My mother has been at Vecta House Care Home for two very happy years. The staff treat my mum with dignity & respect. They are truly caring. The planned activities are full of fun & laughter. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Vecta House to anyone considering a move for a loved one. From the manager,
receptionist, nurses, cleaners & chef, they are all truly professional.

I have been visiting Vecta House for over 2 years now and wanted to write this review as Vecta House and it's staff are superb. It is always very clean, the food is excellent and more importantly the staff there are all absolutely brilliant, in every aspect. I visit quite a few homes on the Island and
this one is the best by far.

We visit a resident who has had a stroke and is bedbound. Each time we visit we have found the staff really friendly and pleasant. The resident's room is really good - he is very comfortably looked after. Thank you. The family of the resident are equally appreciative of what you are doing for the resident.
Thank you - it is an amazing place.

Mum went in for a convalescence period to regain some of her strength and confidence following a prolonged period in hospital, she came out from Vecta far stronger and healthier than she went in, having been extremely well looked after.
We were less aware that Vecta predominantly deals with dementia
and therefore much of the camaraderie that mum was hoping for mainly came from the staff - but that was our fault, Vecta were open about what they did and hid nothing on our tour.
Mum (and dad, who was in to see her most days) really appreciated the loving attention that she received. Dad, a wheelchair user when visiting, was well accommodated and fully included at mealtimes and invited to any activities that were going on.
Staff were both respectful and fully attentive and any problems were quickly dealt with they are clearly there to do all they can to help. Thank you all

All care homes should be like Vecta House. All staff, including the manager and office are friendly, helpful, efficient and most importantly extremely caring. Thank you! My rating of very poor box under value for money is because I am paying £2000 per week, for someone who is probably hardly any trouble
and I care for him too, and it is more likely that other, more demanding residents are being funded - maybe - probably - at a third of what I am paying.

I cannot rate this care home highly enough. My nan wasn't at the care home long before she passed away as she was very poorly. The care, compassion and kindness shown to her was incredible, as family we felt like she was in the best place. The staff became friends to us also and we felt like they really
cared about us as well as nan. Nan was well looked after and her individual needs were met and they really cared for her as a person. I would recommend Barchester Vecta House Care Home and all the lovely staff to anyone looking for a care home for their relative. My review doesn't include the activities as nan was bed ridden when she was at the home.

I can honestly say this home is beyond wonderful! The staff are truly amazing - not only do they do their jobs brilliantly but they actively look to anticipate the residents' needs. If there is a "fall" or problem, they inform you immediately which is very comforting. I know, without a shadow of a doubt,
that my mother is well cared for 24 hours a day.

I am completely convinced that every person who works here has to sit a ‘loveliness’ exam as part of the recruitment process! From the manager to the chefs to the nurses to the reception staff - everybody here is just so caring and welcoming. I desperately wish my mum didn’t have dementia, but she does
and that being the case, I don’t believe she could get better care. It’s not the building - the bedrooms, lounges or dining rooms that make this place - even though they’re very nice; it’s the ethos and genuine care shown by everyone working there that makes this such an amazing place.
I live in Scotland and am much comforted by knowing my lovely mum is receiving such wonderful care. Thank you all so much.

The staff are all so caring. Everybody has made Mum feel welcome and at home.
Nothing is too much trouble and if Mum asks for anything, the staff will always accommodate her straight away. The food is excellent and a wide selection of choices. Coffee and cake are readily available. Entertainment is
excellent, Mum is very happy here, this makes the process easier to cope with for the family.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.821)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.821) out of 10 for Barchester Vecta House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.896 for Barchester Vecta House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (185 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 202 Ratings = 4.896
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Vecta House Care Home is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 registered maximum number of service users is 10.8, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Hello, my name is Chris, and I have been working at Vecta since June 2018.

Before joining Vecta, I spent 10 years as the Head Chef at another care home, working closely with people living with dementia.

It is an age-old saying that ‘home is where the heart is', and to me, the heart of all homes should be the kitchen. The pattern of our life revolves around food and drink; it sustains, nurtures and brings us together as family, and friends. It marks times of celebration and significant events, reminding us of what is important in our life.
I enjoy spending time with residents and learning about their individual likes, dislikes and needs. This is their home and I try to create menus that respect this and involve them in this process as much as possible by recreating meals that they have come to love and food that they cherish.

Quality ingredients and presentation are essential; if something is to have value it should look good and reflect the care that has gone into its making.
