Emberbrook Care Home provides residential, nursing, dementia and palliative care in Thames Ditton. The home is surrounded by lovely gardens where they regularly enjoy afternoon tea and hold summer activities like garden parties and barbecues. In the centre of Thame Ditton village, Emberbrook, is close to shops, public transport and only a 2-minute walk from Giggs Hill Green.

The home provides permanent and short stay or respite care and the team, along with the family, will develop a personalised care plan that will include everything from hobbies, exercise and dietary preferences, to any health issues.

The staff are always very welcoming when visiting my father. They take time to listen to any requests or information we need.


My father has been a resident for approximately 6 months and is a very quiet man and not a great socialiser. The staff have appreciated this, and slowly he is becoming happier

to attend a few activities and happy to intermingle at his own pace.


He says he is very happy here and everyone is very kind.

I was very apprehensive on being told that Nana was in a care home on my return for Pakistan. My first contact with the care home was to be greeted very warmly by a member of staff whom I think is an incredible asset to all the residents, staff and visitors. Other staff members are also extremely good
with Nana and she relies on each of them and considers all of the staff as family.
I am pleased with the staff's general helpful attitude and treating residents like family members and I commend the manager and staff for their care.

My cousin had been in hospital. She had cancer and had a massive stroke. The hospital suggested Emberbrook. I knew nothing about it beforehand but the reviews were extremely positive so we moved her there for the last 5 weeks of her life.


She was made extremely comfortable. The nursing staff

were so caring and attentive. They always took the time to phone and consult me on any problems. I am very happy that we found Emberbrook and my cousin was so well looked after.

This would have been my mum’s sixth year at Emberbrook (she sadly passed away in March 2017), but during her time there, she was always happy and content. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, it’s such a lovely atmosphere, a bit like an extension of your family home.


During the last 6 months

when my mum was very poorly she needed round the clock nursing care, which was always excellent. It was difficult to see my mum so poorly but the staff worked together as a team to give comfort and support. Any worries I had were dealt with straight away, they seemed to genuinely care for their residents’ as well as the resident’s families. That was really nice.
The Manager is very approachable and always on hand to help or to chat if you have any concerns, or just need some re-assurance, that makes such a difference.


I would certainly recommend Emberbrook.

My mum moved into Emberbrook Care Home in June 2013. Every member of staff looks after mum in an excellent way. They are kind and caring. As mum approaches her 103rd birthday I cannot ask for her to be living in a better place. I have and will continue to recommend Emberbrook Care Home to friends and
family.

One feels a warm homely atmosphere as soon as one enters the front door at Emberbrook.
Residents are treated with utmost care, dignity and are known as individuals very quickly.
Everywhere is scrupulously clean and a great deal of laughter and banter can be heard everywhere.
My mother even had
an outing to a local garden centre, something that had never occurred in her 17months in a previous home.
All in all, a very well run home.

From my first meeting to the final visit, the genuine responsibility and care towards residents and their relatives/friends shine through. There has to be a routine but residents are given choice as to the time they are helped out of bed and when they go back to bed in the evening. The right personality
of staff is very important to Emberbrook Care Home, they care and respect the residents and each other. You can teach someone how to lift someone but you cannot teach them to care about that person. My dad's final months were very contented thanks to Emberbrook Care Home.

During my mothers stay at Emberbrook for the past 5 years, the home has always been kept to a high standard of decor and cleanliness. At all times, the staff have been kind and attentive to her. I have no hesitation in recommending the home to others that are in need of dementia care.

In the beginning, the management and senior nursing staff were excellent at dealing with my husband and me as we worked through the traumatic experience of "putting my mother into a care home". At the beginning, they gave us unlimited conversation and time. We found quite quickly that this friendly,
embracing and understanding culture extends to all the staff. We have seen the angst of mum's dementia gradually diminish. The hugs, laughter and conversation everyone shares with mum have made her visibly more content. Whilst we know there is no "cure" for her condition we can at least be happy that she is in the most secure and caring environment we can provide.

From our first visit the day of the Guinness Book of Records tea party, we felt that this was the place that mum would feel at home.
We were made to feel welcome every time we visited by everyone from reception staff, cleaners, care workers, nurses and management. Mum was treated with respect at
all times and the whole team really cared about her and our family. Highly recommended.

I realise I have put in inclusive years rather than a particular year for this review. This is because from 2007 when my husband who was suffering from Alzheimer's disease was admitted to this wonderful care home, he was well looked after with sensitivity and dignity even as he deteriorated to the end
of his life on 25th Nov 2015. He was not the easiest or most placid patient but he was always treated kindly and patiently. I was made to feel welcome on all of my visits, so much so, that I still occasionally pop in to see the regular staff.

My partner is a retired medical consultant who has many disabling illnesses requiring very skilled care. We were made warmly welcome and it soon became clear that the standard of care and dignity afforded to all residents was of a genuinely high calibre. People working there in any capacity were cheerful,
helpful and seem to be part of a happy team. The manager is excellent and leads a team of very committed people who share high values in their treatment of every resident and of each other. Visitors are welcomed at any time and many highly professionally qualified visitors expressed their good impression of this care centre. I would recommend it. It is expensive but what price is peace of mind?

I wrote to the manager to say how delighted I was with the new staff he had managed to recruit, in particular, a lovely young girl who's care of my mother has been outstanding. I feel things at Emberbrook have improved considerably, especially the activities. It is always difficult getting the right
staff and I think it is very important to keep morale up amongst those we have in order to retain them.

My mother has been in the dementia section at Emberbrook for just over a year now and I can not speak highly enough of the staff who are exceptional, from the manager, who has transformed the home, to the nursing staff and carers. They are all kind, caring and cheerful and I love that they all work
so well together as a team and support each other. A special mention to the activities lady, who with her passion, enthusiasm and energy has made such a difference to my mother's well-being, as have the other staff who are too many to list.
It is notable that the staff tend to stay a long time and it is a comfortable, happy and friendly home. It is a great comfort to our family that we know my mother is in the best hands possible.

I came for respite care and decided to stay. I have a light airy room which is decorated exactly to my taste. I have high nursing needs which are met expertly by kind, caring professional staff.
