I had a very pleasant experience volunteering at Merryfield House Nursing Home. The carers are very welcoming and polite and have been very kind to me as well as everyone else at the care home. All of the residents are also very kind as well and seem to enjoy themselves, especially when I see them during the activities.

When faced with the huge worry of making decisions about mum's respite care, the manager and the team ensured that mum was cared for, listened to and safe. As family members making decisions, the staff kept us informed, reassured us and took a real interest in our situation. Many thanks at a very difficult time.

Wonderful welcoming atmosphere. The staff are so kind and attentive and I knew my mum was in very good hands. The building is light, bright, with big windows and extremely clean and well maintained. I can't thank everyone enough for looking after my mum while she was in respite care.

Since coming to this home we have been nothing but pleased with the care they've shown my father. They look after him so well, he's always clean, shaven, dressed well and has freshly cut nails. Their communication is brilliant, we're always kept updated. The staff run wonderful activities and always make us feel so very welcome. We couldn't be happier.

The staff and management at Merryfield house, I have found to be very caring, pleasant and always very helpful and informative. My mother has to go for a hospital appointment every week, this they organise which takes the strain from me taking time off work. They have been fantastic to mum since she has been there, settling in was quite distressing for my mother, but they were amazing and I would recommend Merryfield House to everyone.

Merryfield House is an exceptional care home which offers it's residents individual attention.

Since volunteering here, I have seen a fantastic connection between the residents and staff. Everyone is treated with dignity and kindness. Not only has Merryfield House shown me how valuable their care is but also how much they value their residents.

I visit Merryfield most weeks to take a resident to church.
I have always been impressed by the good atmosphere and attention to residents spiritual and social needs.

Although my experience of the personal care provided is more limited, I have never seen any signs of neglect or anything to cause me concern.

As a family, we have found Merryfield to be absolutely fantastic.
My dad is being incredibly well cared for here and all his needs are being met without any doubt.
He's settled and calm and this is all thanks to the lovely staff.

We are grateful every day that this is where my dad can call home!

My husband has advanced Alzheimer's and has been a resident for two months. I visit him almost every day and I am always impressed by the standard of care all residents receive. Staff are always visible, bells are answered so quickly and carers always address residents by name, with a smile. The house is clean, fresh-smelling and accessible to visitors but secure for residents. I usually stay an hour, but I always see a senior nurse, (Manager of Deputy) either attending to medicines or, usually, assisting a carer "hands on". It cannot be easy with dementia patients, but I have never heard a cross or reproachful word. My husband appears to be more content than when he was at home and the smiles of the staff bring out a smile from him. What more could I ask for?

Our daughter has used this facility for almost 7 years now.
It is known to locals as the best nursing home in the area.
From the time one enters the main entrance you sense comfort and class about the place - always freshness greets one.
If I needed the services of these facilities this would be my/our choices.
No faults.
It has kind and courteous staff.

Rating - superb.

My Uncle, who was bed bound and had cancer, stayed at Merryfield with palliative care needs. He had a total dependency for both his medical and personal needs.

At all levels, the staff were caring and attentive. The Staff were very efficient at liaising with the various agencies to get my Uncle the help he needed. The home has a very good relationship with the local GP practice. I was a regular visitor to the home and I was invariably met with a warm greeting and friendly update on my Uncle. A nurse or manager was always available to answer my questions and the daily records were in his room at all times so I could check on his day. The staff ratio in this home is very good and I believe this is the secret to the excellent service they provide. Even when my Uncle sadly passed away they were amazing. I cannot ever repay the care they took of my Uncle (and me) but I hope this review will help reassure others that, in my view at least, this is an excellent nursing home.

Mum has only been living at Merryfield House for a few months and she's very happy. They have made her feel so welcome and the care is first rate. She enjoys all the meals and the many varied activities especially singing, scrabble and gardening. Her health and morale have improved immensely since she moved and it is a relief for all of us to know she is so well looked after. The staff all seem to go the extra mile for all the residents and treat everyone with great respect and dignity.

I spent most Wednesday afternoons from January to May 2017 supporting a gentleman with a learning disability to volunteer at the home. During this time I was so impressed with the kindness, care and patience shown by all staff to everyone – each other, the residents, visitors etc. Nothing was ever too much trouble for anyone, the home was always spotlessly clean and tidy, as were the residents. Merryfield is such a shining star in the world of care homes and so different to those we read about in the press. I have had very little experience of residential care homes and so wasn’t quite sure what to expect and as a result was pleasantly surprised by everything I witnessed during my time there.

I sincerely hope that none of my family ever have to leave their homes and spend the remainder of their days in residential care, but should this ever be the case I would have no hesitation in suggesting to them that they consider Merryfield as an option based on what I have seen there.

I could not wish for a better home for my father-in-law. The carers, staff, food and surroundings are beyond excellent and my father-in-law is treated with dignity, love and respect and as a person rather than just a number. Despite his advanced Alzheimers, at Merryfield there is a marked improvement in his condition and they have succeeded in giving him back a quality of life and always go out of their way to involve him in activities and constantly think of ways to help him and assist him. It is such a caring, friendly place that is always welcoming and spotlessly clean with lovely homely touches. I cannot recommend it highly enough. My father-in-law is the healthiest and happiest we have seen him in a very long time. Thank you Merryfield House.

I couldn't be more impressed with Merryfield House. The staff are so caring and helpful and the home is always so friendly, homely and clean. My father has severe dementia but myself and my relatives have all been amazed by the improvement in his condition since coming to Merryfield. He talks a lot more and communicates better. He looks happy, healthy and content and absolutely loves the food! The staff are all so attentive to him and involve him in all the activities to stimulate him and give him interest. I am so grateful to the home that they have gotten my father to be the best that he can be despite his illness and have enabled us both to enjoy precious time together. I wouldn't want him to be anywhere else and am looking forward to better weather when we can spend some time together in the beautiful garden.
