We are aware Mum is being cared for very well. Her care is excellent, and she is kept in a clean and comfortable way. Only get to see her weekly due to work commitments. My only one issue is we are not always kept in the loop regarding some appointments she had had until the very last minute, also we didn't know a dentist was seeing her until we received a bill for four visits.

Reply from Angie Cooper, Client Relationship Manager at Hythe View

Thank you for the positive review about the home. I have advised the management team about appointments, so this is communicated moving forward.

I can't thank Hythe View enough, all the staff are friendly and kind and go out of their way to help. Dad has been in the care home for three months. He arrived on death's door and the staff, who were patient and kind have given Dad a new lease of life. My particular thanks go to the manager, home administrator and other management staff who make Hythe View the special place it is. Thank you all so much.

My cousin came to Hythe View needing end-of-life care for terminal cancer. With this came high-end nursing needs too. The home did not let us down in our expectations at all of their care. Everything was done with professionalism but also with care and compassion. The home was clean, warm and welcoming at all times. When the end came, again they were professional, caring and compassionate not only to my cousin but to our family too. Thank you to all!

Mum and Dad came to Hythe View for 2 weeks respite care following a stroke and a bad fall. This has been the perfect place for their recovery.
The accommodation (with sea views!) is luxurious and the care staff are delightful and have been wonderful to Mum and Dad.
From previous reviews, I thought this would be a good choice but it has far exceeded our expectations.

I can highly recommend Hythe View.

Review from D R (Sister-in-law of Resident) published on 13 February 2023 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

This care home is not fit for purpose. My brother-in-law is here on end-of-life care. We arrived today to find him in his bed, no blanket on him naked from the waist down lying in his own faeces. Pressed the carer button and waited 20 mins for a carer to turn up to clear him up. This is not the first time this has happened, seems to be every weekend they have agency staff on, they don't care. Top it off we are in the lounge waiting for them to clean him up, we find at least 8 handover sheets given to carers with all the resident's medical details on, so we can see what everyone is suffering from. Big Data Protection policy breakage. They want £1400.00 a week for this care, an absolute joke. Please do not send your family members here for end-of-life care. They are not capable of this level of care.

Review from Jenny L (Daughter of Resident) published on 2 February 2023 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My father was a bed-bound resident for three years prior to passing away in October 2022. My husband and I visited four times a week and were always greeted by friendly, caring reception staff who showed genuine interest in our family and were always equally helpful and supportive when phoned for information. They and the nursing staff were wonderful to us when my father died. In the first town years of his care, the home had a united and family atmosphere. Led by an accessible, caring and understanding management. This last year changes in management and policy here led to many long-term valued staff choosing to leave. Food quality deteriorated as a succession and chefs came and went. The standard of food became unsatisfactory when residents are paying high fees for care. We observed a general atmosphere of uncertainty and lack of positivity among carers, with staff feeling undervalued. Despite nursing and reception care remaining exemplary. These management issues need addressing ad the staff and residents deserve better.

My father passed away in April 2022, he had been a resident of Hythe View for a year and was always well looked after. The staff were very kind and supportive at a difficult time. My mother is also in Hythe View, she is also well looked after and received a lot of support from the staff when my father passed away. There is always a positive attitude from the staff and they are always willing to help. The home is always clean and tidy with no nasty smells!

Review from Colin G (Husband of Resident) published on 16 December 2022 Submitted via Website

My wife has been a resident in Hythe View for more than 6 years. Over this period she has received consistently good care. My only concern has been when the ownership changed and there have been 4 managers over the time. I hope now for a stable period. As time has passed, my wife becomes more handicapped and naturally, we hope that our loved one is not suffering too much. I am confident that with the professional staff who care, she is in the right place.

There would be too much to write on this form, but if you would like to contact me I would be happy to explain. Unless something is done with this home to improve the resident's well-being, then I will take the problems further. So far, nobody has listened to anything I say. Please speak to me.

Overall Experience

We chose Hythe View for our mother, after visiting quite a few. She'd been in a Nursing Home in another part of Kent which suddenly closed down, and we were fortunate that a room with a lovely view was available for her. She spent three very content years at Hythe View until her death in mid June 2022, although the terrible frailty of her very late nineties meant that her last months were spent in bed. The nurses and carers, and support staff, were consistently professional not only with Mum but also with me and the rest of the family. Covid 19 precautions were implemented early and stringently. I found the nurses in particular were proactive with her healthcare needs, not waiting for me or other relatives to suggest treatment options. The manager in charge in 2019 was one of the reasons we selected this home, and on her retirement, she has been replaced with a manager equally experienced, accessible and knowledgeable. All staff are recruited with care.
