Very friendly and caring. I have made many friends both staff and residents with many activities. We can get our hair done, occasionally facials. Trips to the local supermarket and other shops. Doctor and dentist nearby.
Reply from Christine Hamilton, Home Manager at Brookfield Care HomeThank you so much for your review of Brookfield care home. It is so good to hear that since moving into Brookfield you have not only made friends with other residents and staff but also had the opportunity to get out and about in the community.
I will pass on your kind words to the staff team.

My father has been a resident since April 2016. He has settled well and I am really pleased he is living in such a pleasant place which is his home.

The staff are always patient with my father and treat him with respect.

I always feel at ease when I visit and the staff are always available for

updates on my father, answer any questions I may have, listen to any suggestions I may make and take any action where necessary.
Reply from Christine Hamilton, Home Manager at Brookfield Care HomeThank you very much for your review of Brookfield Care Home. It is good to know that you feel at ease when visiting your father and that you find staff patient and respectful. "I'm not going in one of those homes.... never... never.... never!" - the words of my mum just a few weeks ago. She was getting carers visit 3 times a day at home to wash, dress, feed, etc - but she also needed someone there 24/7. The family did it for a few months, but it just got too much.
A place
was found at this home to take her. We told Mum it was a 2 weeks respite care to give us a break, so she agreed to go, although very wary. But after just 3 days, she told us she wished she could stay there because it was so good. She was getting attention whenever she needed or wanted it, fed good food, medicines sorted, made friends already, "sing-a-longs", own room with en-suite - "it's like a hotel," she said.
Absolutely chuffed to bits with the place and the people - and that is good enough for me. Staff and management are ALL superstars in this place - so friendly and caring, but also so professional. Thank you for changing the quality of my mum's life.
Reply from Christine Hamilton, Home Manager at Brookfield Care HomeThank you so much for your review of Brookfield Care Home. It is so wonderful to hear that your Mum enjoyed her stay so much she has decided to stay with us permanently despite saying “never”. Your kind comments about the friendly, caring, professional staff are very much appreciated, words I will ensure I share with all of them.

My father his happy and well looked after. Brookfield's staff are marvellous, always willing to help support the family as well as my father.

Brookfield is clean and tidy. Staff are very busy but always have time to talk to you and assist if needed.

The atmosphere in this home is relaxing and

stimulating for the residents to keep active in mind and body.

Overall it is a very good home for my father to keep safe and well.

I am very impressed with the care at Brookfield. The management is always there on hand to talk to and discuss any issues as they come up as well as advise on anything that may be troubling the family of the resident.
The care assistants are kind, attentive and very patient. The nursing staff is excellent
and cleaning staff are ready to sort out any issues as they occur.
My mother throws food on the floor but her room is always clean. I can't fault the facilities. If there is space for improvement it would be to vary perhaps more of the social activities.

My mother has had numerous health problems which have been dealt with swiftly by the nurses with positive outcomes - excellent care by them. The entertainment varies from people coming in from outside - semi/professional - to in- house activities designed not only to exercise the mind but also the body
- can't fault it. Regular meetings for relations to discuss issues and bazaars - fish and chips suppers all help to add to the life experiences of the residents.
Reply from Helen Nairn, Area Manager at Brookfield Care HomeThank you for telling us about the excellent care your Mother has been receiving from our nursing team. December is a very busy time for everyone especially the care staff making paperchains with the clients, decorating the dining rooms and passageways. For the last three years, I have been Father Christmas on Christmas Day. The clients have a really nice Christmas dinner, Christmas pudding and entertainment
after dinner. As a volunteer it's good to see the clients having fun, wrapping their presents, having visitors. I know it's just been December but all through the year, it's a very nice place to visit and volunteer.

Brookfield Care Home staff looked after my 95-year-old mother for the last 6 months. She was bed bound but totally alert and aware. The staff treated her with dignity recognising she was perfectly capable of making her own decisions about her care. She had very delicate skin and care staff were very
gentle with her. She absolutely loved the food. At the end, the staff kept me informed and called in the GP to check on her care. I am pleased we found Brookfield Care Home for mummy.

We were very impressed with Brookfield Christian Care Home. All of the staff seemed very nice and were all very helpful and friendly. On my mum's birthday, they made her a fabulous birthday cake and came in to sing happy birthday to her, making it quite a special occasion for her. They also provided
all her visitors that day with tea/coffee and biscuits. The rooms were very nice as well and it had a light and airy feel. I would definitely recommend Brookfield as a nice care home to stay.

Dad has been a resident for a year now. He has settled so well and is the calmest we have seen him for several years, he is now able to engage with us when we visit, to sit and chat and look at books with us, all the things he used to do. He is happy and smiling, the staff are so helpful and supportive
to both him and us. It feels like we are all just one big family caring for his needs together. They have respected and accommodated his long-standing habits, like snacking rather than eating meals. We could not have found a better place for him, and I cannot thank the staff enough for all they do. It always feels like nothing is too much trouble.
Reply from Wendy Champion, Home Manager at Brookfield Care HomeWhat a wonderful testament to how hard our team work to create a homely supportive environment. It's great to hear that your Dad is doing so well and that you all feel supported in assisting him, this is just as it should be. Thank you

My visits to see my mother at Brookfield Christian Care Home are infrequent because my home is in Cornwall. That said, when I do visit, I am pleased to see that mum is comfortable and is reasonably happy, as can be expected given the absence of most of her previous possessions and independence. Her
health and well-being have greatly improved because of the kind attention of the staff. She spends every day in a sitting room but she does have a nicely appointed room that has been personalised sympathetically. My visits are made more enjoyable by the kindness of the staff who, without exception, seem ready to help by providing tea and biscuits etc.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.415)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.415) out of 10 for Brookfield Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.515 for Brookfield Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (129 Excellents x 5) + (49 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 196 Ratings = 4.515
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brookfield Care Home is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
