Being a large corporation Barchester are only interested in money. Barchester sold out for £5.2 billion pounds to s US company October 2025. Barchester has 230 homes plus 21 other interests. So Vecta House sold for an average £20 million pounds. Barchester was able to sell for this vast sum due to lovely, hard-working staff who should have received a huge bonus. Considering the cost cutting and penny pinching when we were being charged £2000 per week it was galling. ALL the staff were wonderful.

Dad has only been in this lovely home for a short time but is already settling well. The manager Nicky and all staff seem so caring , understanding and keen to learn all they can about dad. We as a family will always be so grateful he has been given a chance of life again after an horrendous few months. He has a lovely room, taking into account his need for a quieter area.He is being encouraged to be as mobile as he can. He is now looking clean and smartly dressed, being encouraged to eat in the dining room with others, which he seems to enjoy and being offered stimulation and activities he enjoys. We are looking forward to enjoying the garden with him once the weather improves as this is one of dads loves.

I have been visiting Vecta House for over 2 years now and wanted to write this review as Vecta House and it's staff are superb. It is always very clean, the food is excellent and more importantly the staff there are all absolutely brilliant, in every aspect. I visit quite a few homes on the Island and this one is the best by far.

We visit a resident who has had a stroke and is bedbound. Each time we visit we have found the staff really friendly and pleasant. The resident's room is really good - he is very comfortably looked after. Thank you. The family of the resident are equally appreciative of what you are doing for the resident. Thank you - it is an amazing place.

Mum went in for a convalescence period to regain some of her strength and confidence following a prolonged period in hospital, she came out from Vecta far stronger and healthier than she went in, having been extremely well looked after.
We were less aware that Vecta predominantly deals with dementia and therefore much of the camaraderie that mum was hoping for mainly came from the staff - but that was our fault, Vecta were open about what they did and hid nothing on our tour.
Mum (and dad, who was in to see her most days) really appreciated the loving attention that she received. Dad, a wheelchair user when visiting, was well accommodated and fully included at mealtimes and invited to any activities that were going on.

Staff were both respectful and fully attentive and any problems were quickly dealt with they are clearly there to do all they can to help. Thank you all

I cannot rate this care home highly enough. My nan wasn't at the care home long before she passed away as she was very poorly. The care, compassion and kindness shown to her was incredible, as family we felt like she was in the best place. The staff became friends to us also and we felt like they really cared about us as well as nan. Nan was well looked after and her individual needs were met and they really cared for her as a person. I would recommend Barchester Vecta House Care Home and all the lovely staff to anyone looking for a care home for their relative. My review doesn't include the activities as nan was bed ridden when she was at the home.

I can honestly say this home is beyond wonderful! The staff are truly amazing - not only do they do their jobs brilliantly but they actively look to anticipate the residents' needs. If there is a "fall" or problem, they inform you immediately which is very comforting. I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that my mother is well cared for 24 hours a day.

I have worked in the care sector since 2008. I started my Health and Social career as an apprentice; I then progressed to a Senior Carer, which led me into my Deputy Manager role in 2015. From this, I first became a Registered Manager in 2016.

I joined Barchester Healthcare in June 2026 as the General Manager at Vecta House.

Chris SelwayJob Title:Head ChefJoined: 2018

Hello, my name is Chris, and I have been working at Vecta since June 2018.

Before joining Vecta, I spent 10 years as the Head Chef at another care home, working closely with people living with dementia.

It is an age-old saying that ‘home is where the heart is', and to me, the heart of all homes should be the kitchen. The pattern of our life revolves around food and drink; it sustains, nurtures and brings us together as family, and friends. It marks times of celebration and significant events, reminding us of what is important in our life.

I enjoy spending time with residents and learning about their individual likes, dislikes and needs. This is their home and I try to create menus that respect this and involve them in this process as much as possible by recreating meals that they have come to love and food that they cherish.

Quality ingredients and presentation are essential; if something is to have value it should look good and reflect the care that has gone into its making.
