My sister was welcomed very sensitively when she arrived 5 years ago. She suffers from manic depression and now a degree of dementia, is bedbound nd largely peg-fed, but the staff handle all this with expertise and good humour - so that she is mainly happy, which is such a blessing. The activities offered seem to me very good - but sadly my sister is hardly able to participate. She was undernourished and had bed sores on arrival, but the home have put these right.
The care and support are excellent. Food is good and caters to the need of the individual.
This care home is more like a very nice hotel.
Thank you to all the staff for their hard work and dedication and care.
On the whole, care is very well managed. Staff are pleasant and most helpful. This can also be said for the maintenance man, and the office staff upstairs.
I thought my sister might not settle when she came to live at Buxton but she soon saw it as her 'home'. She always has good words to say about the staff being friendly and how they tease/pull her leg which she enjoys. Can't discuss food other than afternoon tea which is always looked forward to, especially the cake. As my sister has no memory, she doesn't know what she had for dinner and is unaware that she chose it from a menu. Overall, the home is always sweet smelling (no odour) but occasionally I think her room is dusty. Both staff and management are friendly and have time to listen if we need to speak to them.
My neighbour has MS and I visit her on a regular basis. She is very well cared for. The home is beautifully clean, and the staff are kind and caring. The recent fete was beautifully run with residents enjoying in their wheelchairs. Buxton Lodge is not a sad place - I left there feeling happy.
My wife has been in the above care home since June 2014 she has been looked after very well indeed. She suffers from Parkinson's Disease and dementia and requires quite a lot of looking after as she is permanently bedridden and is not able to get out of bed at all. I am able to visit her at all times and always made to feel welcome with a cup of tea and something to eat if needed it.
Buxton Lodge gave excellent care to my husband for eight months. Staff are very warm and caring and patient.
The management team is visible, interested and caring and the many staff are friendly and helpful. My father has definitely prospered in this pleasant environment where he joins in all the activities and eats well.
He seems very content and says the staff 'can't be faulted'.
The care home is very welcoming, extremely clean and comfortable. The residents are given individual attention and all the staff from the manager, nurses and carers plus the kitchen, housekeeping and maintenance staff treat the residents with compassion and respect. There is an abundance of varied activities daily, superbly organised by the activities coordinator. I and my husband are extremely happy with his care.
I visit my friend often and find everything very pleasant and the staff are caring.
Since my mother moved into Buxton Lodge just before Christmas, she has become happy, contented and feels safe and cared for. Even though she has dementia, the care she receives has helped her to be much more 'my mum' once more, laughing and joking. The building itself is well set out, making each area accessible for most people but still safe and secure. The bedrooms and communal rooms are attractive and kept very clean. By far its biggest asset though is the hard-working staff, who carry out their duties with a genuine smile for the residents, relatives and their colleagues alike. There is quiet efficiency coupled with friendly affection from the cleaning staff through to the management, and everyone in between. Activities provided by a fantastic coordinator keep everyone stimulated and amused. I can safely say that 'care' is the perfect word in every sense - I need to reserve myself a room, and soon!
I have found the home to be welcoming. Always clean, good food provided. Activities are provided for residents. If information is required it's given freely regarding patients health. Welcoming to visitors.
The home is friendly and comfortable but would always do with more staff.
Buxton Lodge is wonderful. All the people are just so caring and attentive to the residents and families needs. From the chef who comes around and if the resident doesn't fancy what is on the menu will cook something specially. The linen is washed, ironed and nicely folded- never lost! Tea served on a tray with teapot, milk jug etc. Carers constantly chatting to the residents and popping in to ensure they have company. The home is comfortably warm, appropriate activities in the lounge with welcoming recliners for those that prefer them. Mum is encouraged to go to the lounge when she feels up to it. Sherry before lunch is always well received. There is not enough room to write more!!
Excellent, friendly but professional staff, very kind.
Whenever we visit nothing is ever too much trouble and we are always made most welcome. Always a happy atmosphere even when a resident is having an obvious 'bad day'. Their patience seems to know no bounds, whatever is thrown at the staff, always calm and helpful. Everywhere is very clean and well presented and there is never any smell. Fabulous!!
A super home, friendly, good food, well run, easy to be in, any niggles are promptly resolved and attended to, good communication with staff and local doctors. My mother enjoys it very much is very well cared for, a great relief and a refuge. The food has improved even more than before. It has been consistently like this from when we arrived and felt cosy and genuinely caring from the beginning. It takes considerable stress away whilst I get on with everything else needed.
Very pleased with Buxton Lodge and the care they gave to my Aunt during her 5-week respite. She stayed following an emergency respite required to help her get back to health and I was impressed with their care and concern for my Aunt and all their residents. My Aunt felt very well looked after, happy and secure in the environment they provided.
My Mum could not be in a better place. The staff are friendly and caring. The food is excellent. I can rest safe in the knowledge that my lovely Mum is safe and is being well looked after by people who care.
We visited for the summer family day, and it was fantastic. What a lovely day it was. Lots of stalls for children, a tombola and a BBQ. We had a lovely visit and my father in law looked very well care for.
