The regular catering staff are excellent with a variety of main meals and freshly baked cakes served for tea most days!
Hopefully, the new management team will continue to build on the good work here.
Thank you very much for taking the time to leave a lovely review of Buxton Lodge care home.
It means so much to us when our staff receive this level of praise and your kind comments will be sent on to the team.
People caring for people is at the heart of everything we do, and we...
Aurem Care are the parent company and in the 21 months that my mother was in their care there have been three general managers that have come and gone, so something isn't right.
Back in November they overcharged us £5,100. They have no direct line to their accounts dept so we had to send multiple emails to staff, some of whom left during our conversations.
When my mother passed away in July, we didn't receive any note of condolence from the home nor did we receive any final statement. After checking our account, the home overcharged us £6,200 in the month my mother died and an additional £6,200 after she passed away. I eventually tracked down the FD and received a £11,000 refund but it didn't match my calculations and they have ignored all emails asking for their calculations. This is unacceptable.
All the staff at Buxton Lodge Care Home in Caterham look after my wife very well, showing care and compassion. She has settled in well and seems very happy. She has engaged well with the other residents and also enjoys the various range of activities laid on by the staff. We, as a family, try to support as many of the events as we can and we are always made to feel very welcome.
Thank you for your kind words. We will ensure that they are passed on to the team. We are glad that your wife has settled in well and we look forward to welcoming you and your family into the home when you visit.
My sister-in-law has been in Buxton Lodge Care Home just a few weeks. She has learning difficulties and limited communication but she has settled in well. The staff are very kind, caring and supportive and it is a comfort to know she is being well looked after. Most importantly, in herself, she seems happier and more comfortable.
Thank you very much for your positive feedback, we will share this with the team.
The team were amazing and was just so reassured when I visited and Mum was really well looked after. They looked after her as though she was a family member and I recommend them.
We had great communication which was just so reassuring.
Thank you very much for your positive feedback. It will be shared with the team.
Overall good appearance. My relative confirmed she is treated with kindness and compassion.
Thank you for your positive feedback, we will share this with the wider team.
Care homes are (apart from the residency) all about the quality of the staff. The staff caring for my friend were exceptional and the improvement in my friend's well-being I can only assume is due to their excellent interaction with him. Great job and so pleased.
Thank you for your kind words. This will be shared with the team. We are very pleased to hear you are happy with the care at Buxton Lodge.
The rooms were very nice and well kept though most on the small side is the residents wished to have their own furniture, there wasn't really enough room. The staff were very attentive and caring at all times. The food was mostly excellent but for a few days not so good when supplies seemed to be a problem but I picked up again. The activities were very good and the staff tried very hard. Overall happy with the home.
My mother who has dementia and mobility issues has settled in well. It is a clean and safe environment. Staff are always pleasant and listen to any concerns. The manager is very approachable and deals very quickly with medical issues.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review it is very much appreciated.
Buxton Lodge Care Home is a lovely care home, so warm and friendly. The staff are so caring and kind and work so very hard to meet the needs of all the residents. When visiting, it is so comforting when we have to leave to know our loved ones are looked after so well. It takes a special person to do this job and Buxton's staff are wonderful. Thank you so much for all you do.
Hi Shirley, thank you so much for your kind words. It is much appreciated by all the care team.
Mum says she is happy there, and her eyes light up when any of the staff come into her room, and they are very nice to her.
The food is of good quality, and Mum clears her plate at every meal.
I would recommend Buxton Lodge to anyone who needs care/nursing for a relative as I trust them to look after her, and I know she is happy there.
Dear Jacqui, thank you so much for taking the time to write this review and for your kind words. We are delighted to read of your positive experiences in Buxton Lodge and that your mum is happy here.
This place is despicable in how they recently handled the recent passing of my father-in-law, zero compassion or empathy apart from about 5 of the carers, one carer in particular would shout at the residents and talk down to them when they are clearly distressed and confused from their illnesses. They completely messed up our requests for certain items to go with my father-in-law to the cremation company, who I must say were amazing and so helpful. When we spoke to the manager after the event she said about why the things weren’t sent to the cremation company “that these things don’t go according to plan sometimes” and blamed the cremation company that the items weren’t allowed to go with my father-in-law but when calling the cremation company this was a complete lie. While I was there I also saw staff playing on their phones, sleeping or just watching TV and not caring about the residents nearby who needed to be cared for. The manager is just damn right rude and doesn’t care about her job.
We are sincerely sorry to hear about your experience at Buxton Lodge and the distress this has caused. Please accept our condolences for the loss of your father-in-law. We strive to provide compassionate and attentive care to our residents, and we regret that your experience did not meet the high...
The care home itself is clean and tidy, the issue is with the management and a lot of the staff. Just a few words to describe them, rude, unprofessional, not very competent, no empathy, not caring, lazy.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding Buxton Lodge. We're pleased to hear your positive remarks about the cleanliness and tidiness of our care home, as we pride ourselves on maintaining a comfortable and welcoming environment for our residents.
We note that you have made...
During my wife's residence, I made frequent visits to see her and always found that my expectations of Buxton Lodge were fulfilled. The staff and managers appeared capable, responsible and genuinely caring towards patients, almost as if the patients were members of their own families and I found staff to be pleasant, cooperative and easy to deal with. I was particularly gratified by the sensitive manner in which my wife's eventual death was dealt with. Overall, I formed a high opinion of Buxton Lodge Care Home and would be happy to stay there myself if it ever became necessary.
Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review about the care your wife received. Reviews like this boost staff morale and give us the incentive and strength to continue providing the high standard of care you experienced.
In particular, I have been impressed with the manager as whenever I have raised a query or concern, she has responded in a very timely way and helped resolve the matter. This helps give me peace of mind, knowing that my mother is being looked after so well.
My siblings and I are extremely grateful to everyone there.
Thanks so much for your kind words. We are delighted to read that you have a such positive experiences in Buxton Lodge.
The home had a good atmosphere and the staff were always polite, friendly and approachable.
Thank you all.
My gran is relaxed and content there. The team make sure to dress her nicely and make such an effort with her hair. They even paint her nails beautifully which is so lovely for me to see as she was always very glamorous when she was able to look after herself.
They have been very accommodating with her dietary needs and she has drinks and food that she really enjoys all throughout the day.
The staff make such an effort to provide a friendly, jovial atmosphere and they play a lot of music and encourage singing which my gran loves. It’s amazing to see her come back to herself when certain songs are playing.
Thanks so much to the Buxton team for taking such lovely care of my gran.
She has been so well cared for, and we have been well supported by the staff, and we have always been made to feel welcome.
We definitely made the right choice in choosing Buxton Lodge. We can't thank them enough for helping us through a very difficult time and caring for her so well.
I find this care home very good. My husband looked well and relaxed when visiting him. The care staff are friendly and helpful. The place always looked clean and welcoming.
The management and staff are very attentive. They listen to our requests concerning my mum's individual needs and react accordingly. My mum is very happy with the care she is receiving and always comments on how nice the meals are. The manager responds to any email questions or requests very promptly, which is a very helpful extra communication line to have. The nurse is also available to discuss any particular issue whenever needed. All the staff are kind and friendly and have taken the time to get to know Mum - thank you all.
