Mum spent her last month of life at Barty House Nursing Home. It was a very difficult time for us. By the time she arrived at Barty House, she had suffered a head injury in hospital which left her almost completely uncommunicative and in constant and intense pain. The staff were courteous and compassionate. The nursing staff, one in particular, were very patient with us, talking us through how her condition would deteriorate and how they would adapt the care to reflect this. As her needs escalated, the home provided an enhanced level of care, over and above what the local authority had agreed to pay for. Care staff were very respectful of Mum's religious beliefs during her stay, including in the treatment of her body after she passed. The deputy manager made herself available outside working hours and the manager attended Mum's funeral. I can't stress how much we appreciated Barty House's care and attention and how much difference this made to us in the final stages of Mum's life.

My friend, for whom I had lasting power of attorney, passed away in Barty House recently. She was admitted following a severe stroke a year ago. Whilst she experienced a slow and steady decline as a result of her medical condition, the quality of care she received from Barty was excellent.
She was treated as a much loved family member and whilst it is true that she did not want to be in a nursing home, it is also true that she was settled and content there. In spite of her lack of ability to move and to communicate, staff showed the utmost patience and respect for her, always treating her with dignity and how, I suspect, they would want to be treated themselves in similar circumstances,

A well-led home, nothing was too much trouble, adapting diets, bringing activities to her, accommodating and responding to requests - all delivered promptly and appropriately. I have no hesitation in recommending Barty House. For those more able there is a wealth of activities to benefit from and a great chef too!

The staff at Barty House are amazing. The care they have shown to my parent has been exceptional. My parent was extremely lucky to get a placement here. As a resident they are listened to and their needs are met in a compassionate way.

My Grandma is so happy at Barty House. Considering her age, she is doing pretty well and she loves the atmosphere and services at the home. There is always a nice greeting from staff and everyone seems in good spirits. Lovely place to visit and a fantastic home to stay in. Excellent place.

My husband has been a resident at Barty House now for almost 2 years. The care/patience and kindness shown by all the management and staff is exceptional.
The home’s conservatory is a lovely area with a garden view where residents can sit and watch all the wildlife. If you don’t want to join in the many varied activities in the lounge area this is where you can just sit and observe life, rather than staying alone in your room.

Thank you to all the dedicated staff at Barty House for making my husband very happy and settled here.

During a stressful and highly emotional process of trying to find a safe place for my mother, management was an oasis of calm. They supported and helped immensely.

My mum had a terrible stroke in 2020 leaving her unable to barely move, speak or eat (whole left side is paralysed) baring in mind this happened at the beginning of the pandemic so obviously was an awful time. She went straight from hospital and was taken to Barty House in August 2020 and for the first few months, she was in an ‘end of life’ situation and weighed around 25 stone. I’m unfortunately now fully disabled and can’t walk, the wonderful staff at Barty House meet me outside with a wheelchair to take me to see Mum and also take me back to the car again when I leave. I saw Mum a few days ago for her birthday and all the staff, namely one of the staff members couldn’t do enough to help. My mum looks incredible, they really look after her and have managed to bring her weight down to where she should be, she’s smiling a lot, her speech is getting better and she is writing on a wipe board too.

I can’t thank all the staff enough for what they do, hats off to the manager, thank you again

Barty House Nursing Home is a homely, kind and very lovely nursing home. It is managed and run by genuine, skilled, caring and attentive staff. They filled our lovely mum's final weeks with sensitivity, tenderness and kindness. We will be eternally grateful to them for making our dear mum's passing comfortable and compassionate. I don’t think we would have managed so well had it not been for the warmth and kindness that was shown both to Mum and our family at this difficult time.

My father has settled well into life in the care home. He has been encouraged to participate in different activities. He is able to raise concerns at the resident's meeting and by emailing the manager.

Staff are responsive to his needs and keep his family updated.

Constant unanswered call bells throughout. The number of staff gathered in the car park smoking area is often extraordinarily high. Regularly needed to search out staff when he needed the toilet, despite using the buzzer. Shared, dirty commodes are being wheeled from one room to the next.
He found the shared areas overwhelming.
He felt vulnerable. Was not encouraged to eat or drink well, and suffered a number of UTI's, some were only detected after the family requested that he be tested. Regularly being offered tea to drink, when staff were repeatedly told that he liked black coffee or hot chocolate, even when clear notices were put immediately inside his door. Rapidly heading towards being blind, food was put down and he was left to try to feed himself without support.
A hospital transport booking was not made, so he missed a vital eye appointment.
His clothing was often dirty and he was left in bed wearing only incontinence pants and socks on his lower half

Left after hospital admission for dehydration.

My mother was a resident at Barty for more than a year and sadly passed away recently. My father and I were regular visitors. Just a short time before Mum passed, Dad was taken ill very suddenly and ended up in hospital. Mum was taken ill and ended up in hospital too. She was brought back to Barty (her home) to spend her remaining time in comfort, surrounded by the wonderful staff who genuinely cared. Dad wanted to join Mum, and as the hospital felt they could do no more for him, they agreed he could go if Barty would take him, as he was so seriously ill. Well, Barty moved heaven and earth and, along with the hospital, managed to get Dad there within 24 hours. Mum and Dad spent Mum’s last nine days side by side in the same room. Dad is still at Barty, being very well cared for, and is the best he can be under the circumstances. My deepest gratitude goes to the manager and all the staff at Barty for everything they have done for us all and their continuing care of Dad.

This is a good care home and meets the needs of its residents 99% of the time. Areas in which improvements can be made are with client personal hygiene care and staff being more visible and accessible.
Facilities for relatives are limited and would benefit from regular cleaning and replenishment.
The management of the home is good, and the admin staff are always friendly and helpful and very much offer a personal touch of kindness if I've been upset, which meant a lot.
The leisure facilities and activities are well thought out and inclusive to all who wish to participate.
The food options can be rather bland, routine and not very appetising. Portions are small for some, and evening meals are not what clients may be ordinarily used to.

Some tweaking is required, but without a doubt, a nice place, where my relative feels comfortable, cared for and loved. Thank you.

My mother moved into Full auth email sent in July 2023. She settled in really quickly, which was due to the care and attention she received both from management and staff. The staff have been very attentive and supportive. We were really concerned that my mother would find the transition very difficult, but due to the level of care she is receiving she transitioned much better than we expected.

We would highly recommend the home to anyone needing nursing care for a relative.

Barty House Nursing Home offers a very friendly, caring ambience where residents are well catered for. My wife became a resident recently and has settled in well thanks to the caring way in which she has been treated. My mum has been with Barty House Nursing Home for a year now and she receives excellent care. She is extremely frail and is treated with love and most importantly dignity.

Overall pleased with the care and treatment my mother has received.
Staff attentive and caring but in public areas can be quite loud. Was told mother would move rooms after a deep cleaning had taken place.
Mother moved. Piles of fluff and crumbs under the bed. Someone else's property was found in the empty chest of drawers.

Requested numerous times for electrical equipment to be checked as per policy, but still not done.
