long, but in the time she was there I found the service and care to be exceptional. Every team member I came into contact with was understanding, caring and compassionate. They never seemed rushed even though they were obviously busy. They treated all of us with respect and so clearly were dedicated and caring individuals. It's such a worrying time when you have a sick, elderly relative but we had to worry slightly less knowing she was in good hands.

I have found the staff very helpful and pleasant always willing to listen. My husband has always been treated well, his room is clean and comfortable. The management has been very good at keeping the home safe, however, I do find talking to my husband behind a screen difficult as with Parkinson's his speech is slurred.

Reply from Jane Palmer, Director at Canford Manor Nursing Home

Thank you very much for your kind words, which we will share with the team. It's so tricky with the visiting restrictions at the moment, but we feel passionately that visits should continue, even if behind a screen. Hopefully, soon, we'll have the rapid tests and/or vaccine that will make visits with hugs (and no screens!) possible. We'll keep you posted in the usual way.

A welcoming, caring, friendly atmosphere. Good, well-maintained facilities, coupled with staff who, obviously worked well together as a strong team. Despite delays in hospital transport availability, management at Canford Manor remained helpful and friendly. We were sorry Dad only spent 18 days here before, sadly, passing away after a few days in hospital.

I can highly recommend Canford Manor Nursing Home as they couldn’t have done more to accommodate our 95-year-old mother since she moved there in August this year. This was not a decision we took lightly but the manager was there to help from the start. With her knowledge, experience and reassurance, we knew this was the best option for mum and she has done everything she can to make things as easy as possible for all of us. The numerous staff are very friendly and approachable, they treat the residents like family and genuinely seem to care about them. The home is clean, well looked after and feels more like a hotel than a Nursing Home. We feel much happier about our Mum’s situation now and can relax knowing she is safe and well cared for.

Canford Manor has been a huge help to my dad and all of his family. The staff are amazing we wouldn't be able to manage without them. Although they are very busy, the staff will always stop to help and advise in any way they can. I can't praise them enough, fantastic!

My nan loved Canford almost as much as her own home. All the girls were so lovely to her and she formed real bonds with some of them. The home itself is beautiful but not in an uncomfortable show home place, it really is their home from home.
nan loved joining in with the activities. She loved seeing the rabbits in the garden and spending time with people who genuinely cared for her.

Nothing was ever too much trouble for anyone and that shows what a great team the manager has.

My mother arrived as a bit of an emergency but was welcomed warmly. Everything about the home form the rooms and decor to all the staff was above and beyond our expectations. It wasn't just my mother that was looked after but as, as her family. Such a warm, friendly place that could not have done more for us all. I know where I will be booking when my time comes!

Staff were always professional and kind, despite my uncle's episodes of paranoia, frustration and bitterness. They offered him every service, even if he frequently declined and at times spent hours reassuring him.

He did not want to be there but staff looked after him as well as he would let them. We visited often and at all times and always found an open, warm and professional welcome. The nurses particularly were heroes. The home made his death as bearable and dignified as possible. The manager told me, "This is your Uncle's home, not ours." She meant it.
