The Maypole Care Home provides nursing and residential care. Their highly skilled nurses, carers and ancillary staff create a welcoming and homely environment, promoting independence and quality of life.

The home is purpose-built with spacious and comfortable lounges, enabling residents to relax and spend time with family and friends. Every bedroom has en suite facilities, a television, telephone point and Wi-Fi, while some offer views of the gardens. Residents are encouraged to accessorise their rooms to their own personal tastes.

Tasty and nutritious meals are created every day by the in-house chef who really gets to know and understand the residents’ preference and specific dietary requirements. In the evenings and overnight, snacks and refreshments are available from a Night Bites menu.

A varied programme of activities and events ensures that residents remain active and stimulated. Residents are also encouraged and supported to develop and maintain interests and social networks in the local community.

Overall we have been pleased with the care home but we have had to monitor and chase up some care that was needed. Mum came here to be helped to get mobile but we have had to request this on a daily basis.
Evening handover time is a problem as not enough staff on duty.
Difficulty to get into the
home in the evenings.

After a 10 week stay in hospital I had the opportunity of respite in Maypole Care Home. Within 3 days I made my mind up to make my stay permanent. For the first time in months I felt safe, care was available whenever I needed it day or night instead of waiting for my external helpers to arrive.

My experience with Maypole has been positive. The staff are attentive, compassionate and always take time to ensure resident (my father) are comfortable and cared for. My dad has vascular dementia and he's losing the ability to communicate. So it really depends on the care that Maypole provides. I always
find my dad is fresh and clean, context and he seems to setting down here in Maypole well. The only downside is that the relative gateway stopped available to family since Nov 2024 so we cannot look at care note while I'm away from my dad. I used to look at the carer's note everyday, so I know what my dad has been done everyday.

From my first day here every member of staff has been kind and thoughtful. The food is good quality and tasty too. I haven't tried all the activities yet but the one's I have taken part in I have found interesting. I enjoy the quizzes.

My mother-in-law was a resident for 7 weeks at Maypole before she passed away in May 2025. The Nursing staff and carers were lovely however the financial team there are horrendous. We put a couple of hundred pounds in cash for any personal use for personal bits etc, hairdressers, papers, outings etc.
Since she passed away 4 1/2 weeks ago I have made 19 phone calls, 7 emails and still not had the personal allowance refund of £160 as I was promised. Every excuse given.... The administrator has left, they need 2 signatures and now they have a new home manager. I'm still waiting for the refund!!!!!!
Disgusting way to be treat family Bupa especially when you have lost a loved one ......

I have just spent seven good days in respite care at Maypole Care Home, where my son is also a resident. Staff/ residents relationships are excellent - always a greeting by name, cheery would of encouragement and a willingness to help. A series of activities was sociable and creative, musical and memory
testing ways. A choice of good food was always available.

All the staff are very caring and bring a happy energy to their clients . I really appreciate the fact that they are respectful around my brothers needs .When I am not able to visit him one of the carers takes a phone to him( because he is blind ) and this gives us a chance to catch up . He recently
had a birthday and the staff all made it a special day -with a cake from the chef . These touches of kindness and consideration mean so much to him and me .Thanks to all the staff who look after him!

I would give the care home 40%. Carers are not very helpful. Take forever to answer the buzzer. I've had to change bedding as staff have been asked but they say will come back but don't. I've seen them walk by when the buzzer is going. I have had a chat with the manager but nothing has changed.

The staff member was very warm and welcoming. He went to great lengths to make me comfortable. The room requires an update as does the bathroom. The shower is good but needs a seat in it. The carers are all excellent.

My mother has enjoyed her respite stay at Maypole Care Home, despite the language barrier. All staff were very kind and helpful, lovely. The food was delicious! The activities were very good, even if the language barrier was a problem. Very good facilities too. Lovely and spacious room.

The staff are kind and caring, although under extra pressure due to staff shortages. I feel a more personal level of care would easily be achieved if there were more staff to take the pressure off.
However, they all work incredibly hard and always try their best. The home is lean and tidy, but a little
run down and outdated. Although, it's clear to see improvements happening all the time.

Your staff are not fast enough to answer the buzz, I would be waiting for a long time.
The kitchen staff are never on time. I am always telling I need to eat before 1pm as I am diabetic, so I thought I would get my meals first, but I am always last.
Someone needs to sort things out.

My sister-in-law has been well cared for in the home and has settled in well. Our family wish to thank the staff for their prompt action in getting an ambulance to take my sister-in-law to hospital when she had a stroke. This undoubtedly saved her life and she has now recovered and is back in the home.

A particular member of staff was marvellous. Everyone else at Maypole was polite & friendly but they do have a problem answering the phone - it just rings and rings with no one answering. The room was tired and in need of a refurb.
