Moved my auntie into the home. So pleased she was loved and cared for - so thankful we moved her when we did. She wasn't there long (only 3.5 weeks) but she was happy there as were we. Thank you all x

Thanks to the dedication and compassion of staff at Well's House, my loved one was taken good care of in his last months. I'm so grateful he was looked after here, the environment felt more homely and staff were caring. It made such a difference to him, and us as family, that staff made time to get to know him, and helped him to enjoy some of the things he used to. It seemed that the manager, the activity leader and other staff really do care and want the best for residents here and their families.

Review from Steve C (Son of Resident) published on 12 March 2026 Submitted via Website

My dad was sent to Wells House after hip surgery form a fall at a previous care home as part of an NHS assessment. Dad suffered from advanced dementia and was extremely frail. From the moment he arrived he seemed more settled and comfortable than at any other time on our long battle to obtain appropriate care for him. We were immediately at ease. The staff were all amazing and the house is clean and well maintained. Sadly Dad took a turn for the worse from an underlying issue and was put on end of life care. Regardless of his condition, the staff were brilliant. Dad was extremely well cared for on every level and most importantly to us, they treated him as a real person, with respect and the utmost care. My family were also really well looked after too.The staff at Wells House returned my dad's dignity in his final weeks and for that were are extremely grateful. A truly great service from wonderful staff.

I can not fault the service received. My father is extremely well cared for and the staff manage his challenges well. Knowing dad is being cared for in such a compassionate and professional manner is one less thing to worry about.

Over the years Wells House have cared for my grandfather, mother, and father and they have maintained a high quality service throughout this time.

The marvellous building tires inside. Bathroom impossibly small for tall person. But, cosy room with wonderful view made up for it. All staff were kind, respectful, helpful and empathetic and made the last weeks for our father, and us, as good as they could be. Me and my siblings were utterly grateful to them all and their kindness to us and the knowledge that our beloved dad was looked after beautifully was perfect. Thank you!

My mother has been at Wells House on palliative care for a couple of weeks. I cannot offer higher praise for the standard of care she has received. The staff are polite, sensitive and respectful. My mother has a lovely room with a view of the garden. I feel that I am welcome to visit at any time but when I cannot be there I am certain my mother is well cared for and lacking for nothing.

My mother has been at Wells House for 5 months, she was very worried about going into a nursing home, however her stay has been only positive. The care and support she received has been of the highest quality. The staff from nurses to chefs has been wonderful. I have worked in the care sector for 33 years and I could not be happier or more confident that my mother is being cared for by an amazing team. I would recommend this home to anybody looking for a relative or loved one.

Having been in hospital for two weeks following major surgery and not sleeping once on the main ward I arrived at Wells House exhausted. On stepping into the hallway I immediately felt better. The staff were lined up to greet me. From that moment on I improved daily. The staff so friendly, the activities lady amazing. The chefs and freshly cooked food, amazing. I had eaten very little in hospital. I was on a little and often low-fibre diet, all my needs catered for.

I cannot thank the staff enough for the loving care my aunt received in her final hours on 13/12/23. The end-of-life care given by a particular member of staff was impeccable as well as night care staff. My aunt arrived at Wells House 22 months ago when we thought we were going to lose her but with all the care and support she received, she proved us all wrong including the staff. I believe she had many happy times there and I thank you very much to the five members in particular to mention a few that I had dealings with.

After endless sleepless nights and days spent searching for a suitable nursing home, I finally feel I've found the perfect forever home for my mum after she'd suffered a stroke. From the outset, my mum and I (and my dog!) received a warm welcome and have continued to feel comfortable in a peaceful homely environment - with a beautiful garden and lovely sea views. My mum appears to have settled in well and the care she's received to date has been excellent. When the time comes, many years from now (hopefully!), I shall book myself a room here too.

Big thank you to everyone at Wells House for giving me peace of mind.
