All staff are friendly, cheerful and very helpful to residents' family and friends visiting. All areas of the home are kept very clean and fresh. Entertainment is amazing and good variety for all residents. Good home-cooked food every day with plenty of drinks at all times. Best decision we made to use this care home for my sister-in-law.

My wife has been in Abingdon Court for over 2 years and has always received excellent care from all the staff. My wife has advanced Alzheimer's and is registered blind, with very poor hearing. 16 months ago, she had a fall and broke her hip. She has no mobility and is not able to take part in a lot of the activities, but the staff always tries to include her as much as possible. The staff are wonderful and give her all the care and support that they can.

My husband Geoff came in for respite care but after about 4 days when he was no longer able to walk, I knew he could not come home. The care and attention he received was extremely good, very kind and professional. We were kindly and gently welcomed in and some of our children stayed quite late at night. My daughter in law is a GP, my youngest son is a consultant surgeon. They too are very pleased pleased and totally in agreement with everything the staff did.

Generally I am satisfied with the care my husband is receiving. Occasionally I have to raise some minor problems with carers and management, i.e. my husband not being shaved every day, and frequently untidy wardrobe and chest of drawers. Sometimes have to wait quite a long time for him to be taken to the toilet. I am happy when my husband is happy. All staff are pleasant and approachable.

I have found that my father has been very well looked after. His personal care is well tended to and he always looks well dressed and cared for. I know my Dad enjoys the food and is always positive about. The activities are well thought out, including for those who are less able bodied. You always get the sense that the staff enjoy their jobs and are extremely thoughtful and caring. Contact from the carehome is good and appointments are also kept, with staff from the home attending when needed.

Dad was very happy at Abingdon Court. The quality of care provided was outstanding, and the home was always clean with good quality food - things that were important to Dad. In addition all the staff, including nurses, carers, domestic staff and management were attentive and kind, making for a truely homely atmosphere. Staff went out of their way to enable Dad to continue to pursue his interests and live life his own way. At the end of his life he was always treated with respect and compassion.

I can recommend Abingdon Court without reservation.

Dad spent a year and 2 weeks at Abingdon Court before he died. Of course we would rather he had been at home but he received such wonderful care it makes his loss easier to bear. His care was provided with compassion, respect and professionalism. The ethos was very much that Dad was at home not in a facility. Every effort to accommodate our requests was always met. My Mum and I were also treated as one of the family and continue to be. I would definitely recommend them for your loved one or yourself.

Thank you so very much.

Like most people, when the time came to choose a care home for mum, I had had no previous experience. Initial impressions were good. It felt homely, warm and quiet. Sadly, very soon after mum arrived, I had concerns about the lack of interaction between mum and the staff. On every occasion I visited, (at weekends as I visited from Manchester), mum was sat in a room with other residents. There were maybe one or two staff sitting in the far corner glued to laptops or phones. No interaction, no stimulation, no physical contact, no engagement. I had no idea whether the staff were nursing, care or cleaning but nonetheless, not what I expected. I felt uncomfortable asking questions about mum and her health, even basic questions such as her last meal were difficult. It seemed that only the nurse could tell me how mum was. Eventually, we moved mum into a new care home, and on the day of her departure, the staff fussed over her like she was departing royalty. Too little, too late I'm afraid.

My Mother walked into the care home in Dec 2023. She has Alzheimer's but could communicate, and feed herself, fully continent, very sociable and happy. Six months later we removed her from Abingdon Court as she was no longer able to walk, communicate, or feed herself, incontinent and so anxious she was sedated 24 hours a day, and never left her bed. All family members felt very uncomfortable visiting the home as the majority of the staff were rude, unhelpful and patronising. My Mother arrived at 10.6 stone and in 6 months she dropped to just over 7 yet no one would sit with her to help her eat. Since moving homes my Mother is no longer sedated during the day, is smiling, has no anxiety attacks, enjoys her food and her quality of life has improved just in one month.
