Every time I visit my Mum I am struck by the professionalism of the caring staff. The medical supervision and care are particularly strong. In the five years that Mum has been at Huntercombe, she (and we) have been treated with dignity and affection by the caring staff.
In terms of the building itself,
we appreciated the makeover that the dementia section of the home received. Recently, however, the lift in the dementia section has been out of order. This seems to me to be a serious health and safety risk - especially as, when we tried to take Mum downstairs for a change of scene - the other lift was also temperamental. Can you reassure us that both lifts will be restored to safe service as soon as possible, please?

Mum spent over6 years at Huntercombe before she passed away. She had considerable needs and we don't underestimate what was involved in caring for her. The carers were always polite, friendly and competent, both with Mum and visiting family, and they were communicative and attentive regarding any concerns.
A couple of members of staff were with her throughout her long stay, and that continuity of friendship and care was really important to Mum's welfare and happiness. I imagine that's fairly rare in the industry. We are also grateful to the unsung heroes involved with entertainment, laundry, catering, cleaning and maintenance who help make the home such a positive environment.

I was in Huntercombe for 8 weeks convalescence. It is an attractive building, set in woodland and close to the National Trust property, Nuffield House. The rooms are all pleasant and well furnished. The building was scrupulously clean and fresh smelling. From the first, I found staff at Huntercombe
attentive and helpful, they were smiling and polite, never inpatient. Helpfulness is perhaps the main feature of the place. The food was very good, especially after a hospital diet. Various activities were organised for residents each day and were well supported by those able and inclined to do so. In summary, my wife and I strongly recommend this place.

Dad was in Huntercombe Nursing Home from December through to April. Dad settled in well there. The nurses, carers looked after him extremely well. All staff made you very welcome.

I think it is a wonderful care home. I cannot fault anything. The nurses don't only treat it as a job, but care for my Son and cannot do enough to help him.

My mum lived at Huntercombe Hall Care Home for the last two years of her life, passing away peacefully there in July.
She was struggling with dementia and at times, I imagine, was not an easy person to look after. However, throughout her stay at Huntercombe, I was deeply impressed by the affectionate
care the staff gave her. That goes for all the staff I came into contact with, from cleaners to nurses and managers. They created a warm and happy atmosphere and I know my mum became very fond of them.
Towards the end of her life, my mum was confined to bed and particularly during this period I was struck by how much trouble the staff took to make her comfortable, even attending to small but important things like brushing her hair.
When she passed away their genuine sadness was very touching and I was very happy that some of them were able to come to the funeral.

Since my Son has been at Huntercombe Hall he has been treated with care, kindness and consideration. The staff are wonderful and I feel they don't just do a job, they genuinely care. My Husband and I are always treated extremely well and on each visit are welcomed with happy and friendly staff.

My Mother has now lived at Huntercombe for two years. Although it was one of my hardest things I did making the decision to place her in a home it has also been one of my best ones. My Mother feels safe, secure and happy. Her ment5al is at its best for so many years. I visit most days so I know that
the staff really care for her especially her key worker. The staff are so friendly that I also feel very welcome. Huntercombe is my peace of mind.

The head nurse (male) has been very kind and understanding to my very difficult Sister who has been in the nursing home for nearly 10 years. He had trained the other members of the caring and nursing staff just how to manage my Sister, when she died on the 20th April 2018 and prior to her death all
the staff and nurses were kind and wonderfully caring. We can't thank them all enough. Management should be very proud of all the staff, the cleaners, kitchen staff, laundry ladies, handyman and most of all - all the caring and nursing staff.

My sister moved into the care home July 2017, she has Altzheimer's. The staff at the care home are very caring and I visit regularly two to three times a week.


Food is good (three meals a day) with coke and biscuits between. The home has had new heating installed and decorators are in at the moment

as it did look quite tired. Hope they have new carpeting in corridors as they look quite shabby. Plenty of activities to keep residents entertained.

After 7 years of caring at home for my 84 year old husband, who has vascular dementia and severely impaired vision, I cannot praise this care home highly enough. My husband has been there five months now. The kindness, thoughtful care and support from all the staff is amazing - not only for my husband
but also for me and our family as we have been guided and advised through some very difficult times in these past few months.
Now I feel like one of the Huntercombe 'family' when I visit and am so warmly welcomed.
And the bonus is that I can take a pile of music with me and play the piano - music and singing being the only thing that my husband can still enjoy. It seems that some of the other residents enjoy it too!
I must also mention that the patience, kindness and respect shown by staff members to all the residents is impressive.
To sum up: for me, the overwhelming feeling at Huntercombe is one of loving care.

The friendly mood throughout this attractive, history-laden house is created by a dedicated staff who demonstrate how high professionalism can be combined with a cheerful, empathetic manner.


My 93-year-old father arrived here after hospitalisation, where he had become bedridden and uncommunicative.

Yet the patient care of the dementia-trained team gently revived his spirit. He regained his dignity and was encouraged to move, interact with people, eat in the dining room and join activities. On “difficult” days, the team understand him and can sooth and coax him back to a state of comfort.


I live aboard, yet members of the team always have time to respond to my telephone calls with a frank and detailed update on my father's well-being. And this open attitude is shared by the doctor who visits the home every week.


Huntercombe Hall, with its devoted staff, is a remarkable example of outstanding excellence. And I wholeheartedly recommend this wonderful care home.

My mother has a beautiful sunny room, very large. The staff are pleasant and helpful.
As my mother is 99 years old, she eats little and does not go down to mix with other residents. It's her choice to stay in her room. Everyone seems to be as happy as they can be in their individual circumstances.

I was apprehensive about coming here in June not knowing anyone who knew of Huntercombe Hall Care Home. However, on arriving in a great deal of pain I found the care I received quite remarkable. The staff are so caring, nothing is too much trouble. They have a spirit of friendship and cheerfulness I
have never found before. I was so struck by the kind and gentle way the people with dementia were treated. Sometimes when they are being very difficult they treat them lovingly and win them round. After my first stay, I told my GP he could recommend this home to any family looking for care for their relatives who have dementia.

I bring over 13 years of clinical experience in healthcare, during which I have had the privilege of working in various care settings. My background includes acute nursing, community, palliative, dementia, and care management.


During the past 12 years, I have worked predominantly in nursing homes. I have always been deeply committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care that truly enhances the lives of residents.


I am passionate about care standards and making a positive impact on the day-to-day experiences of our residents. My goal is to foster an environment that is not only safe and supportive but also enriching and joyful.


Henley-on-Thames combines natural beauty, a strong community spirit, and a wealth of cultural experiences, making it a truly delightful place to visit or live. I live in Wokingham, but I visit Henley-on-Thames regularly with my partner. The town is full of historical charm and the cultural attractions are beautiful.
