I would like to say a very big thank you to everyone for all the kindness they showed to my uncle. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer and got admitted in October 2021 till he sadly passed in January 2023 after a long fight with his illness. I feel so grateful knowing that he got the best care and that his needs were met night and day. The support I got from all the staff was second to none and for this, I am so grateful please keep up all your hard work. I have no problem recommending Barty House.

All the carers and nurses I have met at Barty House Nursing Home have been very caring and gentle with my dad. The management has always been approachable and reassuring, going above and beyond to ensure Dad settles in well, with support and reassurance.

I visit every day so have been able to get to know other relatives of residents and everyone seems to agree Barty is a lovely home with staff who have an infectious energy to ensure they are putting the resident's needs first

My brother and I cannot thank Barty House Nursing Home and all the staff enough, for the love and care and kindness that they showed our Mum. She was diagnosed with terminal cancer in February 2022 and went to Barty House Nursing Home in March 2022, her room was in Monckton Ward. Her illness was short as she passed away at Barty House Nursing Home on 26th June 2022 but during that time she had security in the knowledge that at any time of the day or night her needs were met whether it be more medication or just someone to hold her hand when she was frightened. As a family, we were given so much support and guidance by the nurses and carers through each stage of her illness from beginning to end. We will always be grateful that we chose Barty House Nursing Home for our Mum's final days. Thank you so much Barty House Nursing Home.

Thank you so much for your kind words. Even though only at Barty House for a short time, your mum was very much a part of our family and will be much missed. I will pass your comments on to all the staff who helped care for her, I know it will mean a lot to them that you were so pleased with the care that they gave.

The care given to my beloved partner was quite exceptional, always with a smile and a chat but always with gentle professionalism. Nothing deemed too much trouble in the need to give comfort and support. The home itself is welcoming with its relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. The rooms are light, airy, spacious, well-furnished and clean. The garden is a delightful place to sit and recharge mind and body, all while being entertained by the wildlife. Barty House Nursing Home is a home from home, and we owe it so much during the time we were there.

My husband went to Barty House from the hospice, he was as well as he possibly could be at the time but he did not receive the care that was expected. He only had 7+2 parts of a day. In that time he had very little care and felt isolated. His first day he never got a drink after breakfast until 3.15. I did ask at 12.30 if he would be getting a drink. Water jug empty on 3 occasions. Took all 3 blankets away, left 3 windows open all night. Then he was not given some of his medication, leaving him feeling ill. He rang buzzer, no help so he passed out. He had a visitor pop in to see him at 8pm, finding him unconscious rang again for help. It was 8.25 before help came. Then the day before he died he was feeling well and at 4.30 he was sitting up eating an ice cream then at 5.15 he was not answering his phone. We tried 4 times. The home phoned at 8.30 saying he was having a reaction to the morphine. When we got there he was barley conscious but managed to say his very last words. Take me home.

Dear Pauline, having spoken with you in detail beforehand about these issues, I am sorry that you still have concerns. As you know, your husband came to us from the hospice for end-of-life care. Our electronic records show he was regularly attended to, his buzzer answered and his water jugs...

My sister and I spent time choosing the right home for dad and Barty House stood out from the rest. The understanding and acceptance of dad as a person and his likes and dislikes were established early on and taken on board. It took time for him to settle and any difficulties were dealt with quickly and the care he received was very good considering covid restraints and staff absence. He settled well and liked the home, especially the humour and caring attitude of the staff. As his health deteriorated the staff acted in a prompt and professional way to support dad. Having access to his notes was really helpful in order to keep up to date with his progress when covid restrictions were in place. The staff at the home were very supportive to my sister and myself as dad reached the end of his life and dealt with every aspect of his and our care sensitively. Thank you all at Barty House as a senior nurse myself I would highly recommend this home.

My mum moved in at the end of November 2021. Unfortunately, she is mostly bedbound and unable to participate in the majority of the many varied daily activities on offer. However, the staff frequently chat with her and she has a television in her room. They do a great job ensuring she is kept comfortable and pay close attention to her physical health. The staff are very polite and always helpful however due to workloads they sometimes forget to follow up requests but a gentle reminder usually resolves the issue. The food is freshly prepared on-site and of a good standard, mum enjoys most of the selection available and I believe this has significantly helped her recovery. My relatives and I are happy to recommend this home.

My mother has now been at Barty House for 3-months. She has settled in really well and particularly enjoys the activities at the home that are arranged every afternoon.
The food is very good and my mother's appetite has improved.
The Care staff are kind friendly and the care given to my mother is of a good standard.
When visiting Staff are welcoming and make time to update the family. They are especially supportive to my 92-year-old Dad who visits my mother 4-5 times a week.

It is reassuring to our family that she calls Barty House “home” she speaks fondly of the staff and is grateful for all they do for her

My mum is a resident of Barty House, as I live in Spain I find the staff excellent, on a daily basis, they never fail to help my mum be in contact with me via Facetime. Visiting my mum I found all the staff great, nothing was too much trouble, even the activity staff were brilliant entertaining the residents with a varied activity daily, which me and my mum thoroughly enjoyed. Everyone was kind and very caring, I cannot fault this care home or the staff, Many Thanks.

I would highly recommend Barty House. The care my late Mother received was outstanding. All members of staff were so kind and caring towards my Mum. My Dad became a resident at Barty House Nursing Home in late July and sadly passed away in early September.
During that time he was looked after and nursed with care, kindness and respect. He made new friends and spent happy times with other residents on the lovely veranda overlooking the garden. The team at Barty House made us welcome, never treated us as an inconvenience, and did all they could to make daily visits a success.

At the end he was treated with dignity and we were offered every kindness. We could not have asked for more.

My dad moved in at the end of March. The majority of staff are very friendly and go out their way to do anything they can for my dad and for his family. There are lots of activities that residents are encouraged to join in. So far we are very happy with the experienced dad has had. Thank you to all staff for everything you do.

The staff and team, including management, nurses, carers, admin, activities, laundry and catering have all gone out of their way to help dad settle into Barty House Nursing home. It has been a difficult year for him and they have shown nothing but kindness towards him. There is a lovely conservatory for him to sit in if he chooses and activities every afternoon for him to join in. Would recommend.

Significant reduction in quality of care over the last two years. Staff seem unhappy and unmotivated, too reactive in terms of care and support instead of proactive. My father is now bed-bound and covered in pressure sores and additional complications that did not exist before his stay. Currently exploring moving him to a safer environment.

My mum was a resident at Barty House from October 2020 until February 2021. The care she received was amazing; I couldn't have asked for more. The staff at Barty House became like a second family to me and Mum and supported us very well through a very difficult time. Mum was moved from our local hospice to Barty House Nursing Home as she no longer felt safe at home, even with carers. All the staff at Barty House treated her with respect, dignity and compassion. Despite her health declining she developed a new lease of life, enjoyed the social interactions (despite COVID!) and was well cared for. Although visiting was sometimes restricted, myself and my sisters felt comfortable that Mum was safe and happy.
