Abingdon Court is a recently refurbished purpose-built care home offering residential, nursing and dementia care.

The 'home from home' feel at Abingdon Court is created by the dedicated staff who have been selected not only for their professional ability but also for their commitment to truly making a difference for the people in their care.

Residents' rooms are spacious and feature en suite facilities. The communal areas are at the centre of what makes Abingdon Court a real community whether it be at meal times or when enjoying activities. There are no fixed visiting hours so friends and family can come and see residents at any time.

The dining experience at Abingdon Court boasts fine home cooking by a professional Chef who has created a menu to reflect the interests and tastes of the discerning residents.

Activities and day trips are an integral part of the residents' well being. The activities coordinator encourages and helps residents continue with existing interests and also introduces new hobbies. The minibus is used frequently to take residents on day trips near and a little further from the home. The trips are very popular and recently, days out to Millets Farm, Notcutts Garden Centre, Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens and Dorchester Abbey have been greatly enjoyed.

Respite care at Abingdon Court is very popular and enables those wishing to experience what the Home has to offer before making a full commitment.

Very happy with the level of care/support. Great staff. Great management.
Cannot really comment on food as I didn't visit near mealtimes. However, the snacks served in my father's room looked good.

My mother spent her last 3 months in the care of Abingdon Court Care Home until she sadly died. Throughout she was treated with respect and love. I was allowed to visit every day as she was deemed 'end of life' care and I would arrive at different times each day and she was always well cared for. The
staff all had so much patience and professionalism. The home was always clean and well managed. All the staff treated me also with kindness and always went out of their way to help.

The home gave me peace of mind. He was respected with dignity. Always clean and well cared for. The staff were always present with reports on his behaviour and eating habits. I always left him with an easy mind that he was ok.

I can only commend the high level of care given to my friend, whose medical needs are complex. Staff have been very considerate as to his times of confusion and need for understanding. Initially, communications with myself were poor but have since improved. I appreciate the demands on the staff during
this exceptional time has been more than challenging. I have felt very safe with the measure put in place to allow visiting.

Cannot fault this establishment. Very professional taking all care of Re COVID. The staff are very pleasant and very helpful. It was so good to get this visit. My friend is loving it in this care home., allowing him his pleasure of gardening, even has an indoor greenhouse for seedlings. High standards
and lovely to see residents walking in the garden if able.

Given an impression of happiness in the reception area. Greeted as a friend.
Evidence of cleanliness everywhere. Absolutely no smells from anywhere, not even of food at mealtimes.

My wife became a resident in June 2019, she had dementia. Sadly she passed away on the 11th March 2021, the care she received throughout her stay was exemplary. She was treated with love, compassion and respect. I don't want to name names but all of the staff on the 2nd floor have my undying respect
and thanks for the way they have treated my wife, and all the other residents, they are all now regarded as my friends.

A very safe and relaxing visit. Lovely, caring and welcoming staff. The garden is looking transformed since Dad's last visit - a great space to meet. He is happy and relaxed, enjoying the short stay and speak very highly of the staff.

Overall my experience is very positive. Any issues have been taken on board and discussed and sorted with politeness and dignity. The whole staff (carers, nurses, cleaners, catering staff, entertainment as well) have always been approachable and friendly. I have not had many occasions to talk with the
management which is a good sign but when I have they have always been there to listen and discuss constructively. A massive thank you to ALL during the Covid-19 pandemic.

My mother was a resident of Abingdon Court for many years. During all that time the carers and all staff - and we say many come and go over the years - treated my mother with dignity, respect and fantastic love and care. I visited many times on different days and times and always found my mother happy,
well and cared for. The food is amazing and they adapt to residents needs amazingly well. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home. The loyalty and devotion of the staff is truly remarkable - particularly those on the second floor, where my mother's room was. The duty nurse on the floor and all the staff were wonderful. I will miss them.

I was at Abingdon Court for respite care following a long spell in hospital. My room was bright and airy, overlooking a river and trees and fields beyond. Staff are welcoming, genuinely caring, and so helpful and cheerful, finding time to feed residents if needed, or just perform like acts of kindness.
The activities are varied and designed to involve all types of resident. Nursing care is efficient and responsive. I hope to return here to convalesce after my next operation.

Lindsey

Lindsey Sivyer

Job Title: Dementia Ambassador Joined: 2018

Lindsey is Abingdon Court's Dementia Ambassador, and can often be seen in and around Reception, or showing new families around the home.


She is responsible for the promotion of best practice when it comes to caring for those living with dementia and trains our team regularly on new techniques.


Outside of work, Lindsey enjoys spending time with her 8 grandchildren and tidying up her garden, particularly in the sunshine.
