As a family, we are very very happy with the care and attention that our father is receiving.
The staff are always welcoming. They allowed us to give him a piece of garden outside his bedroom window which we planted up with colourful flowers. Everyone who used the garden could enjoy the flowers.
We
like the hospitality where we can make tea/coffee and share it with Dad in the reception.
No complaints.

From day one was made to feel very welcome and has been the same every time I visit. It's very homely, clean and well looked after.
I leave there knowing my other half is being well looked after, and is happy to stay. I find it is well run, plenty of staff on hand, if you need to ask a question or

Very good home managed and run by excellent staff. Everyone knows our next of kin (resident) and always greets her by her first name, even those staff not directly engaged in her wing. Special praise needs to go to the activities coordinator who provides almost a daily programme of activities tailored
to the individual. The only negative is the cost which has increased significantly for every resident making it the most expensive care home locally. Overall we are very satisfied with the standard of care our next of kin is receiving but Barchester need to review their charges and reduce dividends to shareholders.

This is a lovely, spacy, airy nursing home. The staff are exceptional. The residents are so well treated. Each person called me by name and made to feel happy and content. The staff are so kind to relatives of residents, and we are made to be welcome at all times.

My dad moved to Vecta House recently. The staff could not have made us feel more welcome. Everyone stopped, had a chat, and introduced themselves; all staff are happy to help, with a lovely smile. The fact that Mum can have lunch with Dad is lovely. At his last home, we couldn't even have a cuppa with
him. The environment is spotless, comfortable and spacious. The atmosphere is calm, cheerful and likes belonging to a family. Well done all!

The setting for Vectra House is quiet and peaceful and the car parking is excellent. Inside the decor is attractive and well planned. The doors to the resident's room are open except for privacy and this gives a feeling of inclusion in the community, especially for the bed-bound. There is an atmosphere
of positivity, peacefulness even when the louder residents are are expressing themselves and an invitation to enjoy life. The staff are extremely professional, caring and nurturing, willing and kind and there is a feeling of cohesion. End of life care is beautiful.

Staff have been completely alert and proactive to the care needs of my relative. They contacted us as soon as they had concerns his health was seriously deteriorating. He was expected not to live, and they facilitated frequent visits with us, his next of kin, in very difficult circumstances. As a result,
my relative has really improved and is getting better day by day; his life has been extended.

My wife and I have been visiting her aunty for about twelve months. Every time we have been welcomed. We can see the care is on the highest standard and aunty seems really happy and comfortable. The staff obviously go the extra mile for the residents.

My next of kin was admitted to Vecta House on 21 October 2021. I have only been once to deliver clothes etc. and was immediately impressed with the actual premises and the staff I met at the time. I telephone weekly to check on how he is and any staff I have spoken with are amazingly friendly, kind
and understanding of our situation. Apparently he "is a totally different man" from when he first arrived - eating well (putting on weight), walking about and generally joking and communicating well with the staff. All I can say is a huge thank you to everyone at Vecta House who are, so obviously, looking after him so very very well - it is a great relief to me to know he is in the best possible place now.

I am always received in a cheerful, friendly manner by the staff. They appear to be compassionate with my husband and he accepts what is expected of him, his health problems have been addressed and interventions are clearly explained to me. I leave feeling that he is getting the best care. He accepts
my departure without showing any anxiety. The methods being used by the staff seem to be controlling any distress.

We want to make this review because the service provided for my mother/mother-in-law is above and beyond the normal standards! She was transferred to this home from another place where she was neglect, approach with no dignity, and much more! All staff in Vecta House worked so hard to gain her confidence,
to provide that care that made my mother happy! I want to say it here and I did in person that I never so my mother so happy! We know was a hard process for all staff but all they have done a great job! It's not easy to approach and understand a person with dementia, frightened and scare and who can't communicate her needs. But they have done an amazing job, the interaction was built in a positive way and now my mother is a different person. People with dementia can communicate their feeling through body language and words sometimes! All I can say is that my mother is now happy, she have an amazing care approach and everyone in that company value her with dignity. Thank you.

My husband was resident in Vecta House Care home for 2 years. He had Alzheimer's Disease and was, sometimes very aggressive. He had been in another care home, where his aggression was controlled with medication, making him very unsteady on his feet, although he was physically fit and mobile. Within
a fortnight of moving into Vecta House, the staff managed to handle the aggression without medication and he was able to walk independently around the home and lovely gardens. The confinement made necessary by the pandemic and progression of his disease made him bed-bound and in July 2021, he was put on the end of life care. At this time I was able to visit at any time and stay with him as long as I wanted. For 2 weeks I sat by his bedside. The staff were caring and attentive. With the door open, I could hear all that was happening in Chillerton Section and I never heard a cross or grumpy word. With difficult and challenging residents all I heard was fun, laughter, care and compassion.

Vecta House and the manager were highly recommended to me prior to my husband's residency. I now feel confident that I made the right choice. He has been a resident for 5 months now and with limited visits due to Covid, my first impressions have been very positive. My husband has complex issues with
special dietary needs which means he is confined to his room and is bedbound. I have always found the staff/management to act in a professional and caring manner, updating me as and when necessary on my husband's condition. I feel he is safe and in very good hands which alleviates any concerns I may have as to his wellbeing.

Hi, my name is Nicky, I am proud to be the General Manager at Vecta House. I have managed 3 other care homes on the island before moving to Vecta House. I was the Registered Manager at The Briars before joining Vecta, The Briars was rated OUTSTANDING by CQC under my management.
I have worked in the health care profession for 30 years.
Vecta House is a unique dementia specialised home, where we offer person led care and recognise the importance of family involvement and support.

I began my care journey over ten years ago as a healthcare assistant and have always wanted to advocate and do more for people. This led me to complete my registered nurse training for which I achieved an honours.

Hello, my name is Chris, and I have been working at Vecta since June 2018.


Before joining Vecta, I spent 10 years as the Head Chef at another care home, working closely with people living with dementia.


It is an age-old saying that ‘home is where the heart is', and to me, the heart of all homes should be the kitchen. The pattern of our life revolves around food and drink; it sustains, nurtures and brings us together as family, and friends. It marks times of celebration and significant events, reminding us of what is important in our life.
I enjoy spending time with residents and learning about their individual likes, dislikes and needs. This is their home and I try to create menus that respect this and involve them in this process as much as possible by recreating meals that they have come to love and food that they cherish.

I feel proud knowing I have brought smiles and laughter to our residents and love working with the great team we have here at Vecta House.

I started working at Vecta House in 2019 as part of the housekeeping team, in 2022 I moved roles to be part of Vecta's care team. I am a dementia champion for the home. I have made my way up to Head of Maintenance, I am looking forward to having the responsibility of managing the maintenance of the home and decorating.

My previous job was working in the retail industry for over 20 years.

Hi my name is Paula and i have been a dedicated member of the team at Vecta House since 2012. I began my journey as a senior carer, providing compassionate and high quality care to residents for three years. I then recognized my passion for enriching the lives of the residents i then transitioned to the role as Activities Coordinator, where i successfully engaged residents in a variety of stimulating and enjoyable activities for four years.


Driven by commitment to continuously develop professionally i further enhanced my expertise by completing my NVQ in as care practitioner. I am currently pursuing an advance care practitioner qualification, commencing my studies in September.


I am deeply passionate about providing the highest quality of care to residents.
