My mother-in-law has been at Wells Lodge for nearly a year. The staff are always friendly, professional and helpful. My mother-in-law and the home are always clean. We are very happy she is in this nursing home and would recommend it to anyone looking for a loved ones new home. They even had a fun Christmas party for families to enjoy together.

We were worried about my mother-in-law settling in as she had been living alone for numerous years. She settled straight in and stated that she loved her room. The food and staff were excellent.

We have found the staff are very helpful and friendly.

My mother was transferred to Wells Lodge Nursing Home following a two-month stay in hospital. The staff have been extremely helpful and friendly and always keep me updated on my mum's condition. The room is lovely and very comfortable.

Review from Andrew H (Grandson of Resident) published on 23 December 2022 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
From the first point of contact with the home, the leadership and support from all the staff at the home have been outstanding. From the planned admission to ongoing care support, the team have gone that extra yard to make sure my 96-year-old grandmother is treated with respect and dignity, that she is valued as an Individual, with choices that make her feel in control of her own decisions.
The team's person-centred approach to care shines through when you not only look at their interactions with my grandmother but also with other people who live at the home.
Communication has been excellent when updating family members about my nan, thus having a positive impact on all to relax in the knowledge she is being well looked after.

My nan feels safe and secure and that is a credit to the professionalism of all the staff who work at the home.

A very friendly little care home, efficiently run by a great team of dedicated staff.
My aunt has now had two extended stays there and has recovered and recuperated to the extent that she is now able to go home.
A massive thank you to all the team for their care and compassion.

Highly recommended.

The staff are so caring and understand the needs of my dad. I can sleep at night knowing that my dad is in a safe and caring environment. I am constantly updated on my dad, so communication with the home is excellent. They have become part of our family. Five star service and much more.

The first comment is on the superb standard of cleanliness. No odours whatsoever. This will demonstrate the loving care given by staff - genuinely caring. Never meet with abruptness at any time. The resident is always fresh and immaculately presented. Food is appreciated and obviously very tasty. I am delighted we chose Wells Lodge for my aunt - still smiling at 95.

Not good at all. To find out that a family member has not eaten or drunk for two days and they have not even told anyone that they phoned the doctors yesterday. Now my family member is in hospital. And for a staff member to tell my family member many times to mess in nappy they will sort it out later. In my eyes this is neglect.

My father was quickly accepted for nursing care and whist Covid impacted upon his stay in terms of family visits because the staff provided such a wonderful service we felt he was in the best place possible. We were kept up to date on his care and when allowed our visits were accommodated quickly and without too much trouble.

I arrived at Wells Lodge Nursing Home in a low state (unable to go back to my flat) after spending several weeks in hospital after collapsing at home. From the moment I arrived here (when as I said I was feeling low in myself), I can only say the welcome and care by everyone, staff and management was excellent and helped me considerably. I feel I may have belonged here and my mobility and health are improving all the time with the staff so helpful and caring personally.

Overall Experience

The resident moved to Wells Lodge in April 2018 after a stroke, and as a daily visitor, I was very impressed with the building, the staff and the care. There was always a nurse on duty, and many of the carers were from Nepal, where they have respect and love for older people, so she was always treated so well. In addition, there were regular residents and family meetings, monthly newsletters and social programs and fundraising activities. I was regularly updated if she was ill, and I can't praise the staff and the care enough.

My mum has been a resident for six years. In the main, I'm very satisfied with my mum's care. Covid has been horrendous and has affected everyone. My only feedback would be more time with my mum -30-mins once a week is not acceptable now.

Reply from Paul Burns, Director at Wells Lodge Nursing Home

We do understand your comments on visiting time but unfortunately, the management of Covid testing for visitors and the infection control requirements to maintain safety greatly restricts us. We are all hopeful for more freedom in due course but must remain highly vigilant for the safety and wellbeing of all our residents and staff.

Being able to see and talk to Mum through Skype, during this long period of lockdown, has been a great bonus. Many thanks to Wells Lodge staff at all levels, and especially the assistance provided to Mum during calls, on a remarkably stable screen.
