Since my mother became a resident at Birkin Lodge in 2021 she has received excellent care from all the team at the home. She enjoys the activities and the company of fellow residents in addition to all the staff. My mother often comments on the kindness of all the team and she enjoys the food at Birkin Lodge immensely.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review for Birkin Lodge, we appreciate all your comments and feedback. It is lovely to hear that your mother enjoys the activities and the company of other residents and the staff. It's lovely to hear that your mother is happy with the care from our wonderful team. Kind regards.
The care from all the staff at the home is very good. Mum seems happy and has made friends. Mum joins in with the activities. Food is very good. We did have an incident with rough handling by an agency carer, but when reported to the manager, it was dealt with very well. It is good that I can visit anytime, which makes you feel that there is nothing to hide! Nice, friendly home and I like to join the activities too!
The home is absolutely fantastic and I am enjoying my stay here. I enjoy the activities on offer and I always feel valued and made to feel special on my Birthday I was treated like a Queen.
I am very happy with the way my friend is treated here at Birkin Lodge. She is always impressed with one lady and the activities on offer. I saw her go from a shell of a person back into her fun and loving self. The home is clean and always smells nice. Staff make you feel welcome, and nothing is too much trouble. I can not comment on the price, as I do not know costing.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for Birkin Lodge Care Home; we appreciate all comments and feedback. It is our pleasure to care for your friend as part of our Birkin Lodge family and wonderful to see her flourishing in our home. We look forward to seeing you on your next visit.
I have been shown images of how my stepfather had some good interactive days during the week before he died. Though declining health meant he was more often in his room, Birkin Lodge knew he was both gregarious and popular and made every effort when he had a 'good day' to get him up and out as that enabled him to thrive. I know even more fully after visiting today to clear the home of his possessions how well the staff knew my stepfather and cared about him. I thank them.
The stress, worry and guilt at having to place my mother in a care home has been allayed by the knowledge that at Birkin Lodge she is being very well looked after. Everyone is lovely and friendly and communication is excellent. Thank you to all for looking after her so wonderfully.
Birkin Lodge has many great attributes, however, I feel the staff are what makes this an excellent home. The very first time I visited I was warmly welcomed by every member of staff and this has continued for the 19 months that Mum has been a resident. There are too many people to mention, with examples of excellence at all levels. It was the most heart wrenching decision to place Mum in care but I truly believe I couldn't have chosen anywhere better locally.
Her care and wellbeing are an obvious priority to the staff, she suffers from Parkinson’s and can sometimes be quite challenging, but the staff always have time and patience for her. She likes the food and when encouraged to join in the social activities arranged, really enjoys being with others.
She has settled down well at the Lodge, and we are enjoying the peace of mind that comes when we know that she is absolutely in the right place. We are very grateful to all the wonderful staff at Birkin Lodge.
Mum moved to Birkin Lodge last year during the pandemic so I was unable to view the home personally. However, the staff I spoke to gave me confidence that she would be fine and how right they were. She has settled in well and loves the daily entertainment which is stimulating and engaging. I love seeing the Facebook updates so even when we were unable to visit, we could see she was happy and well cared for. The staff nursed Mum through Covid and held her hand through a family bereavement. We could not have asked for more. Now I am able to visit I see she has a lovely bright airy room with her own bits and pieces to make it feel like home. She really is enjoying her autumn years and I cannot thank the staff enough for all the care and friendship they give her.
Whenever I take him there, it is always familiar faces, which is so nice, as they remember him and vice versa. I’ve been very happy with the care he has received and will continue to use Birkin Lodge whenever we need to.
Thank you, Lesley, for letting us know how we are doing at Birkin Lodge Care Home. The care and wellbeing of every resident is our number one priority and it is rewarding to have such positive feedback about how we are doing.
The comments are, in general, based on the information provided by the resident, as we have not yet been able to go into the home due to the pandemic. Because of her particular circumstances, the resident is unable to answer questions about safety, or value for money, so we have used our own judgement on these issues. Our overall impressions are, from a distance, very favourable, and any issues we have raised, or queries we have submitted, have been responded to very efficiently.
Thank you, Stewart, for your comments about your recent experience at Birkin Lodge Care Home. Our residents’ wellbeing is our main priority and it is great to hear that you are pleased with the quality of our care.
The care and attention given to my father is outstanding, I’m very happy that he is safe and well cared for. All the staff are very personable and nothing is too much for them even during the difficult times of the pandemic.
Thank you, Sally, for letting us know how we are doing at Birkin Lodge Care Home. The care and wellbeing of every resident is our number one priority and it is rewarding to have such positive feedback about how we are doing.
I had to arrange for my mum to move to Birkin Lodge during the lockdown. Despite my not being able to visit, I know she is really happy here. Being able to see what she is up to via Facebook is fantastic and makes us feel connected. The staff go out of their way to care for her and really do keep her and all the other residents occupied with a whole host of daily activities, so much so she’s often too busy to answer our phone calls. I am reliably informed the food is excellent, her only complaint, not being able to choose between steak and kidney pudding or fish on the menu on the same day. I understand the problem was easily solved by a little bit of both. Bearing in mind everything has been done remotely due to Covid - nothing is too much trouble. I can really commend the manager and her dedicated team.
Thank you, Francis, we always appreciate individuals taking the time to give their feedback and we are very pleased to hear that your experience at Birkin Lodge Care Home was so positive. All of our team are committed to providing the best possible care experience for all of our residents and it is very rewarding to have their efforts recognised.
Although there are many things to recommend Birkin Lodge, I would like to above all pay tribute to the dedication and compassion of the care staff. They really do care about each individual's well being. There are always lots of smiles and laughs, and so many activities and interactions with the residents. It's not an easy job but they do it so well.
So a sincere and heartfelt THANK YOU from Mum's whole family, she really couldn't be in better hands x
Cannot praise the ladies and gents at Birkin Lodge highly enough. They have been nothing more than accommodating during the whole covid-19 pandemic. Nothing is too much trouble and they deserve the highest recognition. A special mention goes to one lady in particular who has been outstanding. She has ensured we are able to contact our relatives via video calls, she has been a fantastic contact for any questions we've had. She is a real asset to your establishment. As are all of the other members of your team. Thank you so much for looking after everyone with flawless standards.
Ever since my first visit to my father in August, I have been very impressed by the friendliness and caring attitude of certain members of the Birkin Lodge team. I have been further impressed by this particularly in the unprecedented times we have found ourselves in this year. The team go above and beyond to try and keep relatives and residents in touch with video calls and social media. You are all very much appreciated. Thank you all.
Reassurance for me that he is being cared for in the best possible way; thank you.
My father moved to Birkin Lodge just over a year ago and I have been generally very impressed with the care and services they provide. There are always staff around to ask any questions and dad’s room is kept clean and I believe he is well cared for. My dad doesn’t want to take part in any activities offered by the home, but the wonderful activities coordinator continues to encourage him to take part in the huge variety of activities she runs which is fantastic. My dad enjoys the food, and the facilities guy is great at helping with any maintenance or TV issues very swiftly. The home is secure and clean and the communal room upstairs welcoming for visitors. I would recommend this home.
Very friendly.
Many thanks for your positive review, it's great to hear that you found our team to be friendly. If there's anything you'd like to discuss further, feel free to pop in and see the Home Manager for a chat anytime.
Birkin Lodge is, overall, a very good care home for its residents. The carers are genuinely supportive of the residents and make sure their needs are met. Food and drink are of high quality. The tea round staff are friendly and efficient.
