When mum moved to her new home she struggled to settle but the staff have encouraged her and given her confidence to join in more. Her physical care, nutrition and general well-being have all improved immensely. Mum has begun to go out on outings, something unthinkable a year ago.
Reply from Wendy Champion, Home Manager at Brookfield Care HomeThank you for telling us about the care and support your Mum is receiving at Brookfield. It is wonderfully motivating for the team to hear you believe they have been able to give her the confidence to join in more and also enjoy some outings. Thank you.

Mu father has been a resident in Brookfields for 21/2 years. During this time he has been cared for beautifully. He is happy and secure. The staff are friendly but professional. Nothing is too much trouble. We are so grateful that he is at Brookfields.

My mother was admitted to Brookfield in February 2015 when the Hospital expected her to have only a few weeks left to live.
Everyone at the home made me feel at home straightaway and sorted out a GP for my mother. Her room was up to the best hotel standards and nothing was too much trouble. Her health
and condition improved almost at once. In fact I was given nearly a year extra of being with her thanks to Brookfield.
I always found it a pleasure to visit the Home and everyone greeted me as part of their family. Nothing was too much trouble. The people who looked after my mother got to know her really well. I have left photos that I took every month to show how happy she had become.
When the time came for her to pass away this was handled with care and compassion. I was given all the time I needed to cope. Some of the excellent staff even took time out to join me at her funeral. I could ask nothing more than I and my mother were given. It is to the credit of the Hospital social worker that she found this home for my mother.
Reply from Wendy Champion, Home Manager at Brookfield Care HomeThank you for taking time to write this lovely review of the care and support your Mother received at Brookfield Care Home. It is wonderful to hear that you and your Mother were able to have an extra year of happiness together and of how well the staff got to know you both. I will be sure to pass on your comments to the team whom I feel sure will be delighted to receive them.

My father staying here was totally inappropriate, this care home is unable to deal with all types of dementia or challenging behaviour.
My father was moved as soon as possible as the staff were unable to cope with him.
The upstairs of this care home is extremely sad.
Reply from Wendy Champion, Home Manager at Brookfield Care HomeI am sorry to hear that you are so unhappy with the care your Father received at Brookfield Care Home. As you are aware, despite our best efforts there were reasons why we could no longer care for your Father and I am sorry that he needed to move to another home in October. The room you chose for your Father was one of our large newly refurbished rooms and I am saddened to read that you felt these facilities were very poor.

I do hope that your Father has settled well into his new home and is receiving the level of support that he requires.

My Nan was only at Brookfield a short time but it was the happiest I have seen her in a long time. The staff were lovely and very welcoming. When Nan became poorly, the staff when above and beyond. Even in her last few days when all the family were staying they provided us with food and beds. we got
to spend those last precious moments with Nan. We are forever grateful. Care staff gave my Nan the best end of life care. This is an experience we will all go through and I am so so thankful my Nan's was a good one.

My Dad has been at Brookfield for eighteen months. After Mum died it became obvious Dad could no longer live alone. With Brookfield's help my Dad has gone from being a stressed unhappy man to a relaxed happy person who always has a ready smile and is cheerful, he will be the first to tell you he is
happy at Brookfield. I am always made welcome and visit often. The staff look after Dad well. Thank you Brookfield for making Dads life happy.

The care shown to our Mother and her family during her time at the home by its staff was outstanding during her final days and hours the dignity and respect given to us and our mother was amazing nothing was to much trouble from feeding us all and providing beds so we could stay at the home by her side
during that precious time. Members of staff even finishing a night shift and returning to provide her the care she deserved they went above and beyond what was expected. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts and will be forever in your debt

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.415)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.415) out of 10 for Brookfield Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.515 for Brookfield Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (129 Excellents x 5) + (49 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 196 Ratings = 4.515
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brookfield Care Home is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
