Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My Mother has been a resident at Oaken Holt for almost a year now. Having visited a former resident who has now sadly passed away, I was very impressed with the standard of care provided. The resident himself was delighted with all the aspects of care in his new home. It was on this basis that I enquired
into the possibility of my Mother becoming a resident.
She has been here since January 2016. The recent refurbishment ongoing is unsettling, but I fully understand that it needs to be done.
The dining room and lounge are beautifully furnished. Thank you!
Reply from Sherrie Hume, Home Manager at Oaken HoltThank you very much for your review, we really appreciate your feedback. At Oaken Holt we take great pride in ensuring we deliver high quality care and facilities and we are very pleased that you have a positive impression of our team and the high quality care they provide.

As you are aware, Oaken Holt is an older building which retains a myriad of period features – from stained glass and leaded windows, to parquet flooring, original fireplaces and rooms with fine high ceilings. Oaken Holt is benefitting from a substantial investment and refurbishment programme to redecorate and refresh many areas of the home including several bedrooms to ensure that our high standards of service can be fully maintained. We are striving to minimise any disruption to our residents at our home.

We always welcome the opportunity to improve, and hope that you will continue to share your suggestions with us in the home in future.

Very professional and caring. Relatives treated very well when visiting. Mum has settled in very well. Full restoration of buildings in progress- Mum has one of the refurbished rooms which is very spacious. The setting of the house in its grounds, very pleasant. Food is good and relatives can eat with
residents which is very sociable.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.147)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.147) out of 10 for Oaken Holt is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.322 for Oaken Holt is calculated as follows: ( (134 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (21 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 180 Ratings = 4.322
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.825 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oaken Holt is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.825
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 59 registered maximum number of service users is 11.8, which has been reached with 13 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

As the Home Manager, I believe that our residents should be treated with the highest quality of care possible and endeavour to ensure that my team and I always maintain this.

I lead by example and involve myself in the day-to-day life of the home as well as making Oaken Holt a happy and enjoyable place in which to live and work.

I take a lot of pleasure from spending time with relatives and residents, understanding the important contribution that these relationships make to the successful running of a care home. I have over 15 years of experience in the care sector, having worked in various roles including carer, senior carer and deputy manager, before becoming home manager. All my roles have given me insight and knowledge, which I draw upon each day and share with my team.

It is important to me to develop team members to achieve their best, which means that together we make a difference to the lives of each of the residents in our care.
