My mum has been at Hartwell Lodge for only a week. She had been in the hospital for over 3 months. So far she has settled in really well and all the staff have been so lovely to her.

The manager is very caring and has gone above and beyond to help my mum settle. For this, we are very grateful. My mum has even started to eat little amounts as the food is so tempting!

My brother and I moved our mother into Hartwell Lodge in Feb 18 when it became evident she could no longer be at home even with support and it was the best thing we could have done. The staff have been wonderful and mum is so happy there. She tells me every time I visit how glad she is to be there and how lucky we were to find the home. And that's what it is - a home. The staff treat people kindly and affectionately as if they are friends and relatives. Mum has become frailer and is now permanently in bed but staff pop in and out to chat and make sure she's comfortable. They seem to go out of their way to help her and by doing that help me as well.

My mother is very happy to be a resident and refers to this care home as her home. The staff are very caring and both my sister and I are very happy with the care she is receiving.

We were so glad to find Hartwell Lodge when we were looking for a respite space for my father for a month. We were struck by the care of the staff, their positive and engaged attitude and the homely feel of the home. My father has since chosen to remain in Hartwell, as his mobility decreases and we have been so pleased to see him increasingly participate in the life of the home. We continue to be very grateful to the staff for all they are doing for him.

My mum moved to this care home 6 months ago. I was helped with sorting out the move by the manager who made it all seem easy and not a problem to do. Mum has been happy there (or as happy as she probably ever will be) after her stroke. The staff are kind, caring and very patient even when mum is being difficult and grumpy which she can be. The staff seem happy and enjoy being with the residents and helping them.
Mum has recently moved in with me and my family and once again the manager has sorted things out and is happy for me to get in touch if I need advice. Mum is also returning to Hartwell Lodge for daycare which has been an absolute saviour for me and hopefully will be able to go there for respite care.
I appreciate much more now what a difficult job carers have.

I cannot thank Hartwell Lodge enough for caring for mum and hope she can continue going there for some time to come.

We had to find a suitable care home for our Auntie and therefore had to view four establishments and Hartwell, the last one on our list was Hartwell Lodge, from the moment we stepped inside you felt it was the right place, both ourselves and another friend of my auntie reviewed the different care homes and both selected Hartwell, further to that we both chose the same bedroom.
Both agreed that the management was very open and honest they explained they had been under an improvement review and they were nearly there at top marks, if this review was to go by then a few more homes MUST have them ASAP.
Since then my brother's health went downhill and it was agreed that he should go into a home, for his own safety, through respite for his sister and carer we had visited my brother in numerous care homes in the Fareham area, we requested he went into Hartwell

All in all, a very good choice and good value compared to some of the care homes in the area.

My auntie and uncle were lucky enough to be referred to Hartwell lodge for respite care for my uncle and end of life care for my auntie who was diagnosed with terminal cancer just 4 weeks previously.

It was amazing they were given a double room so that they could be together, in my aunties last days. It meant that my uncle could also be cared for, his meals provided, and most importantly he could be with his wife of 62 years.

My auntie passed away, which was very sad but the staff were incredible, their care and professionalism were excellent. My uncle has now gone back home, but if in the future he needs more support we would have no hesitation to return to such a caring, well run establishment.

We have been very impressed and grateful for the care given to residents at Hartwell lodge. It had been very difficult trying to find the right home for our family member but this move has been managed very efficiently and sensitively.
The staff have made a great effort to get to know him quickly and he has settled in very well and is happy for the first time in many months.
We are kept informed and up to date but also have the reassurance that everything is being looked after and managed properly.

I cannot thank the manager and her staff enough for what they have done and would highly recommend Hartwell Lodge for the quality of the care given.

Having lived independently for a number of years in November, my 93-year-old mother became very unwell and domiciliary care was insufficient. My brother and I had previously looked at the above care home and the manager visited Mum at home and mum was admitted 4 days later.

After 2 weeks of superb nursing care, brilliant nutrition and dedicated care Mum is stronger, livelier and happier than she has been for years! Everything is above excellent and we can visit anytime. We are thrilled!

I found Merry Hall to be an excellent place - full of cheerful and very caring staff. They look after their residents very well and absolutely nothing seems to be too much trouble for them, whether cleaning staff, medical, pastoral or managerial. My parents-in-law were made to feel welcome immediately and sensitively helped to deal with the transition from independent to assisted living.

We looked at a number of homes before settling on Merry Hall - you can easily pay rather more for a great deal less care elsewhere.

This is a small, friendly and caring home. The residents are treated with dignity, in a happy environment and encouraged to take part in daily activities. The staff take the time to speak and listen to residents and try hard to respect their wishes - no mean feat when dealing with those suffering from dementia whose wishes may change from one minute to the next!

Residents are offered a good choice of meals at lunchtime and the home has recently introduced more variety at tea time. Residents and relatives are given the opportunity to voice opinions and preferences with regard to meals, activities etc.

We moved my Mother-in-law to Merry Hall from a larger nursing home (boasting an outstanding award from the CQC) as we felt the care aspect there was failing which is of the utmost importance.

We are pleased to have found Merry Hall - and can be confident that our Mum is well cared for.

Staff are excellent. Seem short of numbers, the hall is well maintained. Food is good- at times too much. Coffee's good. Sometimes have to wait for support but with 30 rooms here a lot of people need help- not many in the lounge. Hairdressing excellent. Very good washing clothes and help when having a shower.

My dad went to Merry Hall from hospital for end of life care, he was very poorly and had given up, they looked after him with dignity and brought fun back into his life. They cooked him what he wanted as he hadn't eaten for weeks and encouraged him to drink. Mum went in all day every day and they looked after her as well, she joined him for meals. This is so important as such a sad time. The family were always made welcome. We couldn't have asked for better care! Thank you to each one of them.

The team were very friendly and caring. My husband went there from hospital for end of life care and he had all but given up. They looked after him with dignity and brought fun back into his life, he said that he enjoyed being there. I went every day to be with him and joined in with activities and meals and am so grateful to have been able to share this time with him.

The day before he passed was my birthday and they gave me a lovely day under such sad circumstances. I have been invited to go back to visit friends I made and have lunch with them. They are all wonderful people. Well done team.

Merry Hall Nursing & Residential Home was a warm and welcoming home for my father-in-law. The staff were very professional, caring and friendly at all times, always willing to help even when extremely busy. Accommodation was attractive and comfortable and suitable. All the food and drinks were tasty and in suitable quantities, with the chef who was happy to personalise menus. Thank you.

Since the new management has been implemented there have been significant changes in the nursing home. Particularly to a new dining room which is lighter and more welcoming, the inclusion of family to have meals with their relatives in the home. The carers are lovely and they appear to work more efficiently. My mother is well cared for and I can only speak on her behalf and thank all the staff for supporting her. May the home fo from strength to strength.
