Watlington is a stunning home in a rural village, with spectacular gardens overlooking the Chiltern Hills. But it’s the outstanding CQC rated team (April 2019) and the care they provide which makes it special.

So many of the team, who provide residential, dementia, nursing, palliative and pre-bookable respite care, have been at Watlington for over 10 years.

They are passionate about getting to know who their residents are as unique individuals, the things that matter most to them and bring them joy. And the loved ones of residents are very much embraced into life in the home, giving it a warm, family feel.

There are so many activities to enjoy, from trips out into the community in the home’s minibus, to music, baking, animal visits and games on the Magic Table. This is an amazing piece of technology where residents play interactive games together.

And the surroundings at Watlington are very special. The gardens, which include an orchard, water feature and magnificent lawns, go all the way around the home. The bedrooms and communal lounges and dining rooms have beautiful views of the gardens and surrounding countryside. And there are often Red Kites flying above.

There is a beautiful, light and airy orangery. And there are large lounges to relax in with family and friends, who are welcome to visit at any time.

The home also has a hairdressing salon, for regular appointments with a mobile hairdresser.

The residents enjoy delicious home-cooked meals in the dining room, with freshly baked cakes served every day with afternoon tea.

Run by not-for-profit Sanctuary Care, the home is situated close to local shops and restaurants and has a neighbouring GP surgery.

This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.

The care I receive while at Watlington & District Nursing Home was completely satisfactory. The staff were always helpful and kind and life was made as easy as possible. The food was excellent and varied during my stay.

It is a wonderful care home. They are so kind and everybody was so good to me. I would recommend it to everybody. The physiotherapists had me fixed in four weeks rather than six. If I ever have to go into a home Watlington & District Nursing Home is the home I want to go to.

This home was recommended by a friend and was excellent in dealing with my wife's Alzheimer's and her consequent difficulties. The management, nurses and carers are all first rate, and the building and it's facilities, especially lounges, were so much better than other homes inspected, and everywhere
was immaculate and clean. All my wife's visitors thought it was much the best home they had ever visited, an opinion with which I concur.

First time for me so nothing to compare with. But listening to friends and reading comments in the media this care home seems to be as good as one can expect so I regard myself very lucky to have been a resident with so many caring people.

Following several falls my husband (aged 90) was in Watlington Nursing Home for several weeks where he had an NHS intermediate care bed. The care he received was exemplary. All the staff, without exception, were professional, helpful, cheerful and full of humour. The pervading atmosphere was calm and
happy. The home cooked food was excellent and helped with his recovery. The rooms were light and airy, attractively decorated and kept spotlessly clean. This is an exceptional nursing home.

From the moment we met the manager, I knew that this was going to be the right place for my dad. It was going to be his first time in a care home as my mother was having her first period of respite. The staff were incredibly compassionate, caring and attentive. They were also honest and always had time
to answer my questions.
Most of all, they spent time getting to know my father (who has advanced alzheimer's), interacting with him and ensuring he had a lot of fun and stimulation. I would recommend it to anyone.

Following my leg operation I transferred from hospital to Watlington Care Home for treatment and rehabilitation. On entering I was lucky enough to be given what was probably the best room in the home. The care has been second to none I could not have asked for better. I found the food is varied and
interesting always a choice and sufficient. Medial staff have been particularly genuine and understanding.

My mother has dementia, the staff have been so good with her. Anything you want to know, they will let you know. Mum had a water infection and fell, they got in touch with me straight away, very efficient. Mother is always clean, can't fault the home, I know she is safe.

The care given to my father was first class in providing meals, caring for him 24/7, doctor availability and continued assessment. A more recent assessment should have been completed once the care plan was available, as his needs had changed. Also, pleased look at the future needs of the patient. For
my father mobility and eating should have been encouraged more. The home was clean and friendly with excellent cleanliness and facilities.
