Always reassuring me and my family that Nan is in good hands, very polite and professional. We appreciate how the team are helping Nan and making her feel safe. What a great team of carers.
Hello and thank you for taking the time to leave the staff at Maypole Care Home such a lovely review. We are thrilled that you have been reassured Nan is in good hands. It is wonderful to hear words such as "polite", "professional" and "great" being used to describe our staff. We hope that your Nan continues to enjoy her time with us!
The kitchen staff are never on time. I am always telling I need to eat before 1pm as I am diabetic, so I thought I would get my meals first, but I am always last.
Someone needs to sort things out.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We have a genuine regard for all of our residents. We will discuss your feedback with the home's manager to help them continually improve their service alongside actions that they have already started implementing. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
My sister-in-law has been well cared for in the home and has settled in well. Our family wish to thank the staff for their prompt action in getting an ambulance to take my sister-in-law to hospital when she had a stroke. This undoubtedly saved her life and she has now recovered and is back in the home.
Thank you for your kind words. It is always nice to hear from family members feeling like their loved one is cared for and looked after. We are glad to help you and your family through such a difficult time. We hope to continue providing your sister-in-law with the best possible care and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
A wonderful place to spend time in, a lovely environment. She would dearly love to stay, she's very well taken of, comfortable and settled after a traumatic three-week visit to hospital, a very undignified 3 weeks.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your kind review. We hope Maypole care home did everything possible to make the transition as easy as possible for her. It is always nice to hear from family members feeling like their loved one is cared for and looked after. Thank you for choosing Maypole for her stay.
A particular member of staff was marvellous. Everyone else at Maypole was polite & friendly but they do have a problem answering the phone - it just rings and rings with no one answering. The room was tired and in need of a refurb.

Mum spent her last couple of months at the Maypole Care Home, and from the moment she arrived, she was made to feel very welcome, safe and cared for. Every member of staff was very polite, professional and attentive. Mum really enjoyed her time here, and it made her final few weeks a calm and peaceful time for her and the whole family. Mum was treated with respect and dignity right to the end, and this made the whole experience so much more bearable. Thank you!
Thank you for taking the time to leave your kind review. We send our condolences for your loss. We hope Maypole Care Home did everything possible to make the transition as easy as possible for your mum and your family, and we are very happy to hear you felt at ease with her in our care. We are glad...
My friend has been at the home for about 18 months and each time I visit I am always happy to see the excellent level of care which he receives. The staff are polite, helpful and extremely welcoming. A super home.
Thank you for your lovely review. It is always nice to hear words like “polite” and “helpful” being used to describe our care. We are so pleased that you are impressed with the level of care that your friend receives at Maypole Care Home. We hope to continue providing your loved one with the best possible care.
First impressions exceeded expectations. All my meetings/chats with staff have been informative, helpful and valued. Myself and my siblings are extremely happy with every aspect of the care home. Dad is happy and settled and the move has been made easy. Thank you.
My mum was a resident at Maypole Care Home for over eight years. She was extremely happy there and received excellent care from the staff. Everyone was considerate and understanding of Mum's needs. The end-of-life care was amazing too. Mum was taken care of by several staff who were compassionate and caring at all times. The staff are exceptional and work so well as a team, my family were extremely pleased with Mum's care. Thank you so much.
Visited for the first time last week and I can honestly say I was surprised at the lack of infection control. No sanitiser, no masks available, and no check on whether we had done a negative covid test or had any known bugs. As soon as I walked through the doors I was hit by a very unpleasant smell, the source of which was obvious. All room doors were open fully giving absolutely no privacy for anyone in there, several of which were "compromised". The room I was visiting was shabby at best but reasonably clean but I was surprised to see a dirty fabric chair with no others for visitors. It was very apparent very quickly that the "care" was poor at best and not what I was expecting. Not at all happy with the standards and can't understand how palliative care can be offered with no resident Doctors, no pharmacy, and no ability to administer IV meds or nutrition. Baffled and horrified at the experience.
Thank you for your review. We have genuine regard for all of our residents and their health and safety are an absolute priority. We have passed your comments on to the home's management team and they will be in touch to arrange a meeting and discuss any concerns further.
Had my first visit to the Maypole last week. It was clear that the place was understaffed (that's why they leave all the patient's room doors open) and were unable to provide the care required. Call buttons took up to 40mins to be answered. The Doctor only calls twice a week from the local practice. They advertise as offering palliative care with no resident Doctor, how can this be? Left me very worried about my relative's care.

My mum was transferred from the hospital to receive end-of-life care. Her room was clean and in good condition, looking onto the garden. With some of her familiar things around her and room for visitors, her last few weeks with us were made more bearable. The staff were caring and compassionate and made sure Mum's needs were taken care of at all times. All in all, a positive experience of a happy, well-run home.
Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that we were able to provide this environment for you as a family to spend time with your Mum in her final weeks. Hopefully, knowing how well she was cared for is comforting to you now. Thank you again for your review.
Cannot single out one individual as all were exceptional in their professionalism with a smile and kind words! All the staff went out of their way to make me comfortable while I stayed with Mum over her last 48 hours. Nothing was too much trouble! An exceptional workforce who work together in an amazing way! The manager is obviously well thought about and knows how to make a team of people work together, and they also have a mutual respect for her! It was the best place for Mum to be.
Thank you for your kind words. It is so nice to hear you describe the care provided as exceptional. I will certainly pass your feedback on to the whole team. Thank you again for your review.
Although our beloved Mum was only here for a few days, she could not have received a better welcome from the moment she arrived. Everybody came and introduced themselves; the chef, the laundry lady and the activities. The care given was dignified and gentle. Not only did everybody care for Mum, but they were very supportive at the most difficult time in our lives. Many thanks.
We really appreciate you taking the time to leave us your kind review. We are so sorry for your loss, hopefully, those final days together were made a little easier for you knowing she was well cared for.
Finding my wife happy and well cared for has taken a lot of worries away from me. All the staff are friendly and take time to talk to both of us and the management staff have gone the extra mile to accommodate any requests we have made. We are as happy as we can be in the circumstances. Thank you very much to all of you.
Thank you for your kind review. We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your wife in our care. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to make your loved one's stay as comfortable as possible.
I enjoy my time here, the care staff are really caring and look after my needs, they make time to check in on me and meet me needs. I have been here for three years and I am happy here. The nurses sometimes don't spend enough time with me while I take my tablets.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease in our care. We will discuss your feedback with the homes manager to help them continually improve their service. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
We have been pleased with the care your staff have given our daughter while she was in Maypole Care Home.
Thank you for your feedback. Thank you for choosing Maypole.
Lovely clean and caring home. My father has dementia, but still spent his 100th Birthday in comfort and was, to his delight, the centre of attention.
Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear your father enjoyed his 100th Birthday and being centre of attention at Maypole.
Individual staff were caring and very motivating to Mum following her trauma and were empathetic. The level of encouragement from all staff domestics, catering, admin and care staff was excellent.
In the initial months when she was not allowed to mobilise on her broken leg, Mum found the delay in answering call bells to attend to her personal needs distressing; when the staff came, they were caring and attentive and gave excellent care.
There was great communication with the home's GP practice and good access to review and support when required.
The home was very flexible and accomodating in allowing therapy and rehab visits and answered emails to arrange these promptly and efficiently.
Mum is grateful for all the support she received at Maypole during her stay and how it helped her on her journey to recovery.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are happy to have been able to help in your mum's recovery after her accident. Thank you again for your feedback.
We removed my mother from the home last night amid serious safeguarding concerns. My mother was placed in the home for a short period of time to assess her care needs, she had been neglected. The home is run around policy and procedure but fails to treat its residents with respect, dignity, and care. The management of the home is weak, complaints fall on deaf ears and as a family for my mum's own safety, we removed her. Someone from Bupa needs to address this home's failings as I feel sure not every resident there has the ability to communicate the dreadful care given. I would be happy to discuss our experience further if Bupa would like to contact me as no one in the home is willing to take responsibility.
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your concerns but we understand that this is something our Quality team have been in touch with you about directly and will be investigating further. Thank you again for getting in touch.
