The Maypole Care Home provides nursing and residential care. Their highly skilled nurses, carers and ancillary staff create a welcoming and homely environment, promoting independence and quality of life.

The home is purpose-built with spacious and comfortable lounges, enabling residents to relax and spend time with family and friends. Every bedroom has en suite facilities, a television, telephone point and Wi-Fi, while some offer views of the gardens. Residents are encouraged to accessorise their rooms to their own personal tastes.

Tasty and nutritious meals are created every day by the in-house chef who really gets to know and understand the residents’ preference and specific dietary requirements. In the evenings and overnight, snacks and refreshments are available from a Night Bites menu.

A varied programme of activities and events ensures that residents remain active and stimulated. Residents are also encouraged and supported to develop and maintain interests and social networks in the local community.

For over four years my mother stayed. I found the Maypole a relaxed, happy place for the residents.
Each time I arrived, I was greeted by a member of staff who provided everything I needed.
Nearer to the time when my mother was getting worse, the staff rang me to advise the current situation with
warmth and compassion.
I would recommend the Maypole to others. Having a member of staff on the reception desk at the weekends is a good idea.

Starting from the top, the Maypole has an excellent hands-on manager. The obvious improvement in staff morale in recent weeks is at least partly due to her.
My daughter who is doubly incontinent is superbly cared for. There is a happy family atmosphere.
Some residents have pets, such as goldfish.
There is an extremely good activity programme and a successful fundraising team organised by residents families.

I have been impressed with the attitude of all staff, even in quite difficult situations. The care and attention I have witnessed has been exemplary. They have bent over backwards to accommodate my mother's 'demands' and to be supportive and caring to her family. How they maintain their patience and

I feel that when I visit my friend at Maypole, she is amongst friendly staff and indeed I feel she is among friends and is very well cared for. I do not wish to end up in care but if I had to, this would be my first choice. God bless.

I have been visiting my sister in the Maypole Care Home for about 6 years. Although general standards have been high, some care and nursing staff in the past have let the care home down. This has changed since the new manager has taken charge. The staff morale has increased and the little things have
improved. I am secure in the thought that my sister is well looked after 24 hours a day and the new manager is a credit to Bupa.

Having looked long and hard to find the nicest "home" for my friend, I checked website reviews and felt the Maypole seemed the best I could find although certainly not the cheapest. On arriving my friend had the usual "settling in" troubles - which I spoke to the manager about. She assured me "it will
all be alright", and she was right. My friend has settled very well and is happy. She loved the care ladies and lads, they help her to choose which necklace to wear today - which really means a lot. We have been totally supported by everyone and every request and query met to complete satisfaction. I cannot praise the manager and staff enough.

As usual, all staff are polite, caring and spend time listening. There is always a warm, smiling welcome. Dad has joined in a lot of activities and helped where necessary. Dad has difficulty with his speech and staff go the extra mile to listen and understand. A couple of evenings ago he had a slight
problem with his catheter and in a bit of pain. One of the carers stayed on a while with him past their normal leaving time whilst the nurse adjusted the catheter. This is one of many ways that show they're caring. An excellent home from home.

All my needs are met. All staff are cheerful and courteous. My room is comfortable with a garden view and is always well heated. My meals are always served hot and plenty of it. Sadly my appetite is very small, but the staff always make sure I have something they know I will eat and enjoy. I do not
join in the activities as I prefer my own company. They always invite me but accept my refusal.

99% of the time all the family requests are met. All staff are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Housekeeping of individual rooms could be more thorough. Common areas such as reception, dining and lounge kept well.

Dad was resident at Maypole Care Home December 2014 to his death 18/10/2016
The family would especially like to express their gratitude at the excellent end of life care he received and the understanding and care extended to the family during the last 10 days of his life
ALL staff from manager to
the registered nurses, the care assistants, the kitchen/catering staff to general maintenance staff/cleaners treated dad and ourselves with courtesy, love and support. They provided dad with individualised loving care, respect and dignity, acknowledging his uniqueness and personality


We were kept updated, GP attendance was promptly actioned as required with prompt response
Other residents were able to visit him as they wished


Having worked for the NHS, I am only too aware of the difficulties of providing personal care at the end of life- The Maypole proved that the essential devotion necessary for such care is possible within a residential home environment.
