First time for me so nothing to compare with. But listening to friends and reading comments in the media this care home seems to be as good as one can expect so I regard myself very lucky to have been a resident with so many caring people.

The staff are very kind (except shouting at you, expect you to be deaf).
The food and laundry service is excellent.

The rooms and facilities are very pleasant although the bed is hard and narrow.

Following several falls my husband (aged 90) was in Watlington Nursing Home for several weeks where he had an NHS intermediate care bed. The care he received was exemplary. All the staff, without exception, were professional, helpful, cheerful and full of humour. The pervading atmosphere was calm and happy. The home cooked food was excellent and helped with his recovery. The rooms were light and airy, attractively decorated and kept spotlessly clean. This is an exceptional nursing home.

From the moment we met the manager, I knew that this was going to be the right place for my dad. It was going to be his first time in a care home as my mother was having her first period of respite. The staff were incredibly compassionate, caring and attentive. They were also honest and always had time to answer my questions.

Most of all, they spent time getting to know my father (who has advanced alzheimer's), interacting with him and ensuring he had a lot of fun and stimulation. I would recommend it to anyone.

Following my leg operation I transferred from hospital to Watlington Care Home for treatment and rehabilitation. On entering I was lucky enough to be given what was probably the best room in the home. The care has been second to none I could not have asked for better. I found the food is varied and interesting always a choice and sufficient. Medial staff have been particularly genuine and understanding.

A warm welcome and soon made to feel a part of a family and not just another body to be mended. Help is always readily available, at the same time encouragement is given to be independent and work your way for your return home.

My mother has dementia, the staff have been so good with her. Anything you want to know, they will let you know. Mum had a water infection and fell, they got in touch with me straight away, very efficient. Mother is always clean, can't fault the home, I know she is safe.

Overall Experience

The care given to my father was first class in providing meals, caring for him 24/7, doctor availability and continued assessment. A more recent assessment should have been completed once the care plan was available, as his needs had changed. Also, pleased look at the future needs of the patient. For my father mobility and eating should have been encouraged more. The home was clean and friendly with excellent cleanliness and facilities.
