I was at the Elms from January 26th to March 16th, 2018. All the staff were excellent, very helpful and encouraging. The food was very good, a lot of choice. Thank you for your kindness.

We moved our elderly relative to The Elms as she was failing to thrive in another nursing home. Her admission to The Elms resulted in an immediate change. She started eating again and smiling - she became happy again and this remained the case for the years that she lived there. The relative was an Oxford blue, very intelligent and determined and she was not easy to persuade. The staff at The Elms were outstanding with her. Thank you so very much for caring for her so well and making her happy and laughing again.

We had heard for years what a great place The Elms is. Your reputation is well deserved. I would add that I managed a care at home business for many years, so I know the issues involved, so I know what is involved in meeting the high standards of The Elms. Well done.

Feels like "home from home". Staff are very friendly, helpful and caring and professional. Mum always looks clean and well cared for. She seems very happy but due to her dementia does not interact very much.

Overall Experience

My Mother lived in the Elms Cottages for 13 years and spent the last three years of her life in The Elms Nursing Home. She refused to live with any of the family as she said The Elms was her home. She liked all the Staff and never complained about any of them. I am a retired nurse and I could not fault the high quality of care given to my Mum. This excellent care comes from the top. So my thanks go to the directors and the Matron who have set a high standard of care. The care given by all the trained nurses and carers was second to none. Not forgetting the administrator and her lovely team in the office, cleaning staff. Kitchen staff and laundry workers. They all played a role in making my mother's life happy.

I joined Hartford Care at the Elms in June 2024 as Deputy Manager and have since taken on the role of Home Manager.

The moment I walked through the door, I was warmly welcomed by the staff, the residents and their loved ones.

I have received nothing but support and encouragement in my new role, and I feel privileged to come to work in such a lovely, friendly family atmosphere. It really is a special place to work.

I have worked within the care sector for over ten years and have enjoyed every stage of my journey. I began as a Care Assistant and worked my way up the industry ladder. Over time, I’ve discovered that I’m most passionate about working in residential care homes, supporting residents in the final years of their lives. It’s incredibly rewarding to ensure they are safe, living life to the fullest, and able to maintain their independence as much as possible.

I truly enjoy my role at The Elms as the Deputy Manager. We have a very supportive team — like one big family — all dedicated to ensuring our residents’ lives are filled with love, comfort, joy and smiles on all their faces every day. We have great plans for our residents' home, and it’s been great seeing them come into place.
