Emberbrook Care Home

I was most impressed with the home from the first time that I made contact. The staff genuinely appeared to care and this was demonstrated throughout my friend's stay at the home. They encouraged him to exercise to improve his strength and mobility, which enabled him to return home after an 8-month stay. I was advised of any issues as they occurred and I felt we worked in partnership to support my friend.

My 84-year-old mum had a stroke, followed by a heart attack, and upon discharge from hospital, she went into a nursing home - Emberbrook, in Thames Ditton. From my first interactions with Emberbrook, I knew mum would be in good hands. If I were to choose one word to sum up Emberbrook, it would be real - real warmth, real love, real interest, real people. It's refreshing to find somewhere where simple human interactions still count for something. When it comes to caring for people, this realness is what makes the difference. Thank you Emberbrook. I couldn't wish for anything better.

My mother became a resident of Emberbrook in May when her previous care home could no longer meet her needs. Her health was failing, she'd lost interest in eating/drinking and spent much of her time in bed! We really thought she would pass away soon. Within a few weeks of being cared for at Emberbrook, she had gained a new lease of life! She's put on the weight she had lost, is active again and is our happy mum again. I can't thank the Emberbrook team enough for the love and care they give!

My father arrived at Emberbrook from hospital at the start of the Covid-19 lockdown, which was very stressful for him and for us. The staff have been fantastic in settling him into his room and making him comfortable when we were not able to. He is now on end of life care and we could not wish for him to be in a better place. He is being looked after amazingly well and we are so grateful to everyone at Emberbrook.

I also find the staff really puts themselves out to please, however busy they are. As far as I am concerned, the home is great for my sister's needs and I am happy with all the facilities.

My granddad has been at Emberbrook for quite some time now and we regularly visit him as a family however with COVID we have not been able to visit the home but instead, we have been able to keep in touch with Skype and Facebook. We cannot thank the staff enough for all the hard work they are doing keeping our relatives safe and happy.

Just wanted to comment on how caring Emberbrook are at this awful time of Covid 19. I am humbled by the sacrifices carers are making to look after our elderly relatives. Many are giving up leave, working over hours, going far beyond what is expected. I hope you get government recognition when this is all over, I think you're the unsung heroes of the health crisis. Please take care of yourselves and a huge thank you for the consistent care you give to the most vulnerable.

My mother unfortunately passed away in February, she was at Emberbrook for just over a year, and I can honestly say that the care and kindness that she received was first class. The environment is friendly and homely with a happy feel. Always plenty of activities going on. Mum was always happy when we visited and loved all the staff. Thank you all.

Although my husband does not have Alzheimer's, 9 months ago, he was admitted to an Alzheimer's unit as this was the only accommodation available. He has since refused to go to another unit 'downstairs' as he likes his room, especially the staff who know his routine. Staff at all levels are approachable and offer help where applicable. We both enjoy the activities and was delighted with the delicious food provided for our 50th wedding anniversary and a surprise cake on his birthday. I have already recommended Emberbrook to friends looking for help in caring for relatives.

My father stayed for a month's respite and then decided to stay permanently. We found all the staff very welcoming and caring from day one. The deputy manager showed sympathy and empathy when conducting the initial assessment. The receptionist and financier have been really supportive and the nursing and care staff treat my father with respect and compassion. Thanks

Always get a cup of tea and the staff are so friendly. When my time comes I hope it will be this lovely home. You are all wonderful. Thank you.

There are a few areas of concern. No continuity of management - senior positions have not been replaced which places an unfair strain and stress on the care staff, of whom there are insufficient numbers. Some agency staff are used, who are unfamiliar with the needs of residents. Permanent experienced staff are an essential requirement.

The care our daughter receives is excellent.

Friendly and caring team. Always clean and tidy. Dad made the right choice in Emberbrook Care Home. We have been very lucky to have mum here.

The attitude I experienced at Emberbrook was outstanding.

This is a first-class nursing home. Everybody goes the extra mile (or 2) to ensure patients comfort and dignity. My wife is happy to be here. Parking is easy and the home is quiet and peaceful.

The home is clean to the enth degree. I am so relieved my father is happy there as he will be there until the end.

My husband is totally bedridden, nearly blind and doesn't speak. He is very well cared for and kept clean and dry. He is always treated with kindness and respect and his medical needs are expertly dealt with. I visit nearly every day and am always offered refreshments and any worries I have are always listened to and dealt with by the excellent carers.

We would like to thank Brighter Kind that you allowed us to use the lovely room to entertain her friends after the funeral. The kitchen had provided wonderful food that day.

Mum was looked after very well. I still come to the home even after she passed away. I attend their yoga and pilates classes regularly.

The staff, without exception, are efficient and caring. One always feels welcome at most times of the day. It is pleasant to meet up with other residents who have relatives in the home in the lounges linked to each floor and it is nice to use the garden and ground floor facilities for visiting musicians. Area around the home also good for me.
