A friend has been a resident for some 5-months and sadly passed away today. In fairness to the staff, he was difficult and obstinate, towards the end of his life refusing to get out of bed and refusing both food and medication. However, I believe that the nursing staff went beyond the call of duty to
endure his comfort and well-being. The admin team were both helpful and supportive to friends and relatives. In all highly recommended.

Right from my initial enquiry concerning end of life care for my mother and her transfer from hospital to the prompt collection of her corpse by the funeral directors, I was impressed by the professional managers of Solent Cliffs. My particular gratitude is owed to the staff, who, without exceptions,
were capable, courteous and helpful at all times. The only reservation I have about Solent Cliffs is attributable to the fact that it was not a purpose-built facility; it consists of subsequent extensions, and the narrow corridors resemble nothing as much as a rabbit-warren. I was allowed access to my mother as wished.

I have nothing but praise for the excellent care and attention provided by the team at Solent Cliffs for my mum. In particular, my special thanks go to the registered
manager in helping me out at very short notice in an extremely challenging and stressful situation, and getting my mum settled in very
quickly and making her feel loved.
All the staff are extremely friendly, hardworking, communicative and totally committed to making sure Mum was very well cared for. I cannot thank them enough. I, therefore, have no hesitation in recommending Solent Cliffs to anyone.

I last submitted a review in 2018 and never thought I would still be reviewing again two years later. My Mum is now 95 years old, having miraculously survived her end of life prognosis four years ago and latterly, free from catching coronovirus and a few health scares in between. It has been hard for
us all, having several lockdowns to deal with and long spells with no visiting and even harder for the team at Solent Cliffs to manage with keeping our loved ones safe. We have learnt we have to be patient and accept that the rules are there to keep Mum and the staff safe. Without their care and dedication, I have no doubt that we wouldn't have shared four more birthdays and Christmases with her in our lives. Mum's dementia has stepped up through the various phases that this dreadful disease presents, she needs lots of love and reassurances and we are thankful that she gets this in bucket loads.

My mother spent the last 13 months of her life at this care home.
The way she was treated after her passing was totally and utterly disgusting.
She was left in her room for 17 hours with the door shut untouched and unwashed.
Absolutely no dignity shown.
They have nurses working there who have
no clue about end of life treatment.
Disgusting.

We are sorry you had a poor experience during this sad time, particularly as your mother had a very happy 13 months in our care. So understandably it is disappointing now to find your mother was left unattended. We accepted our duty of candour, expressed verbally and in several letters to you. Once again on behalf of Solent Cliffs we apologise. As you know it was the weekend and the OOH GP was contacted more than once to certify your mother's passing, which did not occur until 14.40 the following day. This was some 14 hours later following which the care team immediately attended to your mother and made every effort to preserve her dignity. The records state the team communicated with you throughout and kept you informed of reasons for the delay. The room was made presentable, window open and fan on to keep the room cool.

My Mum had got COVID-19 in the care home and we feared the worst. But the staff have been fantastic. My Mum survived from COVID and I have managed to visit. I couldn't recommend Solent Cliffs enough. The staff is fantastic and the standard of care is second to none.

I would not recommend this nursing home, lack of support, and care towards a 96-year-old bedridden war veteran. Even after numerous complaints, nothing changed appalling. Even when self-funding at an extortionate amount of money. Have now moved my father to a new home as he was so unhappy.

If given enough opportunity to know more about your father and your active involvement, we could have moved forward in a positive direction.

We have always been very happy that my husband has been at Solent Cliffs. Every single member of staff from top to bottom always work together to create a loving, caring environment. I have never heard an unkind word or action with any residents. Relatives are included as part of the family. During
the lockdown, everyone has pulled together covering any job in order to keep things going and always done with a smile.

I would just like to thank every single member of staff that cared for my father while he was in your care.


Dad had dementia and some of the things he got up to were extremely challenging for the staff but they handled it with professionalism and with humour.


I can’t thank all the staff for what

they did and the time they dedicated to him, from management, nursing staff, care staff cleaning or laundry staff, you are all wonderful people.

My father passed away on the 2nd of October and I will be eternally grateful not only on my behalf but also on my father's behalf as well. Total discretion was required to keep him there and they were second to none.


Many thanks to everyone and I will not forget what you’ve all done for us.

My aunt went to Solent Cliffs from hospital in September 2017 following a stroke. She required round-the-clock care as she was unable to do anything for herself. The members of staff that I had dealings with were outstanding, not just in their care they provided but in the dedicated way the went about
it.
Good facilities at the home and her room had a view across the Solent to the Isle of Wight. This meant a lot to her as the sea played an important part in her life. The home made her last six months as good as they could have been.

Really excellent caring culture and both the quality and compassion shown by all the staff is really top draw. As the building is not purpose built, other homes can appear slightly better, but this is being addressed with a programme of fairly extensive improvements.


Despite this slight shortcoming,

the premises are maintained to a very high standard.


As a retired Business Analyst, I am acknowledged as a person who is difficult to please, because I expect the highest professional standards, but Solent Cliffs managed to easily exceed my expectations.


Despite the guidance comment above, I would like to particularly highlight the contributions made by some of the staff for their contributions towards making my father's last days as comfortable and as pleasant as they could be. Although I knew that my father was dying they made it as painless for me as they did for him. Well done and thank you.

My mum always said that she didn't want to end up in a nursing home but unfortunately we didn't have a choice.
From the initial show round, we realised that there was a lovely, friendly environment which continued for the duration of mum's stay and she settled in straight away.
We are so glad we decided
to move her when we did and to this home.
The staff all seemed to go the extra mile, for example, one of the kitchen staff told me she had sat with my mum for a while one evening. There are too many other examples of the personal touches to mention in this review.
The staff helped to reduce the stress of the final days, always keeping us up to date with any developments, and working towards our wishes.

Mum moved inot Solent Cliffs from QA in October 2017 as her needs had changed. We were advised by QA that she was on end of life care and had approx 2 to 4 weeks left to live. She actually ended up living there for 3 months and passed away on the 11th Jan. The care she received was excellent from the
day she arrived until the day she died we could not have asked for better.


All the staff including the care staff, nurses, cleaners, laundry staff and the ladies bringing round the drinks were very kind and caring. They kept us fully aware and up to date of Mums condition at all times and always made time to speak to us however busy they were. As well as this, they fully recognised the stress and upset we were under due to Mums decline and were always very kind to us making sure we were ok too. A member of their team attended Mums funeral which was very kind too.

The staff in this home are exceptional the kindness and patience they show is genuine.
The home smells pleasant and it is clean.
The building is quite large and a little confusing at first. Limited space in rooms and corridors.

My mum went to Solent Cliffs as end of life. The manager and her staff were so caring as my mum would not settle as she wanted to be at home but the level of care she needed the home option was out of the equation. All nursing staff won my mum round and her 3 weeks there before she passed away we could
not have wanted a better home for her.

The staff at Queensmead, are so so caring and attentive to all their clients and families. Nothing is too much for them, I don't have to worry about my fathers well-being, which helps to enjoy being there with him. The food is excellent, in that they have a varied choice and good portions. Also it's
very clean, it feels like home from home in some ways. Excellent!

I began my career in care at the age of 18 at Solent Cliffs Nursing Home, where my passion for nursing first took root. I went on to train as a nurse at London South Bank University; once qualified, I gained valuable experience as a stroke nurse at King’s College Hospital. After two years in the fast-paced environment of a London hospital, I returned to the South and joined the cardiac intensive care team at Southampton University Hospital. I later returned to Solent Cliffs as a registered general nurse before stepping into my first managerial role at another nursing home, where I earned my NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management. Following this, I worked at Beechwood, another Beneva home, where I progressed from RGN to clinical lead and eventually deputy manager. When the opportunity arose to return to Solent Cliffs as manager, I felt a strong calling to come back to the place where my journey began. I am deeply passionate about delivering person-centred care, fostering a positive workplace culture, and ensuring all residents—regardless of age—can live with dignity and comfort. I also enjoy mentoring staff and promoting growth within the team. The home at Solent Cliffs benefits from a wide variety of experience and a rich, multicultural background, something I value deeply, as it brings diverse perspectives and strengthens the care they provide.
