Having to have my mother taken into a care and nursing home because of her worsening dementia is stressful and worrying, to say the least. There are so many difficult feelings to cope with. But the one thing I have never had to worry about is the standard of care at Green Pastures. I can think of Mum during the day knowing that she could not be looked after more skillfully or professionally or empathetically anywhere else. It is wonderfully managed. From reception when we arrive and are welcomed and sensitively guided through the necessary safeguarding protocols, to the interaction with the nurses and carers one could not ask for more. The relationship between carers and clients is amazingly supportive and the team always seems to work together to bring a friendly atmosphere to the community. I can sleep at night knowing that Mum is in the best hands possible. Thank you Green Pastures.

My mother, who has Alzheimer’s, now considers the staff to be ‘my friends’. The staff not only look after her so well but are also aware of the mental pain relatives might be experiencing. Front of house receptionists are always welcoming and the whole building and gardens are spotless. As for the chef - meals that have to be puréed are served with care and flair and never just dolloped on the plate. I would hope to find such a place when I need it.

My wife has advanced Alzheimer’s and has been a resident at Green Pastures for some 23 months. Unfortunately, she had previously lost her speech and mobility and essentially relies on the nursing and caring staff to determine when and how her daily needs are carried out. From the outset, the staff have shown compassion, patience and understanding. Nothing is too much trouble even though in my wife’s case particular tasks can be less than straightforward.
Although my wife cannot express her feelings she is at home at Green Pastures. This is reflected in her regular smiles (and laughter) when face to face with those who care for her. Her appetite is good and she enjoys the sensible and varied menu available at the home.
Importantly also, the home has an excellent range of activities (for the residents) many of which I attend with my wife.

As a frequent visitor, I sample the warm and friendly atmosphere that prevails at Green Pastures. It is an excellent nursing home.

Mum has gone in for respite care, the change in her since she has been there is remarkable, facial colour good, appetite etc. The home is superb, it is spotlessly clean, has a lovely clean/fresh smell inside. The food is beautifully cooked, and the staff are wonderful in short a perfect home.

From the moment I walked into Green Pastures, I was so impressed with the friendly caring approach of all the staff. My father, unfortunately, was only a resident for a few days but I could not have wished for my father to have spent his final days in a more loving caring environment.

The staff were absolutely amazing. The care they gave my father (and our family) was just outstanding. I cannot put into words how grateful I am to you all for making my final days with my father so special.

As friends of someone who was there for about 10 months (one of us a friend of the resident for 65 years), we were hugely impressed with the whole atmosphere of the home. The personal care was excellent. We also liked the great number and variety of the activities.

Overall Experience

My sister was really apprehensive about going into a Care Home, but her failing health and long stays in Hospital were really taking their toll on her. From the first day she arrived at Green Pastures, it changed her life for the better. She is now happier than I have ever known her to be and her health has improved a great deal. She is doing things now that she thought she would never have the opportunity to do. Things we take for granted like sitting around a dining table and enjoying the feeling of being within a "Family". Baking and the Church services seem to be her favourite activities but she loves to see the children from all the different schools. The staff are outstanding, so friendly and caring, not just with the residents but also the families. She is very well cared for and it takes a lot of worry off my shoulders just knowing she is not alone anymore and will always be treated well and looked after to a very high standard.

From my first walk through the door to meet those who care for residents at Green Pastures, I knew this was the place for my father. The care, compassion and consideration they give is exceptional. Every person is an individual and their needs are accessed as such together with me, his relative, the nursing and caring team.
As my father's condition has deteriorated I have been involved and kept fully informed and updated with medication, reviews and assessments, plus and I really feel this is vital, a consideration for me too, as dementia is not something that just happens to 1 person, it happens to the whole family and that support is so important.

I could not wish for my father to be in a better place. I would have no hesitation in recommending Green Pastures Christian Nursing Home.

My sister is a resident at Green Pastures and has been for the past two years. She has Downes Syndrome and dementia. It's the quality of the staff that is most impressive. I feel entirely happy that my sister is in their care. I trust them. Not only do they look after her (she is unable to speak or to move without assistance) but you feel that they love her. I want her to feel loved and cared for at this most important period in her life. I am deeply grateful to them.

Mum has lived at Green Pastures Christian Nursing Home for 3 years.
We knew immediately it was the right place to meet the needs of her dementia.
It was important to Mum to be cared for in a Christian setting and she has access to church services within the home and visits from the local priest.
We are always warmly welcomed and feel part of whatever is going on - be it chatting with staff and residents, enjoying entertainment and reminiscent sessions or joining in with services.
A highlight is when lambs and chicks visit - seeing Mum feed the lambs and hold the chicks was wonderful.
You can see the genuine affection and respect between staff and residents - Mum is unfailingly clean, her clothing, bedding and room are spotless and she is very relaxed in her interactions with everyone.

There is great care and pride taken in everything from food, nursing, and laundry to care activities and environment and we feel lucky to have the peace of mind of knowing she is in good hands.

My mother moved to Green Pastures in November 2017 and I just can't believe the change in her. Staff at the care home really do care and take the time to sit and talk with her. As she has dementia, her short-term memory is very poor but she loves to chat and sing songs and when I visit her now she is very chatty and full of laughter and happiness. I cannot thank the staff enough for caring so much about my mum and I would highly recommend the home.

Mum has been at Green Pastures since July and moved to their new premises on Bath Road in August.
The new home is lovely. Resident rooms are large and beautifully decorated. Every room has its own ensuite shower room. The shared bathroom is a haven of light, sound and bubbles! The atrium a wonderful space for visiting entertainers. There is a diverse range of entertainment.
But Green Pastures is essentially about the people. The staff care about doing a good job. They care about Mum.
Lots of systems in place to show they deliver a great standard and there is a management team that wants to produce the best nursing home experience and is responsive to feedback.
Very experienced nurses from different branches of medicine. Carers are lovely with lots of fun personalities to lift the spirits! The chef and team claim to be "Living the Dream" and deliver interesting menus that even the fussiest eater will like. Mum enjoys the food.

Mum is now part of the Green Pastures "family".
