Overall Experience
I am a close friend and, once, long time neighbour to one gentleman currently resident at South Haven. He sadly suffers from Parkinson's.
However, since his admittance to this wonderful care home I have noticed his smile and a little wicked sense of humour return.
There was a time and I admit, I'd struggle with foreboding to visit any care home. But this one. This one has dispelled any fears I had.
It seems obvious to me then that these, extremely, hard working staff are certainly doing a great job. Therein I struggle to imagine most people in life giving such dedication and commitment as do these warm and generous carer's show. We so depend on them for their ceaseless efforts when we can return to the comfort of our world behind the closed door.

The Home Manager, together with all the team at South Haven show such sterling determination in their labours. And through all this they will always greet you with such a warm and sincere smile. Well done to you all and thank you.

My partners’ mother joined South Haven Lodge earlier this year after a long spell in hospital. Having had many falls, numerous infections and dementia, she has settled really well, with staff skilfully and diligently managing her needs. Management and staff have expertly put aids and care in place so that her dignity and safety are respected and staff treat her with kindness and affection.

We are relieved that many of our worries have been lessoned so that we are confident that this is the right place for her to feel as happy as we can expect in the circumstances, thanks to Mawuli and the staff at South Haven Lodge.

Mum moved to South Haven in June 2019. She settled in within 2 weeks. It's the happiest I saw Mum since her diagnosis of vascular dementia. On Thursday 22nd August Mum fell and broke her femur. She was taken into hospital where she sadly passed on 26/08/19. The staff at the home were exemplary. They looked after Mum so well and made her last few months the best ever. Highly recommend, amazing manager, nurses, carers and staff. I would nev3r hesitate in recommending this wonderful home, and sadly Mum did not have long here, but best ever last few months.

My Mother was there for 2 months, confused and anxious when she arrived, soon felt comfortable with plenty of staff keeping her company, she loved to talk and although Alzheimer's had taken her independence and her mobility, she was aware and still remembered us to the end. She knew she was in a safe place and was ready to pass away knowing she was not alone. South Haven Lodge should change their name to 'SAFE HAVEN LODGE'

I have had 3 sisters in different homes, some I was not very pleased with. Since my sister has been in South Haven Lodge I can say everything is excellent. As I have said before, I feel that I can truthfully say how good this home is.

My mother had been in another care home for 3 years and was left in bed all day and very little interaction with staff or other residents.
Since moving her to South Haven Lodge, she now gets up most days talks to people and staff and is now much more like my mother used to be.

I cannot thank the staff at South Haven Lodge enough they are brilliant.

I am very pleased to have my lawful wedded wife in here and this gives me peace and I am thankful to your organisation.
The monthly price is painful every time but what doesn't kill me makes me stronger.

Thanks for everything in the future and the support from your manager.

My brother has been in care at South Haven Lodge for approximately two years and he has not been happier or more content in care for many years.
They also quickly attended to any health problems or suspected problems.
They seemed to understand his dementia difficulties and his desire for brain stimulation, physical and mental activities.
With living on the other side of the world it has been so good to have him looked after by kind, caring friendly and professional people.
Whenever I have been in contact I have always had helpful staff to speak to.
When my brother died suddenly this past week they have been like family, both to him and myself.

Thank you to you all.

I feel my grandma is looked after very well in this home, since moving she has had fewer infections resulting in fewer visits from the doctor. This has been helped by the staff ensuring she keeps her fluid intake up and is changed regularly. I love how much entertainment is held at the home.
Most of the staff are very friendly and ensure they make the time to come and say hello to her and spend some time with her.

Unfortunately, sometimes she has been put in the wrong chair and when asked she has been moved back into the correct chair meaning she has been in the stand aid and manoeuvred more than needed. This may have been a miscommunication issue between staff or not being aware of her care plan. This was addressed at the time and seems to have been resolved. A few times the staff are tired from working lots of hours and are rushed off their feet. If the shift rotation was altered, less staff would be tired or call in sick. A couple of very good members of staff have left due to this issue.

The staff at South Haven Lodge are extremely friendly and helpful. This is a good, safe environment for my Uncle to convalesce in. His room is regularly cleaned and I would recommend this home to others. The food quality is good and the staff regularly contact me if need be. the communal areas are very clean and tidy and there are regular activities organised for the residents.

The manager of the home and his seniors are brilliant and understand that all residents are different and so are their needs. They having been very supportive of not only my dad but also us as a family. The home allows residents to make their own choices where they can. We have regular reviews and adjust plans where needed and listen to what we want from a care package. Great staff team and they all care about the residents.

My Husband has been resident at Southaven for over 11 months. Since his arrival, the home has gone from strength to strength allowing for my husband to have his dignity and independence. He was in another home that could "cope" with him so when he first arrived, the manager and his team enabled my husband to be more independent and receive excellent care from a dedicated team. When issues arise the manager and his team are quick to rectify and ensure they all learn from this.

My wife was sectioned into Western Community Hospital for six months where she received first class care. It was decided to transfer her to South Haven Lodge to be looked after. I am so pleased that she came here as she has become calm and more reserved due I am sure to the care she is receiving. My children and I are so glad that a space was found.

I cannot speak highly enough about care and dedication of my sister. She has severe learning difficulties (since birth) and has been in care since 1955 and now finds herself needing nursing care after a long stay in hospital following an operation for kidney removal and abscess. South Haven Lodge is excellent in every way and on behalf of my sister I am pleased to acknowledge them.
