She has been resident there since 2025 & has had rather a traumatic experience with her husband (who obviously did a lot for her) dying & losing her home. Her children live some distance away & her grandchildren (whom she brought up) are both very busy.
She has a nice room & gets on very well with the staff who look after her very well.

My beloved grandmother recently came to live at Birkin Lodge, I was very impressed with the friendly staff, the fact that we are allowed to visit at anytime and the fun activities that were put on everyday - which we were able to join in with. We had food tasting, fun facts, quizzes, a BBQ in the garden, general fun. My grandmother, whom is over 100 years old is enjoying her stay immensely - especially the food which I have to say looks top notch. The thing that has most struck me is the fact that everyone goes beyond and above to make their residents and guests welcome, it really is a home from home, I cannot recommend this place enough!

Mum had been feeling unwell and staff at Birkin were quick to get Doctor to check on her and arrange further testing at local hospital.. they arranged hospital transport and an escort.. I was then able to meet them at the hospital for said tests and listen to consultation .. mum was seen and had even had a packed lunch prepared in the event of any delay which I'm pleased to say there was none.. and on returning to Birkin she was even able to have her favourite meal "fish and chips " .. I feel the staff are both caring and attentive and are happy to discuss any issues that may arise .. I feel that mum's needs are covered and that gives me peace of mind

We hold a monthly communion service at the Birkin Lodge Care & Nursing Home and are always made welcome; the residents speak well of living there too. The Lodge has recently undergone refurbishment so all is looking bright and welcoming. Always seem to have a range of activities going on and a good varied menu with vegetarian options.

What an amazing place! The staff are the best. It's so lovely to see my grandad so happy and well looked after. Thank you so much.

I visit the home on an almost daily basis, I am always welcomed in like a member of one big family, not just as a family member to a resident. The activity coordinator arranges the most amazing special events and I am often pulled along for the ride and I love it. The head of department is infectious and joyful and even on my auntie's darkest days she can bring a smile to her face. The care team and management team are always present and available to talk if I ever need to. I would highly recommend this home based on its love, care and compassion. I always see clean and fresh living areas and what stands out the most is the dignity and respect that is shown to each resident whenever I am there. I love seeing how happy my aunt is since coming to live and make friends at Birkin Lodge. For the money that is paid to stay here, I would say they are selling themselves short. We were quoted much more for much less in other places.
My nana is very happy here at Birkin lodge. She has been with them since January, starting with a few weeks of respite and loved it so much she is now a permanent resident at the home. The staff are all so friendly and kind and caring. My nana said it’s like a family home and she feels very safe and happy here and made some new friends. They do a wide range of activities which she loves to be involved in. Sometimes she struggles with her sight but they are always willing to help and encourage her. The food is of a very high standard and they are always willing to accommodate me joining my nana when I visit, by offering me to stay and have tea or lunch with her. We are very lucky that we have managed to get my nana into such a kind caring place.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for Birkin Lodge Care Home, we appreciate all comments and feedback and will pass your kind words on to the staff team.
My mum is well cared for in a safe, warm environment. The staff are friendly and approachable. My mum enjoys the food provided; I believe there are a wide variety of choices for lunch and supper. I like that you can visit at any time of the day.

Excellent care home. Home from home for residents. Always something going on for residents to be involved with. Friendly and efficient, competent staff. The food is always very good. Management and nursing staff are always available for any concerns.

My mother was stuck in the hospital after breaking her hip and then having two heart attacks while recuperating from the ensuing hip operation. She told me more than once, whilst there, that she was too tired to fight on and just wanted to give up. Since being placed in Birkin Lodge, however, she has literally gained a new lease on life. She is the happiest I've seen her for some time and goes to great lengths to tell me (and anyone who will listen) how wonderful the staff are, how friendly they are towards her and how I couldn't have chosen a better care home for her. Needless to say, this is a huge relief for me too. Mum is 99 years old later this year and still as sharp as a tack, much of which I attribute to the care she receives at Birkin Lodge, so thank you to everyone involved, from both of us.
Thank you for your wonderful review of Birkin Lodge. It is our pleasure to care for your mother and we are delighted at the progress she has made with us, she is truly one of the family here now.
This home is amazing for giving each and everyone of the residents a personal touch. My grandad was terrified to go into a home, but when he went here he was delighted. They treated him so well and went above and beyond what they needed to. A home where you can genuinely expect the best care for your loved one.
