Monread Lodge can provide residential, nursing and dementia care to the elderly, with up to sixty-four en-suite rooms available, all ground-floor accommodation for the ease of those with mobility concerns, and private parking and gardens.

A dedicated dementia unit named Knebworth Court was opened in October 2010 offering 16 appointed en-suite bedrooms. Residents can enjoy a spacious conservatory, choice of comfortable lounges and a dining room. There is also a central courtyard with a ornamental fishpond.

The home has an excellent inspection rating, looks to implement any modern methods and technology that can improve the lives and well-being of residents and follows person-centred care packages tailored to individual needs.

Staff maintain a sensitive attitude towards the concerns of loved ones, work hard to assure that admissions are as stress-free as possible and that new residents are made to feel welcome and at home.

My Dad is very well looked after by all the nursing staff and carers.
The food he is given is very good and on all the times I have been there he has eaten everything and will always say it is very nice.

I have seen Monread Lodge improve considerably over the two years my father has been there. The staff and manager are friendly and caring. The premises are kept clean, with good maintenance. My only reservation is laundry, clothes go missing or Dad has other's clothes. Every effort is made to make sure

I can only say what a great bunch of staff here. Their attention to the individual's needs is outstanding. If I ever have a question that needs answering, its never too much trouble. I'm kept informed of any changes that have happened/need to happen. The care and food are very good.

The staff are very good, kind, compassionate, professional and understanding.
The bedroom is a little tired and the ensuite bathroom.
I understand these are due to an overhaul soon.
Mum can't participate in the activities so I can't comment on that.
I like watching the wildlife through her window.

like that the home is quiet and serene.

I visit once or twice a week. The environment seems good though the staff are noisy in the corridor sometimes! Some staff are extremely pleasant and helpful, others vary. My friend is confused so cannot help with this survey. I cannot comment on value for money as I don't know the cost. Overall, it

My Dad came to Monread two months ago.
He is very poorly with Parkinsons and Dementia.
While being here he has been given the utmost care and respect from the lovely carers, management and housekeeping team!
He doesn't get much pleasure in life, so to know he is being looked after means so much to

Monread Lodge Nursing & Residential Home is a wonderful superb home for my cherished Aunt, it is more like a hotel.


The carers are always very kind, friendly and have the time and are not rushed off their feet, unlike other care homes I have experienced. I am very impressed with all the activities

they always have regularly at Monread Lodge Nursing & Residential Home, quizzes, art days, regular live singers. The activity ladies are God sends and a joy and such assets to the care home who make my Aunt's stay at Monread Lodge Nursing & Residential Home most enjoyable in providing the best care to them.

My husband went in quite poorly and came out after 5 weeks able to walk a bit with a frame.

The care and help that is provided to my mother has changed over time but the consistency of the quality of care that both she and the family have received has been consistent and of high quality. All staff on every level have gone that extra step beyond the call of duty to make the happy and the difficult
times that we experience much more bearable. I think we do not appreciate the good staff that are at Monread Lodge enough in what is a very demanding and not always pleasant job. Grateful thanks to them all.

My relative was only at Monread for a few days but the staff and management were extremely helpful and kind during their final days and we feel he died with dignity supported by care and nursing staff who really looked after him. Thank you.
