My brother has been a resident at Emberbrook Care Home for just over four years. He is very happy and settled. The staff on the dementia ward are very attentive. There are plenty of activities and the lounge and restaurant are encouraged to participate. The medical team are in contact regularly to update
me on my brother's needs, and hospital appointments. Overall, very satisfied with my brother's care facilities.

It's with a heavy heart that I reach out to team Emberbrook, who have gone above and beyond kindness - care - therapeutic services, January 2023 my father passed, one year later my mother passed. Living 6000 miles from them has been difficult on its own, but having the peace of mind that both were being
looked after so well has been priceless. 100% best care home by far.

My brother has been a resident at Emberbrook for 5 months having been discharged from hospital in a very poorly way mentally and physically. Emberbrook has given him full support from day one and continues to do so. He has improved in every aspect of his care needs, his care plan prepared is fully meeting
his needs and the stimulation from the team organising and implementing a brilliant timetable for activities has been so beneficial for him.
Anything I have asked from his unit has been met with full professionalism, full action and the skills shown have been outstanding. Great teamwork.
My brother also enjoys a healthy well-balanced diet, instead of snacks which he fell into the trap of eating at home! Can’t thank you enough everyone at Emberbrook.
Just a mention, on taking my brother to meet his wife and onto a Christmas Fayre, I asked the staff to pull out the stops on his dress attire. Carried out perfectly, he was the best-dressed man at the venue, everyone told him how smart he looked, which can only result in his own personal self-esteem. Thank you, thank you.

My mother has been a resident at Emberbrook for 10 months. We were told by a good friend that the care home was excellent but it has beaten our expectations on all fronts. My mother is so well cared for by all the staff who are all professional and so kind. They go the extra mile to make my mother's
and my life better. I cannot recommend Emberbrook enough. Thank you to all the wonderful staff.

My mother-in-law was a resident at Emberbrook for around two years. I was always pleased with the standard of her care and thoughtful gestures by the staff. The environment was clean, fresh and welcoming. The staff were professional and caring. Regular carer meetings were very useful. Throughout the
Covid era, the staff did all they could to make visiting possible and safe. Any comments were listened to and addressed.

My mum has just arrived at Emberbrook this month from hospital. Within a few days, she is up walking, is dressed and has the biggest smile on her face. All the staff are lovely, I simply cannot recommend this place enough.

My dad has been at Emberbrook for six weeks and I can't believe the difference in him.
All the carers are lovely, helpful, genuine people that he can talk to and I can talk to regarding my dad's needs. He is happy, clean, fed well, using his wheelchair. To six staff members in particular, thank you
so mcuh - and all the others that I haven't met yet.

The staff here treat my mother with kindness and dignity and try and manage her moods. They call me from time to time to give an update on how she's doing. They jolly her along and persuade her to eat her meals.

I am writing an updated review of Emberbrook Care Home as my sister has now been a resident for seven months and I continue to be impressed with the consistent level of care and support my sister receives. We are regularly updated by the medical and care team if there are any particular concerns about
her general health and well-being. My sister recently celebrated a special milestone birthday at Emberbrook and they kindly enabled us to use the lounge and lovely garden as a venue to have a number of friends and family around to join in the celebration. I must add that the activities and events staff and the catering team went above and beyond to help make it a very special occasion. Thank you so much to everyone involved in my sister's care.

The improvement in my sister since she moved into Emberbrook is amazing. This is without a doubt due to the atmosphere in general and the warmth, caring and ongoing enthusiasm of all the staff. I've built relationships with many residents, which to me, shows a happy home. Visiting my sister used to
be mentally challenging for me, but now I generally look forward to visiting her, but all at Emberbrook too. Thank you for making it a special place.

My mother has spent 6 weeks respite in Emberbrook. She settled in easily and has built strong relationships with the kind and very hardworking staff on her unit. She returned home stronger physically and mentally which is a testament to the excellent care she has received over the past few weeks. The
home is clean and a very friendly place to visit and I think Mum would be happy to return if circumstances in the future required. This in itself is probably the best endorsement of the care she has received.

My father has now been in Emberbrook for nearly a year. He has Alzheimer's and is bedridden. Ever since he moved in last year, Emberbrook have made this transition as easy as it can be. They have made dad feel at home, he now loves his room. It was so difficult for us as a family, but Emberbrook have
been excellent in every way. We cannot fault the carers and nursing team. A member of staff in particular on the front desk is a fine ambassador for the company.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.928)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.928) out of 10 for Emberbrook Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.928 for Emberbrook Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (222 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 237 Ratings = 4.928
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Emberbrook Care Home is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 68 registered maximum number of service users is 13.6, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
