The kindness towards my mum by all members of staff was above and beyond my expectations, she was well looked after and treated with great respect. Everything that could be done to help her through a difficult part of her life was done to make sure she was comfortable and happy. I would be happy to stay there if I could book a room now I would.

Our lovely Dad came to Barty House in June from hospital and was intending to get his strength up so that he could visit his wife who he hadn't seen for 9 months in the Dementia Care home opposite. Sadly this never happened, he passed away peacefully four weeks ago. We cannot thank the lovely staff enough for the care, kindness and support shown to Dad and to us. Nothing was too much trouble, all questions were answered, we were encouraged to be with Dad during his last week. It was heartwarming to speak to staff at a time that was very difficult for us and they always had time for us. Dad was cared for with dignity and kindness right until his end, thank you all so very much.

Mum was transferred to Barty House from hospital as she was too unwell to go home. On arriving there, I can't fault the care mum received. The staff were so friendly and the care mum received was excellent. We wish she had more time with them as she was starting to settle and was looking forward to lockdown lifting so we could get in to see her. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be, as mum passed away. But in the short time she was there she was made to feel part of their family and we will be eternally grateful to them for making her last few days happy ones. A massive thank you to you all.

My nan went into hospital the beginning of Dec 19 after becoming very poorly due to cancer. She moved into Barty House on the 19th of Dec 19. We couldn’t have chosen my nan a more friendly, homely, caring nursing home. We were allowed to come the day before she was due to move in so we could make her room feel like her very own home. From the very start, my nan loved every minute that she spent here. She would always praise all the nurses and staff on how caring and amazing each and every one of them were. My nan wasn’t just a patient to them she was a friend and when we couldn’t be there the nurses were like another family to her and always kept us up to date. My nan sadly passed away during the lockdown so it made it so much harder for us but the nursing home dealt with it amazingly and phoned us when my nan had turned for the worst so was able to be with her for her last few moments. Thank you for making our Nans last few memories memorable and happy. Enjoy the coffee machine and gifts!

My mother spent the final four months of her life at Barty House. She had spent 5 years alone after my father passed away. Those four months were great for mum; the care, support and activities made such a difference. She was not lonely, the staff were so kind and lovely. The activities varied, outings were arranged which mum went on about 4 or 5 possibly more. Barty House has an in-house chef providing home-cooked food of a good standard. I cannot fault this care home and would recommend them as a safe and caring establishment.

My mum was transferred here from the hospital for end of life care. From the moment she was wheeled into Barty House via ambulance, it was clear from the way she was received and welcomed - she was important. The dignity, care and respect she was shown throughout her short 17-days was second to none by all the staff, nurses, carers, reception, cleaners etc. The reassurance, support and care offered to the family was also brilliant. Thank you, and God Bless you all.

My mother came to Barty House in October 2019 from hospital as a palliative care patient. She quickly settled in and made a marked recovery for several months. She was treated as an important member of the Barty House community. She thoroughly enjoyed the activities particularly the Oomph trips. The entertainments officers work tirelessly to improve the quality of life of the residents. Sadly, she passed away today (06/03/20).

My sister-in-law was at Barty House for three months for palliative care. She was well looked after and treated with dignity and respect. The staff were all friendly and helpful to the family and the nursing care received was excellent. In my sister-in-law's final days, the staff were incredibly supportive and the care received was outstanding.

My father's health had been declining and he was in the final stages of end of life care. He came into Barty House for two weeks respite to give Mum a bit of a break as she is in her 80s. From the moment that we first visited as soon as you walk into reception, there is a warm, friendly feel that is welcoming. We had a tour on Sunday and the staff could not do enough to help. What stood out the most was the homely feeling and it didn't feel like a nursing home at all, more like a home from home. My father doesn't talk much, just thumbs up or down, but when I asked him if he had enjoyed his stay he gave it the thumbs up. I visited him most days - the room that he had was very well kept, very clean, with lovely, patio doors, which opened up to the garden area, bird feeders on the wall, and a nice garden. His daily routine was excellent and good, home-cooked food. The staff take time to communicate and listen. I would recommend Barty House 110% to anyone looking for a care home for their loved one.

My father was admitted to Barty House in December 2019 for end of life care. From the moment he arrived he felt completely comfortable and happy with his surroundings. He was very well looked after by all the staff who were very attentive and always happy and on-call to help 24/7. His care was impeccable. The food was excellent and the staff went out of their way to make him comfortable. He was treated with dignity from the beginning to the very end.

My father reluctantly decided he needed more care as he was suffering from terminal cancer. We were so pleased we chose Barty House where he settled in quickly. All the staff were friendly and had time to talk to both him and us as a family. His room was kept very clean and all his personal care carried out with compassion. During my father's last few days his care was exceptional. We were very touched by how Barty House laid him to rest.

My 87-year-old mother booked a two-week stay, to convalesce following a hysterectomy. She had been before and had a positive experience. She was very weak and tired on arrival. No staff were present initially, but when they did appear were welcoming and helpful. Mother's room was on the second floor and she felt isolated, which culminated in 1) Two days before her name on her door (not all staff knew she was there). 2) The buzzer did not work for the first 4/5 days. 3) Two days before she knew of heat/radiator controls. 4) Meals often late i.e. 2 pm lunch, 6.30 pm tea. 5) No jug of water one afternoon. 6) Food mixed - lovely lunches, poor sandwiches/breakfast often not as she ordered. She vacated a day early.

After a long illness, my husband could no longer be cared for at home which resulted in his admission to Barty House Nursing Home. On arriving we were introduced to once again another body of compassionate and caring staff that helped us through what was to be the most difficult time. The professionalism, care and empathy given was second to none and in particular, I wish to thank my husband's regular carer.

A beautiful care home and a busy and bustling environment. The care home was friendly and welcoming and the staff listened to what we wanted from them. My relative went there for palliative care (late-stage) and it was important she had a "quiet" space to rest peacefully at the end of her life. She was given a nice, light and airy room. As she was blind, and in a strange place, we wanted her to feel safe. She passed away in the night and I was assured she had someone with her when she died, which was very reassuring.

The staff were very kind and caring and I would recommend this nursing home to anyone considering care for a loved one.

I have recently lost my dad after a four-week stay at Barty House. I chose carefully and the home is outstanding. The team that looked after my dad (and it's a large team !) are amazing. From the cleaners, carers, nurses, reception and not forgetting maintenance ( for picture hanging ! ) and of course the food, and laundry... it’s a slick operation. The last few nights I stayed and was so looked after. I had a lot of chats with the manager and any required actions needed where addressed. For palliative care of a loved one, they are experts. If more able-bodied lots to do as well.
At an extremely difficult time, they shone. I will always recommend you. Keep up the hard work team Barty.

Thanks to each and every one of you.

My husband has stayed at Barty House for two spells of respite care. The most recent being January 2019 and prior to that he stayed in November 2018. All staff were very friendly, kind and caring, taking an interest in the person and their interests and needs. Nothing was too much trouble. Always made to feel very welcome. As a family, we would not hesitate to use Barty House for future respite stays.
