My mum has been resident here for a number of years and throughout that time the care she has recieved has been exemplary.
She has advanced dementia and the carers have quickly learnt how to look after her and respond to her needs.
Mum is always happy, clean and well dressed and clearly has a good
relationship with all the carers that look after her.
The home routines are adapted to fit mums needs, for example, as she takes a very long time to eat food is available for her most of the time and monitored to ensure adequate nutrition.
The home is very responsive to mums needs and proactive in providing the best care possible. Communication with the family on any issues, however minor, is always quick and clear.
In my opinion the care offered here is first class

The staff are all very friendly and welcoming on every visit. The communal areas and my dad's room are always clean and tidy. It's good that every time we have a concern about my dad, it is taken seriously and dealt with promptly. My dad has been here 3 years now and I do believe it's the best care
he could receive in his condition.

We first chose Marie Louise home as first impressions from the staff was lovely, they all were smiling and a very good atmosphere was felt, the home is in beautiful grounds. The home not only supported my mother they helped the family cope with the sadness of seeing my mothers declines. They made all
our visits to her so much easier. Overall we couldn't thank everyone enough.

Lounge chairs a bit shabby. Food tables require some maintenance.
Reply from Justine Ellory, Business Development Manager at Marie Louise HouseDear B W,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

We're sorry to hear that aspects of the lounge furniture and dining tables did not meet expectations. Providing a comfortable and well-maintained environment for our residents is extremely important to us.
We are pleased to share that plans are already underway to refresh the lounge seating and carry out maintenance to the dining furniture to ensure the home continues to feel welcoming and homely for everyone.

My wife has been at Marie Louise House since November 2025 on the Nightingale unit, as she has Alzheimer's. At Marie Louise House, the staff really care about my wife and her fellow residents. I and my family have all experienced many of the team members who go way beyond their designated roles to ensure
my wife is as happy as possible, whilst being safe and healthy as she can be. Whether that is knowing her name, saying hello and asking how she is to engage her in activities. This is true whether they work in any department.
Reply from Justine Ellory, Business Development Manager at Marie Louise HouseDear Michael,
Thank you so much for your wonderful review. It truly means a great deal to us.
Joyce and the entire Nightingale team are deeply committed to providing the very best care here at Marie Louise House, and they take immense pride in supporting each of our residents as individuals.
Knowing your wife's name, understanding what brings her comfort, and helping her engage in meaningful activities are all part of ensuring she feels safe, valued and at home.

It is a genuine privilege to care for your wife, and we are so grateful for the trust you and your family have placed in us. Your kind words will be shared with the whole team.

My Mother has been in Marie Louise Home for almost a year.
I cannot fault the care shown by the care staff - they are patient, compassionate and kind especially as my Mother has deteriorated greatly in her health over the last couple of months.
The staff are always friendly and pleasant and some
in particular are exceptional without naming names. It is good that there is very little evidence of agency staff which makes it easier to get to know that staff looking after Mum.
The food is excellent and always hot and well cooked.
The rooms are comfortable and spacious enough for the needs of elderly people.
My only complaint would be the complete lack of communication from the management of the home. I have e-mailed with queries on funding which have not been replied to and there has been no official feedback to me on my Mother's health etc since she went in last year. Luckily the nursing staff make up for this shortfall.

My mother was brought into Marie Louise a month ago after a fall. I cannot praise the staff and facilities highly enough. She is so very happy and it is a joy to see how relaxed and comfortable she is. The many and varied activities have proved a very important part of her day - she is so enjoying the
company and stimulation.
She enjoys every aspect of her day and she seems not to want to return home! Such caring and kind staff.
Highly recommended.

After a bad fall at home, my grandmother decided to go to Marie Louise House for some respite. She is having a great time. The staff have been so kind and respectful. The food has been amazing and there are always fun and engaging activities for the residents to get involved with if they wish. Her room
is fantastic and there’s a really relaxed atmosphere in the home. Communication with the home has been fantastic. It provides such peace of mind knowing that she is being well cared for and nurtured back to health. She describes it as being on holiday! We love going to visit her and it’s lovely seeing how the staff interact with all of the residents.

My Mum was here from September to December 2020, where she received wonderful support for Alzheimer's and lovely care at end of life as we couldn't visit due to Covid.
Dad was moved here in July 2020 from hospital after a massive stroke in May.
The staff ensured that Mum and Dad saw each other every
day despite being on different wards, Dad was the only person Mum could connect with due to her disease.
The staff supported Dad through his grieving during our enforced absence.
All staff, including admin, were so supportive of our family and we really can't thank them enough.
One member of staff attended Dad's funeral today on her day off and we really appreciate it and understand that others wanted to attend but current staff pressures made this impossible.
You are an amazing team and I thoroughly recommend you to anyone facing the hard decision of finding suitable residential care for a loved family member.

This is such a great nursing home, I can't fault it. The staff are more than staff to the residents, they care so much for the residents and the home is run brilliantly. It's clean and bright and has a well-planned schedule of activities. The staff are excellently trained and thoughtful. My mum is really

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.383)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.383) out of 10 for Marie Louise House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.608 for Marie Louise House is calculated as follows: ( (86 Excellents x 5) + (37 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 130 Ratings = 4.608
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Marie Louise House is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
