From our first visit the day of the Guinness Book of Records tea party, we felt that this was the place that mum would feel at home.

We were made to feel welcome every time we visited by everyone from reception staff, cleaners, care workers, nurses and management. Mum was treated with respect at all times and the whole team really cared about her and our family. Highly recommended.

I realise I have put in inclusive years rather than a particular year for this review. This is because from 2007 when my husband who was suffering from Alzheimer's disease was admitted to this wonderful care home, he was well looked after with sensitivity and dignity even as he deteriorated to the end of his life on 25th Nov 2015. He was not the easiest or most placid patient but he was always treated kindly and patiently. I was made to feel welcome on all of my visits, so much so, that I still occasionally pop in to see the regular staff.

Review from D S (Civil Partner of Resident) published on 6 September 2016 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My partner is a retired medical consultant who has many disabling illnesses requiring very skilled care. We were made warmly welcome and it soon became clear that the standard of care and dignity afforded to all residents was of a genuinely high calibre. People working there in any capacity were cheerful, helpful and seem to be part of a happy team. The manager is excellent and leads a team of very committed people who share high values in their treatment of every resident and of each other. Visitors are welcomed at any time and many highly professionally qualified visitors expressed their good impression of this care centre. I would recommend it. It is expensive but what price is peace of mind?

I wrote to the manager to say how delighted I was with the new staff he had managed to recruit, in particular, a lovely young girl who's care of my mother has been outstanding. I feel things at Emberbrook have improved considerably, especially the activities. It is always difficult getting the right staff and I think it is very important to keep morale up amongst those we have in order to retain them.

Overall Experience
My mother has been in the dementia section at Emberbrook for just over a year now and I can not speak highly enough of the staff who are exceptional, from the manager, who has transformed the home, to the nursing staff and carers. They are all kind, caring and cheerful and I love that they all work so well together as a team and support each other. A special mention to the activities lady, who with her passion, enthusiasm and energy has made such a difference to my mother's well-being, as have the other staff who are too many to list.

It is notable that the staff tend to stay a long time and it is a comfortable, happy and friendly home. It is a great comfort to our family that we know my mother is in the best hands possible.

I came for respite care and decided to stay. I have a light airy room which is decorated exactly to my taste. I have high nursing needs which are met expertly by kind, caring professional staff. There are varied and interesting activities throughout the week. In one sentence- the care home has given me my life back.

My mother-in-law spent three weeks in Emberbrook, after breaking her left arm just below the 'ball and socket' of her shoulder.

Emberbrook were excellent in finding space for my mother-in-law at very short notice.

She, and her family, have been extremely impressed with the quality of care dispensed over this period. The gentleness, professional care and attention has made my mother-in-law's stay a real pleasure, at a very difficult and painful time in her life. The staff have been friendly, welcoming and cheerful at all times.

Review from S T (Relative of Resident) published on 13 January 2016 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Following a period of enforced hospitalisation that lasted several weeks due to a significant stroke, our relative returned to Emberbrook Care Home in November. The standard of comprehensive and holistic care that our relative receives whilst at Emberbrook Care Home is substantially superior to that which they received whilst in other care. The family were deeply relieved and thankful to know that our family member had been re-accepted into the George Tickner Wing and upon arrival back, immediately attended to by several members of staff in order to ensure that their personal dignity, welfare, hygiene and basic health care/nursing needs were met with a combined element of compassion and immediacy. As a family we have always been and remain deeply appreciative of all the staff members continuing input, hard work, dedication, compassion and understanding.
