If your admission to the care home is assessed as requiring nursing care, you may be entitled to funding by the NHS. This is called NHS Funded Nursing Care Contribution (FNC) and is a contribution made by the NHS towards supporting the provision of registered nursing care to eligible care home residents. The payment is made directly by the NHS to the care home where the nursing care is being provided, and the Resident does not receive any money directly.
If the responsible CCG has assessed that the Resident is eligible for FNC, any payments received will be deducted from the Total Fees. The Resident will, however, remain liable for the Total Fees if FNC funding is withdrawn or if the CCG defaults on payment.

The standard and level of care at Marie Louise House is out of this world.
I could not ask for my nan to be cared for in a better place.
The staff are not only supportive and caring to my nan but also us as a family. Knowing how loved and cared for my nan is here, gives us all peace of mind and can
see how happy she is.
The home is always clean and secure and has a lovely atmosphere.
The overall standard of Marie Louise House is hard to fault. It is a home from home for my nan. We could not ask for more.

Staff are consistently patient, kind and compassionate. Residents are treated with respect, yet encouraged to be involved where possible, if this is appropriate. Nonetheless, a resident's wishes are always considered.
Nursing care appears exemplary.
Altogether the best option for anyone needing advanced
care.

Overall very happy with the care that Dad has been receiving. Grandad/Dad is comfortable and keeps in good health. Staff are all attentive and friendly. Have noticed that this room does not seem to be tidied/wiped down on a regular basis.

The care to residents and their relatives was excellent and cannot be faulted.
The general facilities and cleanliness were excellent. The building was being refurbished at the time.
The room itself was good but it was disappointing, given that the fees cost a lot, that a chest of drawers was broken
and remained so for much of his stay.
In nursing homes, it must be a problem to provide food to satisfy all tastes, appetites and swallowing difficulties. However, I think it has to be described as very bland.
My father had a poor appetite in the nursing home but when we took him out to a meal in a pub, he tucked in with gusto.
Losing articles of clothing in the laundry was a problem but it seems to occur in all nursing homes.

My experience was very good in all areas. The staff were kind both to patients and their visitors. All areas of the building are bright, roomy and most have pleasant views of the spacious gardens. Any questions a relative may have is always answered readily and helpfully.

My mother has been a resident here for 2 years and my father visited frequently. He suddenly passed away in July. The home could not have been more helpful. We had the funeral cars leave from the home and had the wake afterwards. This was so right my mum as the principal mourner. The food and catering
were all excellent (60 people) and nothing was too much trouble.

Thank you for the feedback. We were so sorry for the passing of your father, as a frequent visitor to the home he became one of the family and will be missed. Our thoughts are with you and your family.

My Father moved into Marie Louise House after a spell of 9 months in hospital. He had deteriorated both physically and mentally during that time. However, after only a week or so in Marie Louise House he started to return to his old self! He responded so well to their excellent care and social stimulus.
His mental health improved immeasurably and he was so happy. His weight increased due to the good food and his new well being. Thank you Marie Louise House for your care and the love you showed to my Father.

Have now visited this home twice, most recently for 2.5 hours over lunchtime. What is striking is that the staff without exception acknowledged us as visitors and offered refreshment more than once. On both occasions, it was clear that the staff were well trained and happy. They went the extra mile
for the residents.

This reflects well on the management.

The home is smart and well maintained though we were told it is about to be refurbished.

Food looked great. I think I would put on weight very quickly as a resident.

Admission to a care home is a difficult prospect for the individual concerned and their family. Marie Louise House staff were sensitive to these issues and did all they could to ease our concerns. During the admission process, they were extremely kind and helpful. They were very friendly and struck
the right balance between being serious about important things whilst also encouraging us in a cheerful and jovial way. My relative was made very welcome on his arrival, as were family members. All the staff we met greeted us and introduced themselves and each other by name. The atmosphere at Marie Louise House is lovely. Staff are very kind to the residents and their relatives and also seem to be very nice to each other. All family members have been reassured by their visits and by our interactions with Marie Louise House staff. We feel very fortunate that Marie Louise House was able to offer our relative a bed. We are confident that he will receive very good care, in lovely surroundings, from staff who are respectful but friendly and genuinely kind and caring.

My mother has been a resident at Marie House for 18 months. She arrived very frail, confused, frightened, skin and bone and unacceptable of change she is 84. Marie House have been completely pro-active in bringing my mother back to not only a good state of health, but also mind. Through good observation
with nutrition, she has put on 1 ½ stone in weight and with their dedicated care and encouragement she now joins in most of the daily activities and socialises with the other residents. It is a lovely environment for her to be in and complete peace of mind of me knowing that she has the best of care and most importantly she is happy.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.642)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.642) out of 10 for Marie Louise House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.875 for Marie Louise House is calculated as follows: ( (43 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.875
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.767 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Marie Louise House is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.2 = 0.392
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
